The nation's top 25 recruiting classes for 2019

quote:

There’s still a long way to go in the 2019 recruiting cycle, but college football programs around the country are already starting to put together some impressive classes. With that in mind, we've decided to take a closer look at the top 25 recruiting classes in the country according to the 247Sports Composite Team Rankings.

The rankings have seen a ton of movement over the past month as numerous highly-ranked prospects have announced their respective commitments. Not only has a new team taken over the No. 1 spot in the Composite rankings, but they've also opened up a bit of a gap between them and the rest of the field.

Of the current top 25 recruiting classes in the Composite, the SEC leads all conferences with nine teams on the list, including two of the top three. The Big Ten accounts for seven of the top 25 classes, followed by the ACC and Big 12 with three each, while the Pac-12 has two teams on the list.

It should be noted that verbal commitments are non-binding and players won’t be able to make it official until the Division I Early Signing Period, which begins on Dec. 19, 2018, and ends on Dec. 21, 2018. Players who elect not to sign during the early period will be able to do so on National Signing Day on Feb. 6, 2019.

With that in mind, the 247Sports Composite's top 25 recruiting classes in the country for the 2019 cycle can be seen below.

Hank South held a recruiting chat the other day and was asked for his picks on the three most likely prospects to commit to Alabama next. He named these three:

Christian Harris
Jaylen McCollough
Faatui Tuitele

Iirc, he didn't write anything last week after the news broke tha t Cox is pulling the plug. And he's been writing less than usual this week. He may be spending time trying to line up a new gig.

No idea, they’re both counselors at the camp but are participating in every drill that the high school kids are.

Another thing I learned while perusing the Auburn thread is that Cadillac Williams is the RB coach for IMG Academy.

MCKINNLEY JACKSON - RIVALS 3 STRIPE CAMP MOBILE

Jackson is a powerful, tough, 300-plus pound defensive tackle who can dominate in a variety of ways and did just that at the Rivals Camp stop in Mobile. The only offensive lineman who even challenged Jackson was four-star Kardell Thomas, an LSU commit who’s rated as the No. 1 offensive guard in the 2019 class. Jackson is a 2020 prospect who has been outstanding this offseason and he could be atop his position ranking as well when all is said and done. He’s a former LSU commit who’s open to a lot of teams at this point.

His high school coach is an Alabama fan.

Hank said Trey is the secret 5* visitor he'd been talking about the last couple weeks. He's seen reports about Nolan Smith, but hasn't confirmed he's there. Other IMG guys on campus, including Evan Neal and Michael Redding III.

ETA: Hank has confirmed Nolan Smith is at UA.

Watch Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa fire passes at Elite 11 as future Bama, Auburn QBs compete

quote:

It looks like Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovolia's hand injury is healed.

On the opening day of the Elite 11 Finals quarterback competition today in suburban Los Angeles, Tua appeared to be completely healthy, based on reporters' video shared on social media, and Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts was also there as a camp counselor.

The Elite 11 Finals features 24 of the nation's top 2019 quarterback prospects, including Pinson Valley senior and Auburn commit Bo Nix and Alabama commits Paul Tyson of Hewitt-Trussville and Taulia Tagovailoa, Tau's younger brother, of Thompson. The 24 players will compete for three days at the invitation-only camp in suburban Los Angeles.

Hurts and Tagovailoa, of course, are locked in a battle to become Alabama's starting quarterback for the 2018 season opener against Louisville. Hurts has started for the last two seasons, while Tua emerged as the national championship game hero by throwing the game-winning touchdown to beat Georgia before missing some of spring practice with a hand injury.

Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa created a vision of what the offense could look like during his performance in the national title game in January. But his absence this spring has delayed it from being fully realized.

The Elite 11 also tweeted a time-lapse video that shows Nix and current Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham, who missed the bulk of spring practice after surgery on his non-throwing shoulder.

Tyson, Nix and Taulia Tagovailoa will compete through Sunday, and the top 11 advance to The Opening in suburban Dallas from June 30-July 3.

This week gives a sneak peek at the future quarterback battle involving Tyson and Taulia Tagovailoa at Alabama, while Nix adds the Iron Bowl rivalry to the mix.

Check out videos featuring the quarterbacks with ties to Alabama high schools, Alabama and Auburn:

I'll post the individual video links over the next several posts.

I'm confused, why are Jalen and Tua competing in a camp?

They’re counselors at the elite 11 camp but they’ve participated in every single drill.
