Neal isn’t visiting anywhere before his season starts

Neal said that IMG players are not allowed to visit schools in the last weekend of July because IMG is starting camp. (Some players have said they are still going to visit). Schools across the country are trying to get him to visit.

Neal did say that if he was allowed to visit anywhere this weekend, it would be Alabama or Florida State. Many in the recruiting industry, and his teammates believe Neal is trending back to the Tide, where he was once committed.

“Alabama, Miami, Florida, Florida State; the Southern Schools,” he said when asked which he likes, declining to name a leader.

Hmmm.

Neal will decide during or shortly after his season

And because he is an early enrollee, he is going to need to take most or all of his official visits during the season. Neal says that those visits will be in the Southeast, and maybe one to the West Coast.

On Alabama: “Nick Saban keeps winning National Championships,” that’s the pitch, Neal said of Alabama.

On FSU: Neal said that he wants to get back to Tallahassee, and that him not getting back to Tallahassee is not due to a lack of desire, but rather scheduling conflicts. Neal said that coach Raymond Woodie told him something about FSU having part of its spring practice at IMG, but that it doesn’t mean much to him.

On Miami: “Miami is really high on my list, and extremely high on my mom’s list. Everybody knows that.,” Neal said. “If it was up to her, I’d already be committed there. They’re a great program, and I grew up a Canes fan, I had family that played for the Hurricanes.”

But Mom can’t get him to commit just yet?

“She’s on my about it, man, but it’s a decision I have to make. I want to take my time with it and not jump the gun.”

Early playing time is not an important factor

“I feel like I can get early playing time anywhere. Wherever I go, I know I’ll have to work for my position, be it Miami, or even Alabama,” Neal said. “I’m not the type of dude to look at a program just because they have an open slot to start as a freshman.”

Analysis

It’s great to see Neal is now in shape, because he can be a dominant factor. I’d be shocked if he ended up anywhere by Alabama, Miami, or maybe Florida State. Most I speak with think he’ll end up at Alabama or Miami, but he does keep mentioning an intention to get back to FSU. And while he maintains that early playing time is not a factor, the latter two schools can offer a legitimate chance to start as a true freshman.

People tend to underestimate leadership/chemistry. You see a lot of programs that have some talent do great things in a coach's early years in the program when everyone is hungry, buying in to what the coach is saying, and has good senior leadership. But then, the tendency for most programs is to stagnate a bit even when they're signing better (on paper) recruiting classes than the ones that won big in the coach's first 2-3 years. This has seemed to be the trend for just about every program other than Bama and Clemson (and to some degree Ohio State... but Urban seems to do better when less is expected).

Uga 2017 had really good chemistry. Ohio State 2014 is a great example. That team was ahead of schedule, but they were tight-knit and absolutely rolling with confidence when we played them.

Then there's managing a bunch of egos. We'll begin to see what Kirby's really made of soon. There's a lot more that goes into being an elite program and consistently challenging for NCs than the fans of these upstart programs tend to think.

I agree here with 3714

UGA I think was ahead of schedule last year. We were in 08 as well but had a lot of experience returning for 09 that made all the difference. I think UGA will be good but if they slip up early I am not sure how well Kirby will handle it to be honest. The fans expect NC this year but I do not see them going to the playoffs.

TBH I am not even sure they win the east and make it to Atlanta. Week 2 & 4 they play on the road at USC and Mizzou. I could easily see them roll into LSU 4-2. If that happens depending how LSU starts out they could leave BR 4-3 with games still against UF and home vs AU.

Hope you’re right but I don’t see it. UGA is the 2nd most talented team in the SEC now and maybe 3rd most talented in the nation. They should boat race the weak East and give us all we can handle in MBS. I’d love to be wrong as I hate UGA and want Kirby to fail.

They know Bama is getting that #1 class back this year. And I like your optimism, but 14 points better than UGA? We barely beat them last year and they should be better this year. I like our odds to win another close one, but curious why you think Bama would blow UGA out?
we straight up spotted them 13 points, playing with 1 qb tied behind our back. The game would have been a massacre if tua started. If tua came in the second half of the Auburn game we most likely win that one and be the first team to go undefeated in the playoffs era

Meet Alabama’s 2019 Commits (PART 1)

quote:

Alabama’s 2019 class could be one of the best recruiting classes in recent memory. I will take a deep look at Alabama’s current 2019 commits. The Tide currently has 20 commitments. Here is a breakdown of ten of them as this part 1 of Meet Alabama’s 2019 Commits. Part 2 will be released on Thursday.

Amari Kight

Kight is a 4-Star offensive tackle. He is ranked as No.43 in the ESPN 300.

The 315-pounder is a teammate of Alabama quarterback commit, Taulia Tagovailoa. Kight is excellent at the tackle position as he has great footwork. He knows how to keep his feet at shoulder width and make his self wide, which makes it hard for a defensive end to get around him. The Tide has a chance to land the best offensive line class of the Saban era and Kight plays a huge part in that.

Brandon Turnage

Turnage is ranked No. 71 in The ESPN 300. He is the No. 6 cornerback in the 2019 recruiting class, according to ESPN.

The Mississippi-native is great at turning turnovers into points. Once he catches an interception, he is off to the races. His speed also gives him the ability to keep up with the outstanding wide receivers that are in today’s game. Alabama landed a total of five defensive backs in their 2018 recruiting class, after losing all of their starting defensive backs from last season. The Tide looks to have similar success in this recruiting cycle as they currently have three 4-Star defensive backs committed.

Christian Williams

Williams is ranked as No.87 in the ESPN 300. He is very athletic. He has great speed and knows how to judge the ball in the air. The 4-Star Alabama product is one of those guys that can compete for those 50/50 balls and come out with the pigskin.

He is another guy that has experience playing on both sides of the ball. Saban has been known to experiment with players and try them at different positions all over the field. Williams is one of those unique players that Saban could tweak to fit Alabama’s offensive and defensive scheme.

DJ Dale

Dale is one of the top players in the state of Alabama and it is easy to tell why. He is quick on his feet and has the ability to dominate inside of the trenches.

The 6-feet-3-inches 323-pounder is extremely athletic and very knowledgeable of the game. He fires off the line with a great burst of speed and is able to break down when attempting to make tackles, making it very difficult for ball carriers to make a move on him.

Keilan Robinson

Robinson’s 5-feet-9-inch frame allows him to run hard and low to the ground. He has explosive speed and can exploit the smallest openings. He can also be used in the passing game. Alabama wants to add at least two running backs during this recruiting cycle. The amount of depth they have currently in the backfield may have hurt them doing the last recruiting cycle but this should not be a problem this time around. Alabama will lose senior running back, Damien Harris, at the end of next season. Najee Harris will be a Junior and Josh Jacobs will be a Senior.

King Mwikuta

Mwikuta is ranked as No. 201 in the ESPN 300. He is an outside linebacker, that can come off the edge and make plays in the opponent’s backfield. Alabama’s linebacker corps has been hit by the injury bug as of late. The suspension of Vandarius Cowan doesn’t help the Tide’s depth. Alabama must attempt to create depth at the linebacker position, which makes Mwikuta a huge get.

Pierce Quick

Quick is a name that many people have heard time and time again for his efforts on the recruiting trail. Some of that attention may have taken the light away from his ability on the field. Quick is a 5-Star recruit, that makes sure he puts his hand on someone every play. He rarely loses a one on one battle and is a master at getting pancake blocks.

Paul Tyson

This kid is an excellent passer. He has great accuracy and knows how to put the ball in those tight spaces. He threw for 36 passing touchdowns and only four interceptions in his junior season. His low interception rate is in large part to his ability to put the ball in a place where only his receiver can get it.

The main storyline many pay attention to is Tyson’s great-grandfather being Paul Bear Bryant but Paul has a chance to make his own legacy at Alabama with his unique skill set.

Tanner Bowles

Bowles is an outstanding lineman. He makes great use of his hands during pass blocking making it very hard for defenders to get around him. He is also an aggressive blocker on the run. He has a great first step, which allows him to open up huge lanes for ball carriers.

Will Reichard

Everyone knows of the kicking woes the Tide have had over the last couple of seasons, which makes this commitment such a huge one. Kickers are often called upon during the most pressure-filled situations and having a great one goes over well for any team. The Tide has not been very lucky in the kicking game as of late, but have fortunately been able to work around it. Reichard will have a chance to change this when he gets his opportunity.
