Also, everyone pay some respect to Monty. He's over on dirt burglars representing Bama. He's speaking the truth in the Dax thread

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but Dax Hill has apparently eliminated OU and is down to Bama and Michigan.

The Najee saga hurt a lot of UM fans deeply. If this drags out and they think Hill is coming to them and he ends up at Bama, some Michigan fans won't be able to handle it.

LINK ]Tide DL commit Byron Young to play in 2019 All-American Bowl (BamaOnLine)

Alabama defensive line commit Byron Young is headed to San Antonio this winter. The 4-star defensive end from Laurel (Miss.) West Jones was invited and committed to play in the 2019 All-American Bowl on Thursday.

Young becomes the second Crimson Tide commitment to pledge to play in this January's all-star showcase in Texas. Earlier this month, 4-star defensive end Antonio Alfano committed to play in the All-American Bowl.

The Tide is typically well-represented at the All-American Bowl. Last year, several UA commits and eventual signees like 5-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr., 4-star wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, 4-star center Emil Ekiyor, 4-star cornerbacks Jalyn Armour-Davis and Josh Jobe and 3-star punter Skyler DeLong took part in the prestigious event. The year before that, players like Tua Tagovailoa, Najee Harris, Devonta Smith, Henry Ruggs III, Kendall Randolph, Jarez Parks, Joseph Bulovas and Thomas Fletcher competed in the bowl game.

From AllAmericanGames.com:

“The All-American Bowl Presented By American Family Insurance is greater than a game on a Saturday afternoon. It is a year-round celebration of high school excellence.19 years as nation’s premier high school sporting event, featuring the nation’s 100 best senior football players. The Bowl game is broadcast annually on NBC. It is the most-watched high school sporting event of every year.”

Aside from Young and Alfano, several current Tide targets are slated to play in the All-American Bowl. Guys like 5-star running back Trey Sanders, 5-star safety Daxton Hill, 4-star linebacker Henry To'oto'o, 4-star defensive tackle Faatui Tuitele, 4-star safety Nick Cross, 4-star cornerback Tyrique Stevenson, 4-star cornerback Jeffery Carter, and 4-star linebacker Mohamoud Diabate are also set to make their way to San Antonio.

Young committed to Alabama earlier this month over Georgia, Mississippi State and Ole Miss, among several others.

“Just the great success and whenever I go down there I feel like it’s home,” Young told BamaOnLine of why he chose the Tide. “I’ve talked to some of the players that were committed before me and I feel like those are people I could really get along with and play with. It’s not too far away, my parents can come down and see me whenever they want to and I can get back home whenever I want to.”

The 4-star defensive lineman's head coach at West Jones, Scott Pierson, had nothing but positives to say about his star player when we caught up with him after Young's decision.

“I think he’s just so physically strong,” Pierson told BOL. “Outside of his size, his hands and his leverage and his length — all those things give him a great advantage at our level. Now, at the next level it’s going to be a little different, but at our level just the sheer power that he brings … and he’s only 17. The upside is real, real high on him.”

At 6-foot-4, 279 pounds, Young is rated the No. 9 strong-side defensive end and the No. 119 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings.
