Keep an eye on Bill Norton. Bama really likes him a lot.

Thanks. Yeah, I already have him on the Top Targets List. 247 projects him at OT and DE. Do you know if he projects well at TE too? It seems to me he might. What position(s) does the staff like him at?

He wants to play DL, but people think he's a OT because of his frame.

UGA and tOSU have led in the past, and his grandfather played at LSU...

Given our needs, I hope we like him better at DE. I think we might have others higher on our board, granted we can't afford to be as picky this cycle since we'll only have 5 DL on scholarship returning in 2019. I think Tuitele, C.J. Clark, and the 3 DE's from MS are better than Norton, but I would certainly take him.

I think we end up with Tuitele, Clark/Dale, Pickering, Byron Young (from MS), and either Norton or Jaren Handy.

3714,

Has Rodney said anything about Kedrick James moving to DE ?

I can't begin to understand why they wasted a year of his development at TE. It was clear we needed DL last season, and now it has gotten really thin.

Not sure how a 280 pound TE fits into Bama offense especially with this last season having 6 OL on the field when they wanted to go heavy. (which makes more sense to me anyway)

A lot like Bosa. DE most likely. We're going to absolutely clean up with DL recruiting this year. Going to be a monster haul.

They still love James. Still uncertain about where he'll be (which I find odd) that both comments are still being made in tandem. I guess they'll figure out the position here in a few weeks and stick with it. Either way, he's a physical specimen.

Recruiting question of the day: Why Tide haven’t offered 5-star DL from Tua Tagovailoa’s school

Faatui Tuitele has a chance to be the next 5-star Hawaiian to choose Alabama.
quote:

Alabama finished 7th in the recruiting rankings in the 2018 class, but expect the Crimson Tide to be back on top in 2019. SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner will answer the Recruiting Question of the Day each weekday. You can ask him your questions on  Twitter or Facebook. Find our previous questions and answers  here.

Any reason why the Hawaiian DL doesn’t have an offer yet? @rburn20

This is a good question. St. Louis School in Honolulu has a 5-star defensive line prospect in  Faatui Tuitele. For those fans who closely follow Alabama recruiting, that school may be familiar to you. That’s the former high school of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

Tuitele recently spoke with SEC Country and told us the Alabama staff has told him that it will offer him once he visits. Tuitele is expected to visit Tuscaloosa on April 5.

My thoughts on this subject is Alabama likely doesn’t want to waste its time recruiting Tutiele strongly until he visits campus because that will show legitimate interest in actually attending the school. And if he does visit in early April, Alabama will be able to bring him back for an official visit at a later date.

If he does visit, I like where Alabama stands with him because he is close with Tagovailoa and his family, plus the Tide are in contention to sign 4-star quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa, who’s Tua’s little brother. The Tagovailoas and Tuitele are distant cousins.

Evaluating linemen out of Hawaii based off film is tricky too.

Looking at his highlights and camp video I'm confused as to how he is a five star. I mean he really doesn't stand out physically or anything. Doesn't seem super athletic but what do I know.

I see seven future tide players on that list. Good to see Noland Smith on that list would be nice to take him from UGA.

I don't think we take Andrews and Trikweze with Brendan Gant.

Good catch. I agree (unless Bama likes one of them at CB, Nickle or Dime). I edited to fix that.
