Good luck post was requested and it would be rude to deny it from someone who works as hard in this thread as Surge.

Did this board change its format today? All of a sudden it's so tiny I can't even see it and it's the only web site doing it on my phone.

Same as usual for me. If you use chrome, try going into settings > site settings > all sites > select this site > clear & reset.

Got it. for some reason it had switched out of mobile view. The S9 Plus is nice but it has some quirks. I liked my Nexus 6P better.

LINK ]Tide commit likes other colleges, but ‘no other school makes me feel like Alabama does’

Javier Morton committed to Alabama under former defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley.

Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Roll Tide-ings, a rundown of everything happening in Alabama Crimson Tide recruiting with Chris Kirschner. In this edition, we talk the latest with two of Alabama’s current commitments.

Javier Morton locked in with Alabama

Javier Morton committed to Alabama in December when Derrick Ansley was the defensive backs coach and Jeremy Pruitt was the defensive coordinator. Usually when recruits commit to almost an entirely different staff, they tend to back off their verbal commitments. Morton hasn’t given that one thought, though.

Morton, a Class of 2020 4-star cornerback from Stephenson High School (Stone Mountain, Ga.), was back in Tuscaloosa for A-Day two weeks ago. It was his second trip to Alabama since his commitment. While he does have interest in other schools, he admits it’s going to be difficult for any of them to change his mind on Alabama.

“There’s no other school out there that makes me feel like Alabama does,” Morton told SEC Country. “Some schools just tell you only what you want to hear. Alabama keeps it real with you. I also like how they prioritize academics. Some schools don’t even bring up academics. It’s all about football. The Alabama coaches are concerned with academics, and I like that.”

The nation’s No. 11 cornerback in the 2020 class had a good relationship with Ansley before he left to coach the Oakland Raiders secondary. It was one of the biggest reasons why he chose the Tide, but he has since formed a tight bond with new defensive backs coach Karl Scott.

“I talk to Coach Scott all of the time,” Morton said. “I’m still a high priority to them. Coach Scott likes what I do in coverage. He likes my zone coverage and play recognition. Coach Scott also keeps it real with me with what I need to work on. We’re going to be straight with him. He wants us to be great. I like him a lot. He made me feel like I was at home when I was there.”

The 6-foot-2, 195-pound prospect has been trying to get his teammate Nazir Stackhouse, a Class of 2020 4-star defensive tackle committed to Georgia, to flip his commitment to the Tide. He’s also been building relationships with the other commitments. When he was in Tuscaloosa for A-Day, he got to hang out with recent Tide commit Dazalin Worsham, a 4-star receiver from Hewitt-Trussville High School (Trussville, Ala.).

What would Morton say to those recruits who are undecided on Alabama? “They prepare us to be great for football and after football,” Morton said. “We’re just not athletes at Alabama; we’re students, too. They build our character there. That’s the place where I feel like I can be great at.”

Rashad Cheney Jr. also locked in with Alabama

Rashad Cheney committed to Alabama last month, and his recruitment is over. He isn’t planning on taking any official visits elsewhere this fall. He promised coach Nick Saban when he committed to the team that he wouldn’t consider any other schools.

Cheney, a 4-star defensive lineman from Cedar Grove High School (Ellenwood, Ga.), made his first trip back to Tuscaloosa since his commitment two weekends ago when he was in town for A-Day.

“It felt different to visit as a commit,” Cheney said. “Just talking to Nick Saban is unbelievable. He’s the greatest coach to ever coach in college football. When I was there, he just told me that I need to be ready to work when I get down there.”

Now that he has been committed to the Tide for a month, his role has shifted to being a recruiter for the Tide. Cheney is teammates with the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver, Jadon Haselwood. Haselwood, a 5-star prospect, is committed to Georgia, but his recruitment isn’t over yet. He took an official visit to Oklahoma last month and has shown interest elsewhere.

Cheney said he wants to bring Haselwood with him to Tuscaloosa the next time he visits. Alabama doesn’t have any wide receivers currently committed to the program.

“I’m trying to get Jadon Haselwood to come with me to Alabama,” Cheney said. “They were recruiting him as a safety when Coach Ansley was there, but he wants to play receiver. We’re really close, but you know he’s on Georgia and Oklahoma.”

The 6-2, 268-pound prospect has quickly become friends with 5-star Alabama tackle commit Pierce Quick. The two met at A-Day, and Cheney said he feels like he has known Quick all of his life already because he’s so welcoming.

Cedar Grove, Cheney’s school, and Hewitt-Trussville, Quick’s school, will face each other on Aug. 25 in Hoover, Ala. Hewitt-Trussville is also the home of 4-star Tide quarterback commit Paul Tyson and 4-star wide receiver Dazalin Worsham. Cheney is expecting to go up against Quick all game long.

Cheney is one of the quicker defensive linemen in the country, but he’s not the tallest. He’s 6-2 and weighs 268 pounds. The Tide have compared Cheney to Jonathan Allen, who arrived in Tuscaloosa at 6-3 and around 260 pounds. He’s now up to 288 pounds and was drafted in the first round by the Washington Redskins last year.

“They turned him into a whole defensive tackle when he left,” Cheney said of Allen. “He played around 280 to 285 pounds. They think we have similar athleticism.

“Coach [Scott] Cochran played a big role in my decision. I know I’m going to have to put on weight. He’s the best to do it. Most of the schools I visited, their players may be as tall as Alabama’s, but they don’t have the muscles that Alabama’s players have. Those dudes have muscles everywhere.”
