EVALUATION: Jerrion Ealy lines up all over the football field. You see him at running back, then in the slot, then he slides to the outside receiver position, and on special teams, he is returning punts. He is on the smaller side, but he plays big, and more importantly, he plays tough. He has that no fear attitude on the football field. He wants the ball, he wants to make plays and he makes plays many probably wouldn't expect him to make. He has great acceleration when he gets the ball and he while he is quick and shifty, he knows when to turn it up the field. He has great hands at receiver and he will be able to use that on the next level to raise his value as a prospect. Ealy flashes great balance and he loves to use the spin move to avoid contact and would-be tacklers. He has great feet, he has a great feel for the game and he is a dynamic player.

Alabama commit set to visit Tennessee

quote:

TRUSSVILLE, Ala. — Over 10 months ago, Rivals 100 offensive tackle Pierce Quick committed to Alabama. He grew up a big fan of the Crimson Tide. He dreamed of playing football in Tuscaloosa. He still says all the right things about his commitment, but the four-star out of Hewitt-Trussville is leaving the door slightly cracked for others schools.

He visited Mississippi State a little over a week ago, he is planning to visit Georgia soon, but this week, he will take his first visit to Tennessee.

It is not so much about the connection with new head coach Jeremy Pruitt, but someone else who came with him from Alabama.

"This will be my first time ever in Tennessee, so I am ready for it," said Quick. "I knew coach Pruitt, but he wasn't really a coach I knew that well at Alabama, but me and coach [Brian] Niedermeyer were extremely close.

"Every time I would visit Alabama, I would be around him, we would talk a lot and we were super tight. So him being at Tennessee is something that is pretty cool and we still have a good relationship."

The day after the staff was hired, I was getting text messages from a lot of the coaches. One of those coaches is Will Friend, the offensive line coach in Knoxville and he and Quick are starting to build a relationship.

"He is really a cool guy and his grandparents are from Trussville, so that is pretty cool. He has been recruiting me hard and he knows the area I am from, so we will talk more when I get up there."

The Vols are selling playing time to the No. 7-ranked offensive tackle in the 2019 class. Alabama is loaded with talent and that is what Pruitt is aiming to have his roster looking like in the coming years.

"The Tennessee coaches are telling me that I can come in there and get playing time and that I am a big need for them," said Quick. "They think I can start early there and that is really what they are telling me."

Tennessee was just one of five SEC schools that made a change at head coach in 2017. Alabama also replaced almost their entire staff under Nick Saban. Quick definitely took notice.

"All the coaching changes this year has really opened up my eyes, so you can never go to a school for a coach. The school I choose to go to will be the one I would go to even if I wasn't playing football.

"It is come down to that for me. I am going to evaluate everything as a student, so I am going to visit other schools and just look at things a little differently."

Trip No. 1 to Knoxville could lead to a return visit. Quick will go into this visit with his eyes and ears open and if things go really well, he may schedule an official visit.

"It would have to be an eye-opener for me," said Quick. "It is hard to say exactly what I would have to see or what exactly would have to happen for me to schedule an official visit with Tennessee, but if things go well, there is a chance I take one.

"I am going to take all five and I know Alabama and Mississippi State will get one, so I still have to decide on the other three. Georgia and Oregon along with Clemson and Tennessee are schools I am looking at right now."

Rivals250 DB Sheridan Jones says six schools are recruiting him hardest

quote:

Rivals250 defensive back Sheridan Jones is once again a 2019 prospect and now he is taking a more proactive approach to his recruitment. The Norfolk (Va.) Maury star says six schools are recruiting him the hardest and he has one unofficial visit planned.

IN HIS OWN WORDS…

“Due to me reclassifying I’ve been in communication with coaches a lot more,” Jones said. “I’m trying to figure out who really wants me. I’m being recruited the hardest by Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Clemson, Ohio State, and Florida. I’ll be making a list of top schools sometime this summer. There is a possibility I commit before the season but it’ll most likely happen during the season.”

Alabama- “Coach Tosh has been recruiting me for two or three years now,” he said. “He’s got the defensive coordinator title now so he is showing me a lot of love. I talked to coach Scott the other day and he can’t wait for me to get down there. They are saying I’m built for Bama.”

Tennessee- “The visit was pretty good,” said Jones. “I got to go around with coach Tino. I talked to coach Kelly and the other coaches too. The coaching staff is really elite now. It’s an up-an-coming program and they are going to turn it around. They are showing me a lot of love and they are definitely in need of more defensive backs.”

Clemson- “I’ve been getting recruited by coach Venables and coach Reed for a long time,” he said. “They’ve been telling me for a long time that Clemson is a top university athletically and academically. They could really see me there and they want to help mold me into a man on and off the field. It’s a big family school. I could definitely see myself in that defense using my length and athleticism.”

South Carolina- “Coach T-Rob has a really good defense,” Jones said. “I’ve been talking to him and coach Krantz too. I’ll meet coach Muschamp this weekend when I go down there. I expect to see how they run things, meet more of the coaching staff, see the campus, and get a feel for everything around there.

Ohio State- “This is a good athletic and academic school,” he said. “It’s another school that’s at the top in both aspects of life. With Teradja going there, that’s a link I can use to see what’s going on down there, find out how they treat the players, and find out what the coaching staff really thinks about me. I talk to coach Meyer most of the time. He sends me links to see the things that are going on down there. I definitely need to get down there. I’ll try to get there for the spring game. I don’t really know the new defensive backs coach yet.”

Florida- “They are definitely a good group of people,” said Jones. “I talked to coach Sal the other day. He’s a really cool dude. He’s trying to get me down there pretty soon.”

RIVALS’ REACTION…

Jones has always thought very highly of Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State. South Carolina will have their chance to impress him this weekend and Tennessee showed him a good time on a recent visit. Both schools will need to show Jones that they can produce on the field before they move into the upper tier of his recruitment. Florida is in a similar situation as South Carolina and Tennessee but his relationships in Gainesville still need to get stronger.

Sheesh, even Quick is going to play the game? I'm fine with guys taking their visits, but where are the class leaders we've had in the past that man up, own their commitment and recruit like hell for their own class? Guys like McCarron, Rolo, Tua and others? Where are the leaders of the future who aren't wishy-washy attention seekers?

DJ Dale's one of the hottest recruits in the South

quote:

PINSON, Ala. — Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Tennessee and Texas A&M have all offered DJ Dale in the last few weeks. It is easy to say that the 6-foot-2, 315 pound defensive tackle out of Clay-Chalkville is one of the hottest prospects in the South.

Although that have come in, in a rush, the fast-paced action has not surprised the powerful junior.

"I have been talking to those coaches more and more over the weeks before they offered, so I kind of expected the offers to come," said Dale. "None have really been that big of a surprise to me. The schools had been showing interest or talking to me before they offered."

Do not expect things to slow down for one of the best in Alabama. He has a visit to Clemson (offered last week) scheduled for March 3 and the Tigers and the Georgia Bulldogs are showing a lot of interest right now.

Dale has been busy on the road evaluating schools over the past month and he has tripped to both Auburn and Tuscaloosa. He has been on the Alabama campus for a couple of camps and Junior Days, so he has a good feel what for it is like there.

"I have been able to build relationships with the coaches at Alabama and it is good to be around the people there. I like how the coaches look to build their players into better men at Alabama.

"The way they win is impressive too. Wherever I go, I want to win, so what they do plays a role."

Alabama's offensive line coach Brent Key is Dale's lead recruiter. He was talking with Karl Dunbar before he left for another job, so Dale is waiting to see who Alabama hires as a new defensive line coach.

With Auburn, Dale has seen it all. He has been to games there, unlike Alabama, and Dale likes that atmosphere.

"Game-day there is crazy and I could see myself playing there," said Dale. "It is loud, the fans are crazy and it is a great environment.

"I like how the coaches care about the players at Auburn. They push about your grades, they push you to do the right thing and I like that a lot."

While the in-state schools have both offered recently, there is another SEC West school that offered long ago. Mississippi State was the first school to offer Dale back when he was a freshman and that is part of the reason the Bulldogs stand out.

"Them offering me before anyone else does mean something to me, but there is more to my interest in them. They have a new coaching staff, but I still have a good relationship with their coaches.

"I have been over there and I can tell they still want me. The coaches picked it right up and I liked that. I have been there for games and stuff and I like the atmosphere there too."

Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State are three schools Dale is high on at this time, but he made it clear that he has no favorites. He will likely have a top five in the coming months, but he is still waiting to see who else offers and evaluating each school.

Tennessee has come one strong since Jeremy Pruitt took over. Dale has been in talks with him and defensive line coach Tracy Rocker recently. He visits Clemson next, so they could decide to offer and jump in this race too.

Dale did not grow up a true Alabama or Auburn fan. He said some in family like the Crimson Tide and Tigers, but he also has family members that are Clemson and Florida fans.

He, himself, is wide open.

"Alabama, Auburn and Mississippi State are three schools I like, but I do not have any favorites," said Dale. "I have talked to those schools a lot, I have visited those schools and they are on my list.

"I am still taking my time and I not sure what I want to do yet about committing. I could commit early, but I may wait. I just have to wait and see how I feel.

"The most important thing for me is where I feel most comfortable. When I have that feeling, that is when I know I am ready to commit."

So Rivals has him at 315.

Quick has made it clear he's 100% committed to Bama, a class leader and actively helps recruit. Recruiting reporters are skilled at interviewing recruits in a way that enables them to spin their articles for more drama and site clicks. Rivals is prone to "promoting" more teams as having a good chance of landing recruits. Try reading the article again, while keeping all of that in mind.

Out of all the sites I've ever observed, Bama or otherwise (and that includes dozens), this is by far the most negative in terms of inventing some bizarre way to put a negative spin on ANYTHING.

Yes, tider04. You should fret that Pierce Quick is considering maybe taking an OV to utk at some point. Clearly, he's gone.

Come on, guys. We lead or are in great position for like 10 of the top 50 recruits nationally. Let's not do the whole negative thing again this year. It gets old REALLY quickly. Especially where there's literally zero reason for it.

Alabama on Tuesday announced the list of coaches who'll speak at its annual spring coaching clinic.

The headliner is Doug Pederson, the coach of the Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles. Another past winner of the Lombardi Trophy, Mike McCarthy, will also be on hand for the event that runs from April 12-14.

The clinic is open only to high school football coaches.

Also appearing: Troy head coach Neal Brown, Temple head coach Geoff Collins, West Virginia head coach Dana Holgorsen and former Florida head coach Ron Zook (now Green Bay Packers special teams coordinator).

Last year, Atlanta Falcons coach Dan Quinn was the featured speaker along with Houston Texans coach Bill O'Brien.

The coaches clinic coincides with Alabama's spring practice that's set to open next month in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama had success a few years ago in landing Terrell Lewis out of Washington (D.C.) St. John's, and the Crimson Tide are back at the school and involved with four-star running back Keilan Robinson.

The 5-foot-10, 181-pound Robinson, who is the No. 24 running back in the industry-generated 247Sports Composite, was offered by Alabama on Tuesday.

To go from 2019 to 2020 and back makes him sound like a grade risk to me, or am I not understanding the implications of that statement correctly?
