LINK ]Report: Reserve lineman Brandon Kennedy to transfer from Alabama (BOL, segments)
quote:
Another Alabama offensive lineman is reportedly leaving the football program.
Redshirt sophomore Brandon Kennedy is transferring, according to AL.com’s Matt Zenitz. The reserve lineman will be immediately eligible at his next stop as a graduate transfer.
Kennedy was the Crimson Tide’s backup center a season ago and during the team’s 15 spring practices. Last year, he saw action in three games off the bench against Fresno State, Vanderbilt and Ole Miss but suffered a season-ending foot injury early in the year that limited his playing time. Because of that, Kennedy received a medical redshirt at season’s end...
Kennedy is the second reserve offensive lineman to transfer from Alabama of late, joining Dallas Warmack...
With the two linemen transfers, Alabama will have 16 offensive linemen on its roster for 2018 after its two signees from its 2018 signing class arrive on the Tide campus this summer.
Note: This puts UA's fall roster at 84 scholarship players, including Juco transfer Tevita Musika.
ETA: Best wishes for Dallas and Brandon.

I second that. It is always great when the guys compete and graduate. Hopefully they will get a chance to start and earn a graduate degree where they land.
I know that no other transfers are needed but who is left as potential transfers (outside of someone out of left field)? I am thinking Clark and Knott. Possibly Anderson. Holcombe may focus on baseball. Anybody I'm missing, maybe some other Olineman?

What position does he think he will play?
Just ate crawfish with him. Didn’t try to press him, just not what eating crawfish with family is all about. When outsiders asked he just smiled and said whatever helps the team, he will do.

I'm sure he likes to get away from football and football talk whenever he can. It's good that you give him a break and just let him be family for a little while.

I wonder if there are any grad transfers that we'll go after.

I know Holcombe and Clark have graduated. There will definitely be some guys this December who finish up early, there always are.

There's some discussion of potential candidates starting on page 251 in this thread. It started with regard to how we'll fit a 2019 class size of 27 under the 85 total scholarships limit. There's a link to the 2018 85-Man Roster breakdown in the first post of this thread. It's pretty easy to spot the candidates on that breakdown.

LINK ]Will Alabama pursue Ohio State grad transfer QB Joe Burrow?
Alabama is an unlikely destination for graduate transfer quarterback Joe Burrow.
Alabama is an unlikely destination for graduate transfer quarterback Joe Burrow.

Alabama finished seventh in the 2018 class recruiting rankings, but expect the Crimson Tide to be back on top in 2019. SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner will answer the Recruiting Question of the Day each weekday. You can ask him your questions on Twitter or on Facebook. Find our previous questions and answers here.
Will Bama go after Joey Burrow since he's a grad transfer? - @Jwaldrop32
Joe Burrow, a former 4-star dual-threat prospect in the 2015 class, announced on Tuesday that he will transfer from Ohio State. Burrow becomes the most-coveted quarterback on the market because he has graduated, which means he has no transfer restrictions and two years of eligibility remaining.
Alabama was pursuing a graduate transfer quarterback earlier this spring and had a commitment from former East Carolina QB Gardner Minshew. Minshew quickly changed his mind on the Tide and opted for Washington State instead. Since then, I haven’t heard any talk about adding a graduate transfer quarterback.
I think there’s close to a 0 percent chance that Burrow would pick Alabama if given the chance to. He’s leaving Ohio State because he wasn’t going to win the starting quarterback job, so he’s going to choose somewhere where the path to immediate playing time is clear. That’s why schools such as Florida, LSU and Nebraska are considered the favorites to add Burrow.
We already know that the Tide’s starting quarterback this season is currently on the roster. What we don’t know is if it will be Jalen Hurts or Tua Tagovailoa. I would be surprised if Tagovailoa weren’t the starting QB, though. Burrow would have close to no chance of being the starter for the Tide this fall.
And, no, even if Hurts transfers, as his father suggested might happen if he loses the job to Tagovailoa, this would change nothing for Burrow’s situation because Tagovailoa would be the starter and has at least two more seasons in Tuscaloosa.
If the Tide would still like to add a transfer QB for depth purposes in the coming months, there are a few options out there: Ryan Boyle from Iowa, Chris Chugunov from West Virginia, J.J. Cosentino from Florida State, Jeff George Jr. from Illinois, Tucker Israel from Clemson and Jacob Park from Iowa State.

LINK ]Why a top Alabama TE target isn’t feeling like priority for Tide
Keon Zipperer is one of Alabama's top tight end targets in the 2019 class, but he wants increased communication with the program.

Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Roll Tide-ings, a rundown of everything happening in Alabama Crimson Tide recruiting with Chris Kirschner. In this edition, we talk the latest with one of Alabama’s top tight end targets.
Keon Zipperer wants to hear from Alabama more often
Keon Zipperer is one of Alabama’s top tight end targets in the 2019 class, but he isn’t feeling that way. Zipperer has visited Tuscaloosa twice this year and plans to return at least once more, but he wants to hear from the coaches more often.
“I like Alabama, but I haven’t been hearing from them much,” Zipperer told SEC Country. “I only hear from them about once a week. It means a lot to me when schools stay in touch with me a lot because I want to feel like I’m home.”

The 4-star prospect from Lakeland, Fla., said if schools aren’t showing him attention, then he isn’t going to show much interest in them, either. Zipperer said Miami is the school that is recruiting him the hardest because the Hurricanes are in touch with him every day.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound prospect said he doesn’t have a leader at the moment, but Florida and Miami are considered the teams to beat. From everyone I’ve talked to about Zipperer’s recruitment, the general sense is he’s likely going to stay in the state of Florida to play college football.
Zipperer said he’s open to other opportunities around the country. “Everybody thinks I am going to stay in Florida and go to school, but I really don’t know what I’m going to do yet,” Zipperer said. “If I find a school outside of Florida that I like, I will leave with no problem.”
Zipperer said he is planning to make his college decision around December and will use all of his official visits, which he hasn’t set yet. Even with the Tide’s limited communication, though, he said he intends to make a return visit to Tuscaloosa.
“If they communicate with me more, it would be great, but I am probably going to get back up there at some point,” Zipperer said.

The nation’s No. 3 tight end said Alabama plans to use him in a variety of different ways. He said wide receivers coach Mike Locksley has told him he’d have the chance to split out wide like a true wide receiver, and that is something that appeals to him.
Zipperer said he hopes to play with former Tide defensive back commit Brendan Gant at the next level. Gant is strongly considering Florida, Florida State and Miami. He also wants to play with 4-star Tide Sam linebacker target Lloyd Summerall, who is also strongly considering the in-state Florida schools.
Zipperer seems to be the Tide’s highest-rated tight end option at this time, even with the nation’s top tight end Hudson Henry taking a visit to Tuscaloosa a few weeks ago. Henry’s brothers and father all went to Arkansas, and it would be a surprise if he went anywhere else.
With Zipperer, it seems as if the Tide could become a top choice for him with just increased communication. “I want to hear from them every day,” Zipperer said. “I want to know if I am a top priority to them because I want to feel like I’m at home.”
Alabama can be very selective at tight end this year. Hale Hentges is the only tight end expected to leave the team after this upcoming season, as his eligibility will run out. In 2019, Irv Smith will be a senior, Miller Forristall will be a redshirt junior, Major Tennison and Kedrick James will be juniors, and Michael Parker likely will be a redshirt freshman. There’s quality depth at tight end, so it’s truly not that big of a need this cycle.

Tide wide receiver target eliminates Alabama
Jake Smith, a 4-star wide receiver from Notre Dame Prep (Scottsdale, Ariz.), released his top 2 schools on Tuesday night, and Alabama didn’t make the cut. Smith will commit to either Texas or Southern California. Smith visited Alabama in December, and it seemed that the Tide were one of his top options at the time.
Just as at tight end, Alabama can be selective at wide receiver with the amount of quality young depth at the position. With Smith out of the equation, the Tide are still targeting 4-star Louisiana prospect Devonta Lee, who we wrote about on Monday, Missouri receivers Marcus Washington and Jameson Williams, 4-star Californian Mycah Pittman, 4-star Kentucky prospect Milton Wright and 4-star Georgia prospect Zion Puckett.

Daxton Hill just got a CB for what school?
Posted on 5/8/18 at 10:47 pm to bloodtide 39
Daxton Hill has picked up 4 Oklahoma CBs in the last 2 days: From 2 OU mods, 1 Ohio St mod and 1 247 Recruiting Insider.

Sucks , hope it turns out like Surtain Jr from last year.

I think I've figured out what triggered those CBs, based on this 247Sports article: Kurelic: Shaw, Hickman, Battle and Cross; more OSU recruiting.
Ohio State has been recruiting Daxton Hill hard and Hill had shown significant interest in return. But, Ohio State has now flipped a safety from Wisconsin and is also trending very well for other safeties. So it now seems much less likely that Hill would go to Ohio State.
I don't think the guys putting in those CBs realize how much interest Daxton Hill has in Bama and just assume he'll now opt for OU. In other words, I think we're alright. And, we might even be in a better position now, with Ohio State appearing to be less of a threat for Hill.

Didn’t OKL load up on some DBs already. I know they loaded up with WR!!
Posted on 5/8/18 at 11:53 pm to bloodtide 39
I read recently (article segment) that Daxton Hill doesnt seem all that likely to choose OU. They want two safeties and two corners. Hill wasn't showing OU enough interest to give them much confidence, so OU pushed for and got two other safety commits, Jerrian Jones being one of them. OU is after two pure corners now and not pushing for Hill, but might take him if he wanted in, because of his talent. So at this point, I think our chances with Hill are pretty good.
