Gus still going to be coaching? Not worried about it. The next HS QB he develops will be the first.

Pickens will be an interesting recruitment out of East MS Junior College in a couple years.

Nix won’t fit what Malzahn wants to do.

The road Pickens is on has a detour to Juco.

Pickens will be spending the next 2 years in JUCO in all likelihood. Which is why Bama hasn't really pursued him hard at all. With the hard cap of 25 now, you really can't take chances on guys that are long shots academically.

I apologize, I forgot he has serious grade issues

We take chances on guys. I can make of few from last year that I'm sure we wanted that haven't qualified.

Per the NCAA Bylaws change (effective Aug 1, 2017) that added the 25 signings per academic year limit, non-qualifiers who've signed an NLI still count against their original signee spot. You can't use that spot to take a different player.
Bama shouldn't let any player sign an NLI who is at risk of not qualifying. It was a mistake to let Jordan Davis sign an NLI. Save a spot for them if you want, but don't sign them until after they've qualified.

Surge since you seem to be up to date of the numbers, at least better then I am do you know how many we can take as an EE? I am beginning to wonder with players like Diabate may not be a take because is an EE, where we are waiting on guys like Webb, Hill, and others who are also planning on being EEs. I know we can only take so many.

Nix and Pickens are now 5 star players. The barn has 3- 5 star recruits now.

I'm pretty sure there's no specified limit on how many members of a signing class can enroll early. I don't think EEs even have to fit in under the 85 limit until the next fall (just like summer enrollees) unless they're being backcounted via the Midyear Replacement Bylaw (15.5.6.3.5).
Early enrollees who are midyear replacements (per Bylaw 15.5.6.3.5) for December or prior academic year graduates may be counted against any unused signee and initial counter spots for the current academic year (i.e., prior recruiting class spots). FBS schools may only use the midyear replacement option if they had 85 counters during that academic year.
As of NSD we had three unused 2018 class spots. Since then Musika, Hatcher and Kaho were added to the 2018 class and used those spots. So there really isn't much need for me to keep count of how many players we graduated for the sake of enabling midyear replacements.

I thought I remember in the past we could only fill so many spots. There was a player a few years ago that wanted to be an EE and we would not let him come in for the spring. Can not remember if he went elsewhere and think he did.

Here's the Midyear Replacement Bylaw:
15.5.6.3.5 Midyear Replacement. [FBS/FCS] A counter who graduates at midyear or who graduates during the previous academic year (including summer) may be replaced by an initial counter, who shall be counted against the initial limit either for the year in which the aid is awarded (if the institution’s annual limit has not been reached) or for the following academic year, or by a student-athlete who was an initial counter in a previous academic year and is returning to the institution after time spent on active duty in the armed services or on an official religious mission. In bowl subdivision football, an institution may use the midyear replacement exception only if it previously has provided financial aid during that academic year to the maximum number of overall counters (85 total counters). In championship subdivision football, an institution may use the midyear replacement exception only if it previously has provided financial aid during that academic year that equals the maximum number of overall equivalencies or overall counters. (Revised: 4/20/99 effective 8/1/99, 6/8/99, 4/26/01 effective 8/1/01, 8/2/05, 12/15/06, 1/14/08 effective 8/1/08, 4/2/10, 1/15/11)

Sean. You've got to relax. Your obsession over this is a bit much. We'll finish with the #1 or #2 class. It'll be fine.

I just remember issues with Dee Hart and IIRC correctly we lost out on Massington the WR because there was no EE spot.
