LINK ]Top-5, Ohio State visit coming for WR Marcus Washington (247Sports-VIP)

4* WR Marcus Washington 6-2/190 (MO) hudl

Washington will release his top-5 (for official visits) on May 13. He has an unofficial visit to Ohio State set for May 18. He's picked up two OSU CBs since yesterday (OSU mod and 247 National Analyst); total now = 3 OSU, 1 Foggy.

LINK ]Alabama’s lack of RB, WR commitments is no cause for concern (SEC Country)

Trey Sanders, the nation's #1 running back, was once committed to Alabama.
quote:

Alabama finished seventh in the 2018 class recruiting rankings, but expect the Crimson Tide to be back on top in 2019. SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner will answer the Recruiting Question of the Day each weekday. You can ask him your questions on  Twitter or on  Facebook. Find our previous questions and answers  here.

Alabama is back on top of the recruiting rankings, but hasn’t landed a RB or WR. Is this concerning? -- from BamBam

Alabama has indeed gotten back on top of the recruiting rankings, but hasn’t gotten a commitment from a running back or wide receiver just yet. The team had a commitment from the nation’s #1 running back Trey Sanders at one point, but he de-committed from the Tide in January. Do not expect Sanders to rejoin the Tide. He’s a strong lean to Florida after his older brother, Umstead, made his decision to walk-on with the Gators.

Is there a reason to be concerned with the team not having a receiver or running back on board as of now? I don’t think so. It’s May. There’s a lot of time left. Remember, we haven’t gotten to the team’s camps that will happen next month. More players will emerge as serious targets at that point. Last year, Texas wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who ended up signing with Alabama, was the star of the team’s summer camp. Waddle quickly shot up the team’s wish list after his performance at camp.

At running back, the team is targeting several in this class. It’s possible the team ends up taking two. The names to know are Ole Miss commit Jerrion Ealy (Jackson Prep, Flowood, Miss.), LSU commit Tyrion Davis (University Lab, Baton Rouge), 5-star prospect Quavaris Crouch (Harding University, Charlotte), and 4-star prospects Keilan Robinson (St. John’s College, Washington D.C.) John Emery Jr. (Destrehan, La.) and Deondrick Glass (Katy, Texas). Crouch, though, wants to play linebacker in college.

There’s a lot of young depth at wide receiver on the roster, so the position isn’t as big of a need this cycle as others. But the team wants to sign around three when February comes around. The names to know are 4-star prospects Devonta Lee (Amite, La.), Marcus Washington (Trinity Catholic, St. Louis), Jameson Williams (Cardinal Ritter, St. Louis), Mycah Pittman (Calabasas, Calif.), Milton Wright (Christian Academy, Louisville) and Zion Puckett (Spalding, Griffin, Ga.). This is definitely a position where more names will emerge next month at camp.

LINK ]Nation’s No. 1 kicker, down to 4 schools, will announce commitment soon

Will Reichard is Alabama's top kicker target.
quote:

Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Roll Tide-ings, a rundown of everything happening in Alabama Crimson Tide recruiting with Chris Kirschner. In this edition, we talk the latest with the nation’s No. 1 kicker.

Will Reichard to commit in coming days

Hoover High School’s last day of school is May 24. Will Reichard, the nation’s No. 1 kicker and a top Alabama target, will make his commitment known prior to school letting out that day.

Reichard has been on commitment watch for more than two months after he said at the time he was going to make his decision in the coming weeks. Why did he hold off so long?

“I wanted to make sure that I was 100 percent,” Reichard told SEC Country. “There have been a lot of schools that have come out to see me this spring, so I wanted to see the interest there and give it a chance to see if anything sparked.”

When it looked like Reichard was going to commit two months ago, he was down to Alabama, Georgia and LSU. Oregon has moved into the mix recently with former Tide assistant Bobby Williams leading Reichard’s recruitment for the Ducks.

There have been many questions from Alabama fans whether Reichard was still able to commit to the Tide after redshirt freshman Joseph Bulovas’ performance in the A-Day spring game. Bulovas was named a co-MVP of the game after making field goals of 33, 49, 26, 35 and 48 yards. He also sent numerous kicks into the end zone on kickoffs.

Reichard, who was in Tuscaloosa for the A-Day game, has talked to the Alabama staff numerous times since the end of spring ball, and the coaches have reassured him that he still has a spot in the Tide’s 2019 class.

“They have told me multiple times since then that they still want me,” Reichard said. “I actually talked to [special teams] Coach [Jeff] Banks Tuesday. He told me that I am definitely the guy that they want, and how Joseph Bulovas’ performance didn’t change anything.”

Bulovas’ performance in the spring game also doesn’t change Reichard’s feelings on Alabama. “I’m not scared of any competition,” Reichard said. “I know what I can do. Anywhere I go, I am ready to compete for the job. Who is currently on the roster is not a factor in which school I choose or don’t.”

This upcoming season for Reichard will be the first year where he has had the full-time kicking job to himself. He split time with current Nebraska kicker Barrett Pickering last season at Hoover.

Reichard said he has felt some pressure this spring now that he is the team’s top kicker, but it’s nothing that is going to affect him this season. He has been a placekicker, kickoff specialist and punter for the majority of the time he’s been playing football since he solely focused on it in the 8th grade.

When it comes time for Reichard to make his decision, Alabama could have a few advantages over Georgia, LSU and Oregon, including Jeff Banks and the school’s proximity to Hoover.

“I think Coach Banks is the best in the business or at least one of the best, in my opinion,” Reichard said.

“Alabama is also really close to home, so all of my family can come watch me play. My father actually passed away from cancer two years ago, so my mom will be the only one left in the house when I leave. I know she’ll want to come watch me play.

“They’ve made me feel special. A lot of my friends go there, so I will know quite a few people who will be there.”

Be sure to check out SEC Country on Friday for an in-depth feature on Reichard and how he overcame the loss of his father.

Amari Kight gets ratings bump

Amari Kight, a 4-star tackle from Thompson High School (Alabaster, Ala.), committed to Alabama this month. Kight has now been ranked as one of the nation’s top 100 players, according to 247Sports.

I expect Kight’s ranking to continue to go up as there will be many eyeballs on Thompson’s football team this season with him and Taulia Tagovailoa on the Warriors’ roster.

Amari Knight will be a 5 star before signing day. He's already almost cracked the top 50

Perhaps they're waiting to see who's at the qb position. The top wr in state last year commented at least once that he didn't like the UA offense. I didn't blame him.

4* WR Mycah Pittman 6-0/195 (CA) hudl

Pittman was very high on Bama after his visit earlier this year. He's currently setting up early fall OVs, and plans to make his decision and commit after his OVs are done. Nebraska Sep 8 (not final), Oregon Sep 13, Bama Sep 22, Florida Oct 6. Ohio St and Wash vying for his 5th OV.

LINK ]Take Two: Will Trey Sanders' brother LEAD HIM to Florida?

5-star RB Trey Sanders

THE STORYLINE

Florida could be emerging as the team to beat for five-star running back Trey Sanders and one big reason is because of a junior college linebacker that committed to the Gators in March and will join the team as a preferred walk-on this summer.

That player just happens to be Trey’s brother, Umstead Sanders, who played at Raymond (Miss.) Hinds C.C. and could be a big piece in the five-star running back’s final decision although many other programs are giving chase to Sanders, who had been committed early to Alabama.

The Sanders brothers have made it no secret in recent interviews that playing together in college is a big deal to them and that could be a possibility in Gainesville. The Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy star seems to love first-year coach Dan Mullen and his staff along with the idea of joining forces with his older brother in The Swamp.

Other powerhouse programs are not giving up. Rated as the second-best running back in the class, Sanders remains wide open after his de-commitment from the Crimson Tide. Georgia, Miami, Florida State, Alabama and others are still aggressively recruiting him.

Will taking Umstead Sanders pay off by landing one of the best running backs in this class or can the five-star running back turn down playing with his brother at Florida?

Note: Umstead Sanders doesn't even have a Rivals player profile page.

FIRST TAKE: COREY BENDER, GATORSTERRITORY.COM

“Regarding Sanders' recruitment, you simply can't overlook the importance of the Gators recently signing his older brother, Umstead Sanders, from the junior college ranks. The five-star prospect has been to Gainesville multiple times over the past couple of months, including for the Orange and Blue Game.

"I don't expect Sanders to make a decision for several months, but the two brothers had always envisioned playing college football together and Florida is the school that can make that happen. It's early in Sanders' recruitment, but the Gators have to be liking their chances early on.”

SECOND TAKE: MIKE FARRELL, RIVALS.COM

“I don’t know how good the brother is. He might be great. He might turn out to be the better of the two. Sometimes, you just can’t tell.

“It would be huge for Florida to land a kid like Trey Sanders. Florida needs to make a statement. Recruiting under (Jim) McElwain wasn’t that great even though the classes finished fairly high. The Gators didn’t win a lot of marquee battles. To get Trey Sanders, who was committed to Alabama, who everybody in the country wants, who is a big back to build an offense around and help out the quarterback situation, that would be huge for them.

“I’m not sure if they’ll get him. I’m not sure if they do get him that his brother would be the reason. But if they do get him, it’s a big deal.”

Note: Sanders visited Miami with his parents and FSU in March and Georgia on April 21 for G-Day. He's from Port St Joe, FL, which is a little east of Panama City Beach. It only takes about an hour more to drive from there to UA than it does to UF.

We might not get Sanders, very possible. But Rivals just don’t like us.
