Miami boards are always screaming SEC bagman. Meanwhile most whitewash their own NCAA transgressions. LSU and Miami (internet) fanbases are really kindred spirits in a lot of ways. They believe that all kids from their area should attend their school and anyone who doesn't is a traitor, especially if they go to Bama. Inflated image of where they stand among college football elites. Both spurned by Saban (Dolphins fans) and believe he works intentionally to keep them down. Constant talk about bagmen while they remain a clean program. Their campus/city is better than anywhere else. Miami just has an additional private school education/SEC schools are all racist schitck on top of that, but they are eerily similar.
It will be somewhat amusing watching them play this fall and checking out their boards.

Four Grayson HS (Loganville, GA) players are committing on Tuesday (May 1), 4:00 pm CT:
4* OT LINK ]Wanya Morris (UT vs AU)
4* LB LINK ]Kevin Harris (UA vs Miami)
5* LB LINK ]Owen Pappoe (AU vs UGA)
4* DB LINK ]Kenyatta Watson II (TX vs ND)
The Owen Pappoe SECrb thread (page 11) has some interesting info on Grayson HS. It says Kirby isn't very popular at talent rich Grayson, partly due to Kenyatta Watson Sr.'s ties there.
More Grayson HS Class of 2019 talent:
4* WR Kenyon Jackson ( ATM commit)
4* OT Trente Jones (Michigan commit)
4* Ath Ronald Thompkins (Bama RB target)

As a FSU alumn who grew up going to Bama games, I’ve interacted with a lot of fan bases from both the SEC and ACC.
I can confirm that Miami fans are THE WORST fan base I’ve ever encountered. Similar to LSU sure, but infinitely more hostile and aggressive. I’ll never go to a FSU/Miami game again due to the sheer number of fights Miami fans instigate with opposing crowds. It’s literally what they live for

Kevin Harris -- Cory Fravel (Clemson mod) and Sam Speigelman (SEC Country, LSU) switched their CB picks to Bama last night.

Reading up on Kenyatta Sr. doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies about recruiting kids from Grayson. Although he was before Kenyatta showed up, Knemdiche being from there doesn't make me feel any better. It looks like outside of DeAngelo Gibbs UGA haven't had much success there historically, but it doesn't look like Grayson ever had this level of talent before. Looks like they heavily started recruiting football players recently.
Currently Grayson has 7 kids in the top 40 composite ranking for GA (6 of them 4 stars or better) and none look slated to go to UGA. That seems crazy in the Kirby era. I am interested to see how in-state pans out for them this year.
I really like Harris, but the fact that he tends to change his mind a lot and Grayson maybe having some issues, makes me less concerned if he doesn't choose to stick with us.

LINK ]Looking at Alabama's 2019 recruiting class (BamaOnLine)
#ROLL1N9
quote:
This year and last are polar opposites in terms of where Alabama was recruiting-wise. The Crimson Tide sat outside the top 50 of the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings for most of the spring and summer, and went commit-less from January to June.
This year, in April alone, UA has added seven new commitments and currently ranks No. 2 in the standings. To start the month off fresh, BamaOnLine takes a look at each of Bama's 10 commitments in its current class.

LINK ]QB Paul Tyson -- The Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) product was one of the first recruits to get the momentum kickstarted for the Tide early in the month of April. The great-grandson of Paul "Bear" Bryant chose the Crimson Tide over several other offers including LSU, Michigan, Kentucky, and Notre Dame. The four-star signal caller was the first scholarship quarterback commitment for the Tide since Tua Tagovailoa joined the 2017 class in May of 2016.
Why Alabama? “I really tried to go through this with an open mind and tried to find the best home for me and Alabama felt like home and it always has been," Tyson said at the time of his commitment. "It’s been a great ride and recruiting process, but Alabama is a great fit. The coaching staff, especially with the new coaches, it works out to be my type of offense, it’s close to home, with my great grandfather and everything it works out almost perfectly.
“It’s meant to be.”

LINK ]OL Tanner Bowles -- Bowles had only been mentioned as a target once or twice on BOL, but after an A-Day visit to Tuscaloosa, the four-star tackle from Kentucky's mind was made up. The 6-foot-5, 280-pounder chose the Tide over his home-state Wildcats, Florida State, and Notre Dame, among others, setting the Tide up to potentially sign one of the top offensive line classes ever.
Why Alabama? “I loved it,” Bowles said at the time of his commitment. “It was amazing. It was everything I thought it was and what I needed to see and verbally committed. I verbally committed to Coach (Nick) Saban and Coach (Brent) Key.

![]()
LINK ]DL Rashad Cheney - Alabama needs defensive linemen in 2019 and identified Cheney as a priority target early. The one-time Georgia commit reopened his recruitment at the end of January and didn't wait too long to decide on the Tide over other offers from Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Penn State, among others.
Why Alabama? “My goal is to be great,” Cheney said. “Not just on the field, but off the field. I feel like Alabama, I’ll be pushed to be my best. Not saying other colleges don’t do that, but Coach Saban and his staff do it the best. A lot of people are going to say my decision is dumb, but at the end of the day it’s going to pay off.”

![]()
LINK ]QB Taulia "Lia" Tagovailoa -- It was clear Bama hoped to sign two quarterbacks in the 2019 cycle after not bringing one in on scholarship in 2018. Both Tyson and Tagovailoa were identified as the priority targets. After Tyson joined the class earlier in the month, Tagovailoa's father told BOL that it would have no affect on his son's recruitment, and that was clearly the case when the Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson QB committed to UA on A-Day over schools like Nebraska, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
Why Alabama? "It’s a blessing for both of my boys at the same school," Galu Tagovailoa, Taulia's father, said. "They both feel it’s best for them. They like being around each other. The plan now is for to Lia to focus on his senior season and graduate early so he can enroll early."

LINK ]LB King Mwikuta -- Mwikuta was one of the first commitments in the class when he announced his intentions on Dec. 15, his birthday. The four-star linebacker from Lagrange (Ga.) Troup County chose Bama over Miami and Florida State. Mwikuta is one of the Tide's most solid pledges in the class. He recently admitted his dream school is Miami, but said Tide fans shouldn't worry.
Why Alabama? “It’s a lot of stuff,” he said. “I tell them you can be good one day, great the next day, but here you’re going to be a champion. That’s not downing other schools. I mean, Miami is my dream school. I’m a diehard Miami fan. But I knew that Bama is going to get me where I needed to be. And I want to be coached by the greatest coach in college football history.”

LINK ]ATH Brandon Turnage -- Turnage was another early commitment in the 2019 class, making his decision known back in December. The Oxford (Miss.) Lafayette product continues to take visits elsewhere, but, when asked about his status, remains firm with his pledge. The four-star athlete, who likely projects as a safety, says one of the biggest reasons he chose the Tide was for its sports medicine.
Why Alabama? “What really went into the decision was being that I had an injury — I tore my Lisfranc ligament in my foot — and Bama has had players have tears and they’ve worked with those players and still got them to the league,” Turnage said. “That was a big factor in it.”
Note: Apparently Brandon Turnage's foot is fine now. He's competing on his HS track team.

LINK ]DB Christian Williams -- The Daphne (Ala.) product grew up an Alabama fan but, before making a commitment, took a number of visits elsewhere to make sure the Tide was the school for him. The four-star corner ultimately decided it was the best option over programs like Auburn, LSU, and Tennessee.
Why Alabama? “Honestly, I’ve been talking to my parents and the coaches about it,” Williams said. “I wanted to commit a little bit earlier, but my parents wanted me to visit places and everything and see if it was the right choice. Honestly, Alabama is where I wanted to go since I was a little kid. I just felt like it was the right time, I guess. Also, to secure myself a spot.”

LINK ]LB Shane Lee -- Lee didn't wait long to make a commitment after taking his first-ever visit to Tuscaloosa last month. The former teammate of UA signee Eyabi Anoma chose the Tide over Ohio State and Penn State, among others.
Why Alabama? “Just because everything that it stands for,” Lee said. “Coach Saban talked about hard work and really developing you as a person and a football player. The fact that winning is an expectation, not a goal. It’s that kind of environment. You’re either going to get better or you’re not going to be there anymore. I just liked that aspect of it.”

LINK ]OL Amari Kight -- Kight became the latest addition to the Tide's 2019 class when he released an exclusive video with 247Sports on Sunday evening. A teammate of Taulia Tagovailoa, Kight had a number of suitors including Auburn, LSU, Oklahoma, and Tennessee, among others.
Why Alabama? “The tradition there,” Kight told BamaOnLine of why he chose Bama. “They have just about the best program in the country, they’ve been consistent, and Coach (Nick) Saban has put a lot of people in the NFL.”

LINK ]OL Pierce Quick -- Quick is the Tide's longest-tenured commitment in the 2019 class after making his decision during A-Day 2017. The five-star tackle is considered one of the leaders of the class alongside his quarterback Paul Tyson. Quick recently shut down his recruitment in terms of taking other visits and is solely focused on helping UA build its class.
Why Alabama? “Well I grew up an Alabama fan, and to have the opportunity to play there … the day I figured it out it was one of the best days of my life,” Quick said at the time of his decision. “Now to say that I am a commit to the University of Alabama, it’s incredible.”

On Owen Pappoe -- I remember him being a target of ours for a long time. Why did he come down to an AU/UGA battle, and why in the world would he choose Auburn? They haven't had a linebacker drafted in, what, 10 years?
