Will Reichard, the nation’s No. 1 kicker from Hoover (Ala.) High School, committed to the Crimson Tide over Georgia, LSU and Oregon. He was the only kicker Alabama was targeting in the 2019 class, and now the team has its top target at the position.

Chris Sailer has been coaching kickers and punters for more than 15 years. In the last three years alone he has sent more than 500 kickers and punters to colleges across the country.

None of them have compared to new Alabama kicker commit Will Reichard. In fact, there may not be a better kicker to come through his elite camp in all his years of coaching specialists.

“I feel like he is the most well-rounded kicker that we have put out in high school probably ever,” Sailer told SEC Country.. “I love his makeup both mentally and physically. I think what he has gone through is a big part of that.”

Sailer has been teaching Reichard since the sixth grade. He was kicking alongside high school kickers back in middle school. Sailer said Reichard always has been years ahead of any other kicker his age.

“If he was in the Class of 2017, 2018, 2019 or 2020, he would still be the No. 1 kicker in the country,” Sailer said. “He’s that good. If I brought him to any campus of where my current college starters are, they'd be fearful of their job if Will came to compete. I will go a step further. I even believe you could put him in an NFL camp right now. He’s that good. He’s ready for the next level. That’s how special Will is. Everyone fears Will, no matter what age he is.”

Reichard will battle for the starting kicking job with Joseph Bulovas, who will be a redshirt sophomore when he gets to campus next season. Bulovas was named co-MVP of the A-Day game in April after making five field goals and three extra points. Reichard said he has no worries when it comes to competing for the starting job. And why should he worry? He's been somewhat of a kicking prodigy for more than five years.

Reichard becomes Alabama’s 14th commitment in the 2019 cycle and the latest addition to the Tide’s No. 1 class.

At 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Reichard is rated the No. 2 kicker in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Reichard is the 14th commitment in Bama's 2019 class, and 7th from in-state. He's also the 11th commitment since April 5 when Paul Tyson and Rashad Cheney kicked off a run of recruiting momentum for Bama.

Reichard's pledge continues to reflect how much of a priority the state of Alabama has and will be in this recruiting class. Remaining targets in-state include five-star center Clay Webb from Oxford, four-star receiver and Auburn commit George Pickens, and four-star linebacker Mohamoud Diabate. The Tide currently holds commitments from six of the top 10 in-state players.

The Tide maintains its top-ranked spot on the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings, well ahead of Oklahoma at No. 2. Bama currently holds a score of 252.91, which is just about 30 points less than what it ended the 2018 cycle at score-wise.
