BRADENTON, FL — Five-star running back Trey Sanders is finished with his spring football at Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy, and now the 5-foot-11, 215-pound prospect can turn his attention to recruiting a bit.
A host of schools are chasing Sanders’ commitment, but he’s not ready to name any leaders. “I really can’t name a top school right now, because there are so many schools that are trying to come after me hard right now,” Sanders said. “So I mean, I don’t really have a say so on that right now.”
An in-state program is in line to get his next campus visit as he begins to sort through he lengthy offer list. “I’m going to FSU next weekend. The new coaching staff and my family want to go up there and meet them too, so I’m going to take my mom and my dad up there.” The Noles wanting to meet Sanders’ mother will be important as FSU tries to beat Florida for the talented back.

“My mom’s a Florida fan and my brother LINK ][Umstead Sanders] is going to Florida. With my brother going there, we always talked about going up and playing together, so that’s a big thing. But she understands that we got to do what’s best for each other. She knows that if Florida is not a fit for me, then it is what it is. Either way, we still family at the end of the day.”
The Gators are in regular contact with Sanders and were trying to get him on campus this weekend. “I talk to Coach [Dan] Mullen a lot. We stay in touch a lot, and Coach Gorilla [Cordell Landers]. He’s up there too, and I stay in contact with him a lot. I was supposed to go up for the cook-out this weekend, but I got to study for exams.”
Florida is really pushing the opportunity for Sanders to play college football with his older brother. “Come be good with your brother,” Sanders said of Florida’s message to him. “They pound it in my head, man. Me and my brother always talked growing up and playing with each other. He told them that, and it’s just special to have that opportunity to go play with my brother.”
How much with that factor into Sanders’ final decision? “It’s going to factor a little bit, but not too much because I got to do what’s best for me and he’s got to do what’s best for him. If Florida is the best choice for both of us, then that will be best for both of us. Until I make my decision, I’m just open right now.”

Sanders was previously committed to Alabama. Does he still hear from the Crimson Tide?
“Oh yeah, of course,” Sanders answered. “I’d say they’re probably recruiting me the hardest right now to be honest. I was committed since my freshman year, so that place is pretty special to me, of course that’s where I committed. So hopefully I get to go back up there this summer.”
Sanders went on to explain what it is about Alabama that stands out. “They run the ball. It gets no better than that. I want to get to the league, and you got to run the ball in order to get to the league. So I feel like that is the best thing.”
As Sanders continues through the recruiting process, the early enrollee candidate is looking to wrap up his recruitment by the time the Early Signing Period comes along.
“Right now I’m deciding between signing day and the middle of the season. I’m probably going to take all my visits, just go and see what the schools got for me. There’s no telling what school I might like, so I’ll just take all five of mine and make my decision.”
The industry-generated 247Sports Composite currently ranks Sanders as the nation’s No. 7 overall prospect and the No. 1 running back in the 2019 recruiting class.

Tidal, if you have access you may consider putting the commitment time in the thread title. I still suspect you will get that question 25 more times before 2, so it may not be worth it.
