I laugh when I watch the commitment videos and the kids are working out. I'm laughing at myself because I was such a later bloomer ?. I got screwed

There was a kid on the gym today throwing around 315 on push press. He was hitting 8-10 reps easy when I left and was still adding. Pretty impressive.

I've been working out off and on since high school, decent athletic ability, and my mind is still blown at how powerful some of these kids are at 16-17 years old.

On topic, Saban and crew out there slaying.

Thanks maybe we’ll start utilizing our TE’s in the passing game more and he’ll be the next Engram, but I’m not going to hold my breath. Just goes to show how good of recruiters this staff is that they convinced him to come here with the way TE’s have been used in the Saban era. Or maybe he’s ok putting on weight and blocking while winning championships. Regardless if the staff wants him I’ll defer to their expertise. Glad to have him on board. It’s about to get interesting.

Ok fellas.

It's time for me to check out for awhile. Keep up the good work over the next few days. I'll catch up once I get settled over there.

Has anyone watched Billingsley's commitment video? It made me tear up, especially considering how close I was to my maternal grandmother.

So with 20 commits do we say actual 19 with Cheney? And is there a blue shirt in there or two? If so, that would be 17-18 and we have 10 to 11 more to take?

I was 5-10 at best and between 140-150. I could run and jump, I just didn't have power at all. I was just skinny as hell

Everyone assumes Cheney won't be part of the class, but the coaches accepted his commitment and he is a part of this class until he or our coaches decide otherwise. I've predicted that he'll be offered a gray shirt, which he very well may reject. Some also assume Tyson will pay his own way since he comes from a wealthy family, and that the kicker could take a gray/blue shirt. Bottom line is nobody knows. I do think we will end up with about 29 in this class with gray/blue shirts. So we can take 9-10 more depending on whether Cheney sticks or not.

Nuggets from Hank after covering The Opening: Bama is in the driver's seat for Trey Sanders and Siaki Ika, very likely for Daxton Hill and Ishmael Sopsher and trending very well for Nakobe Dean and Kayvon Thibodeaux. Sanders and Darnell Wright will be at Cookout #2, probably Ika too

Jeez! Kirby effed up last year twice!

Just saw this post from yesterday and had to comment. Two great commitments since then. Just a great time to be a Bama fan.

6’4 211 sounds like he’s heading for a redshirt at least
he had the best sparq rating of all tes, and he had the best 40 and the best power toss. Seems he has alot of power for his weight.

We only can only have 26 signees We have 1 unused signee spot from 2018 that can be used for a 2019 early enrollee plus 25 for 2019. As of NSD 2018, we had 3, but Musika and Hatcher were added to the 2018 class since then.

Blueshirt won't work because it counts against the annual signees limit. Greyshirt will work because it would count against 2020 limits. If Tyson's family paid his way he'd tecnically be a walkon and wouldn't count against any limits.

We don't get Jordan Davis' 2018 signee spot back, but I think we still have his (27th) initial counter spot. Davis wouldn't count against signee limits again if he enrolls at Bama after Juco, but he'd become an initial counter then.

The only way I can think of to use Davis' unused initial counter spot now would be if we take someone on a non-athletic scolarship, perhaps Tyson or a brain like Nakobe Dean on an academic scholarship. I don't think a non-athletic scholarship player counts against the signee limit and they wouldn't become an initial counter until they play in a game.

The NCAA rules on this are moronic. It literally should be you can take as many players in a year as you have open under 85 scholarships

All the bitching about oversigning is part of the reason for the limits, but the rules are also designed to promote academic standards. The new 25 signees per academic year limit without regaining the spot for a nonqualifier is designed to (1) curtail oversigning, (2) discourage signing players who are high risk of not qualifying, and (3) encourage schools to take their signees who failed to qualify after they graduate from juco.

By rule, only Bama can take Davis after juco without him counting against signee limits, as he's already counted against our signee limits. If we take him after juco, he'll then count against the annual 25 initial counter and 85 total counter limits. Iow, right now we have an extra initial counter spot w/o a signee spot to go with it.

Man I know it’s only speculation, but hank has us on Ika, sopsher, Dean, Thibs, Hill, Harris, Lee, and that’s just D. Not including Sanders , Webb, possible Nother tackle, WR.

I’d be completely fine with a hard 25 if they moved the roster size to 100.
