Breaking: Elite OL Amari Kight commits to Alabama (BamaOnLine)
quote:
Alabama’s offensive line class is shaping up to be one of the best ever. Four-star offensive tackle Amari Kight announced his commitment to the Crimson Tide on Sunday evening a week after a visit to Tuscaloosa for A-Day. The Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson product chose the Crimson Tide over several programs, including Auburn, Georgia, Oklahoma, LSU, and Tennessee, among others.
“The tradition there,” Kight told BamaOnLine of why he chose Bama. “They have just about the best program in the country, they’ve been consistent, and Coach (Nick) Saban has put a lot of people in the NFL.” The four-star lineman added that the people at Alabama set the program apart from others.
Kight’s family grew up rooting for the Tide, so it’s no surprise that Alabama was trending for him at the time of his commitment on the 247Sports Crystal Ball. “Just being able to say that I’m committing to Bama after growing up watching them and seeing all their success and being able to be a part of that, it’s a pretty big deal to me,” Kight said.
The four-star tackle is the second of the in-state trio of elite offensive linemen to commit to the Tide joining five-star tackle Pierce Quick. All eyes now turn to five-star center Clay Webb to complete the trifecta. UA also landed four-star offensive tackle Tanner Bowles a week ago today.

Tide defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi took over the Shelby County area this offseason and is officially credited with landing Kight. It’s offensive line coach Brent Key that’s also played a very important role in his recruitment as well, not to mention peer-to-peer recruiting from Quick, and now fellow UA commit Paul Tyson.
“We have a really good relationship,” Kight said of Key. “I talk to him a couple times a week. Pierce (Quick) and Paul (Tyson) played a pretty decent sized role. I had a lot of time to talk to them last week going to A-Day, and then they were at the Elite 11 with me.”
Kight is the second Alabama target at Thompson to commit to the Tide joining four-star quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa. UA now holds QB-OT commitments from both the Thompson and Hewitt-Trussville (Ala.) programs.
It’s clear with the trajectory of the Tide’s current class that in-state recruiting is a priority with the wealth of talent within the borders. Alabama now holds commitments from four of the top 10 players in the state with its sights set on a number of others this cycle.
At 6-foot-7, 315 pounds, Kight is rated the No. 8 offensive tackle and the No. 52 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings. Kight is commitment No. 10 of the class, boosting the Tide to No. 2 in the country, according to the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings.
Don’t expect the Tide’s offensive line hunt to end here, along with its sights set on Webb, Alabama is recruiting several other big-time linemen like five-star tackles Darnell Wright, Devontae Dobbs, and Kenyon Green; four-star tackles Tyler Johnson and Xavier Truss; and three-star guard Kamaar Bell, among others.

He just got a big bump in the Composite up to around #50. He'll wind up a 5 star, just as a former Bama OL'man has been saying for about half a year now. Elite talent.

(SEC Country)
Amari Kight is one of Alabama's top overall targets in the 2019 class.

Amari Kight, a 4-star offensive tackle from Thompson High School (Alabaster, Ala.), has committed to Alabama. The Crimson Tide could have one of the best offensive line classes in the Nick Saban era, and a huge piece of that puzzle has just joined the Tide’s 2019 class.
Kight released his top 10 schools at the end of last month, but this recruitment had been trending Alabama’s way for several months now. Kight’s other 9 schools that made the cut were Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee and Texas A&M. The nation’s No. 8 offensive tackle has been a lifelong Bama fan and has made numerous trips to Tuscaloosa since he became a national recruit.
Thompson coach Mark Freeman told SEC Country what kind of player the Tide are getting in his star offensive lineman. “First of all, he’s a tremendous person and comes from a great family,” Freeman said. “He’s a very hard worker with unlimited upside. He’s nowhere near his max potential yet. “I really feel he is a 10-year NFL guy. I love him.”

The 6-foot-7, 315-pound prospect joins 5-star tackle Pierce Quick as the two current offensive linemen in the Tide’s 2019 class. Alabama is also trying to sign 5-star center Clay Webb and 5-star tackle Darnell Wright, who visited A-Day weekend. If Alabama signed Kight, Quick, Webb and Wright, it would be the best offensive line class on paper since Saban arrived in Tuscaloosa.

Now we just need commits from Webb and Wright and at Oline we can call it a night. Yes, that rhyme was intentional.

Amari Kight, ESPN 300 lineman, gives Tide sixth top-100 commit (ESPN)

quote:>>> Highlights - hudl
Alabama landed its 7th commitment in the month of April when ESPN 300 offensive lineman Amari Kight announced his decision to join the Alabama recruiting class Sunday. Kight is the No. 43-ranked prospect overall and chose the Tide over Auburn, LSU, Georgia and Oklahoma, among others.
"Alabama is home for me," Kight said. "I connect with the people well, and I just felt like it's the place where I could be most successful."
Kight, a 6-foot-7, 310-pound tackle from Alabaster, Alabama, gives Alabama six top-100 ranked commitments and three ESPN 300 offensive line commits in the class. He joins offensive tackle Pierce Quick, the No. 2 tackle in the class, as well as Tanner Bowles.
What is remarkable about this class for the Tide is that on April 20 of last year, the coaching staff only had three total commitments. They now have 10 total commits, with nine of those ranking in the ESPN 300.
With Kight's commitment, Alabama now has the most ESPN 300 commitments of any program. Texas A&M and Florida State are right behind the Tide with eight ESPN 300 prospects on board, with Georgia, Oklahoma and Michigan behind them with seven a piece.

Kight's rollin' with the Tide

quote:>>> Highlights - hudl
Rivals 250 offensive tackle Amari Kight of Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson took visits to Alabama, Auburn and Georgia this spring, but that last one to Tuscaloosa for A-Day April 21 pushed him to commit to the Crimson Tide.
The 6-foot-6, 300 pounder decided a few days ago that he was ready to make his decision and he breaks down his decision with Rivals.
IN HIS OWN WORDS: "When I was at Alabama last week for A-Day, it really sealed the deal," said Kight. "It just felt like the right time to commit. Alabama has great tradition, I have a great connection with the people there and it feels like home for me there.
"I was not planning to commit this early, so it just kind of happened. A few days after the spring game is when I made the decision. I called up coach (Brent) Key and gave him the news. He was excited and when I told him, he was with his dog, and he even said his dog was excited about my commitment.
"Coach Key played a role in my decision. I like him a lot, I feel comfortable with him and I see him as a great coach. He is fun to be around, but at the same time, he is a great teacher. I feel he can get me to where I want to be as an offensive lineman.
"I watched the NFL Draft and I saw all of the Alabama guys being drafted, so that played into it too. That is where I want to be one day, so that was pretty important.
"I grew up a big Alabama fan, so it is a great feeling to be committed to them. I started following Alabama right when coach [Nick] Saban took over. One of the first players I remember watching was Andre Smith and he did great things at Alabama. That is what I want to do.
"Being around the people at Alabama when I was there for the spring game just made me feel like it was time to commit. I don't really know who the No. 2 school was, but Alabama is on top."
RIVALS REACTION: Kight earned an invite to the Rivals 100 Five-Star Challenge after his performance a few weeks ago in Atlanta. He is a very impressive offensive tackle and one thing that stood out more than it did a year ago was his confidence.
He moves well, he has a great frame and he will now partner up with another top tackle at Alabama in Pierce Quick. Saban, Key and that staff have a chance to sign an elite group of offensive linemen this cycle. Kight has the ability to be an All-Conference guy on the next level. He has improved a lot over the last year and he has a very high ceiling.

What Tide is getting in Top100 OL Amari Kight (BamaOnLine)
Hey, Wiltfong, we gettin' Darnell Wright too.

quote:>>> Highlights - hudl
Alabama’s offensive line class got better on Sunday with the addition of four-star offensive tackle Amari Kight. The Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson product joins five-star tackle Pierce Quick and four-star tackle Tanner Bowles as the offensive line pledges in UA’s class at the moment.
247Sports national analyst Steve Wiltfong breaks down what the Tide is getting the 6-foot-7, 315-pound Kight.
“Alabama is going to sign the No. 1 the offensive line class in the country this cycle and Amari Kight is another de-cleater at the position. He’s a knockdown machine and a finisher at the tackle spot. He appears to have the traits to be a left tackle, but certainly could play either of the tackle spots.
"He can get out in the open field and run and block people at the second and third levels. He’s has the feet to block those quick pass rushers on the perimeter. He’s got the feet and balance in pass protection, plays with the mean streak, and can even handle the smaller guys rushing off the edge.
“Similar to Pierce Quick, there’s a lot of de-cleating. They dominate people in each ball game. I really like how quickly he can get to the second level and get a hat on those guys, too. He’s a bonafide Top100 guy in my opinion. You get Amari Kight, Pierce Quick, Tanner Bowles, and if you get Clay Webb, what an athletic, mean physical group. Those guys are all pretty versatile.
“This is on track to be, on paper, the best offensive line class Nick Saban has recruited at Alabama.”
Kight is rated the No. 8 offensive tackle and the No. 52 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings.
Hey, Wiltfong, we gettin' Darnell Wright too.

Anybody have any idea of what the LB board might look like right now with Harris likely headed to Miami for the time being? I know we have King and Lee onboard and Dean is a top priority. With Pappoe a long shot and Brooks going to Louisiana anybody know who we are looking at after Dean?
