Oh, I don't think we should slow play him at all. I just have zero faith that Saban will make a good decision, pertaining to kickers

Bulovas looked damn good on Saturday, but maybe we want to see Reichard make more than one field goal this Fall.

Surge, who's your pick to be the next commit? My guess was the kicker from Hoover, but I'm beginning to think we are slow playing him to see how our kicker looks this fall.
Reliable insider said just minutes ago that we have 3 silents who could go public when they get the OK to do so. My guesses for those 3 are Kight, Reichard and Dale. I've wondered if Bama might be moving things slowly with Reichard, but then I remembered he's highly rated as both a kicker and as a punter. So, I think that makes it more likely he's a take.

That's a fair point.
.
I would also like to say that Gattis is skyrocketing to the top of my favorite Bama coach list. That son of a gun is working his arse off.
Right now the rankings are
1) Tosh
2) Gattis
Holy shite, NFL Commissioner is getting brutalized by the Dallas fans

All of the staff are out on the road this week seeing recruits at their schools and some practices; e.g., Gattis saw Crouch and Alfano, Tosh seeing Dale, Key at Trussville today...

Top-10 LB King Mwikuta has message for Terry Saban, proclaims Tide will have #1 signing class
King Mwikuta is one of Bama's 2019 class leaders.

Welcome to SEC Country’s daily Roll Tide-ings, a rundown of everything happening in Alabama Crimson Tide recruiting with Chris Kirschner. In this edition, we talk the latest with one of Alabama’s linebacker commits.
King Mwikuta is finished with his own recruitment
King Mwikuta committed to Alabama on Dec. 15, 2017, which was his birthday. That was the final day of his recruitment. He’s locked in with the Crimson Tide and has focused on recruiting uncommitted players.

Mwikuta, a 4-star outside linebacker from Troup County High School (LaGrange, Ga.), was in Tuscaloosa on Saturday for A-Day. He patrolled the sidelines, talking to those recruits the Tide are interested in, such as 4-star defensive tackle DJ Dale, who seems close to making a commitment. Dale is one of the team’s top interior defensive line targets.
“I want him badly,” Mwikuta told SEC Country. “And he plays on the interior [defensive line]? Man, I want him. [Five-star Alabama tackle commit] Pierce [Quick] and I were talking to him. We’re going to get that done. I thought he committed on Saturday.
“And then I want [5-star UGA commit] Nolan Smith, [5-star defensive tackle] Travon Walker and [4-star safety] Trikweze Bridges. I want those guys badly. I would say we have a 1 percent chance to get Nolan. I would love to have them, though. I started this recruiting process with Nolan and Travon. And with Trikweze, I think we have a chance with him. I’m bringing him to camp with me this summer so he can get analyzed.”

When Mwikuta wasn’t talking with other recruits, he was in search for Terry Saban — coach Nick Saban’s wife. One of the first questions Mwikuta had for his future coach was where Terry was. Not seeing her was the worst part of his Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa.
“I didn’t get a chance to see Mrs. Terry,” Mwikuta said. “I’m mad about that. You have to put that in the story. Please say, ‘King Mwikuta is looking for Mrs. Terry.’ I love Mrs. Terry. I’m mad I didn’t see her. Please, you have to put that in the story. Terry Saban, King Mwikuta is looking for you.”
That is the kind of personality Mwikuta has. He might have the biggest personality I’ve seen since I started covering recruiting in 2015. He’s going to say whatever is on his mind, and it’s usually done with a smile on his face.
Such as when he explained why Quick, who is certainly one of the best peer recruiters the Tide have had in recent memory, needs to slow down so Mwikuta can start getting some commitments on his own.
“Coach Saban has told me that he wants me to be one of the leaders of this class,” Mwikuta said. “I’ve been trying to get these guys, but Pierce has been getting more than me. He needs to slow down. It’s all good, man, that’s my boy.”

Since Mwikuta committed to the Tide, other schools have backed off recruiting him. Mwikuta said he believes that those coaches can see he’s 100 percent locked in with Alabama. The only coach he mentioned who is still trying to come after him is Florida defensive line coach and former Alabama linebackers coach Sal Sunseri.
Mwikuta said Sunseri hits his phone up from time to time. “He tells me what’s up and I tell him what’s up, too. It’s a respect thing,” Mwikuta said. “If I see these coaches, though, I thank them for recruiting me because you do want to have various options when you do make your decision.”
As a true sign to really show his recruitment is over with, Mwikuta will not use all five of his official visits. He will only take one — to Alabama — this fall. “Why would I take official visits to other schools when you already know where you’re going?” Mwikuta rhetorically asked.
He’s now focused on getting Alabama back on top of the recruiting rankings. The Tide have the No. 4 class in the country, but there’s a good chance the Tide end up back at No. 1 come February, especially if Mwikuta has it his way.
“Oklahoma has the No. 1 class in the country right now, but we got some things in the bag for that. It’s all good. We’re going to have the top class,” he said.

5-star DT Ishmael Sopsher talks Tigers

LSU pushing hardest for Ishmael Sopsher
Ishmael Sopsher is finally exploring campuses other than LSU and diving into the recruiting process. Still, there is one noticeable trend regarding who’s recruiting him the hardest.
“Every school is recruiting me hard, but LSU is coming after me the hardest just because they’re the home school. I talk to them every day,” Sopsher said.
The 5-star defensive tackle from Amite (La.) High School told SEC Country the same thing last fall when he released his original list of top 10 schools. There were several notable college powerhouses included in that exclusive group, but he sad LSU was standing out because of its persistent push.
The nation’s top defensive tackle has been a mainstay in Baton Rouge this spring. Sopsher was on hand for LSU’s elite junior day and returned for the first day of spring practice in March. But eyes certainly were opened when he made a Monday unofficial visit to Texas A&M and then attended Alabama’s A-Day instead of the Tigers’ spring game last Saturday.

Asked about the difference between the Tigers and the Crimson Tide, the 2019 Under Armour All-American had this to say:
“Alabama is a championship-caliber team, and I feel like LSU is also a championship-caliber team, too,” Sopsher explained. “But, it’s all about the physicality and the work they put in on and off the field at Alabama. I’m not saying LSU isn’t dedicated to themselves, but Alabama always outworks its opponent every week.”
Alabama’s national championship pedigree speaks for itself, and Nick Saban’s résumé towers over every other coach in college football.
The 6-foot-5, 285-pound defensive lineman is certainly chasing rings, but he has other X-factors in mind to determine which school will get his commitment on National Signing Day in February.
“My biggest reason for picking a college is coaching, feeling comfortable, education and getting prepared for the NFL,” Sopsher said.

Predicting whether Alabama will sign Ishmael Sopsher, nation’s No. 1 DT
Ishmael Sopsher is a top target for Alabama.

Alabama finished seventh in the 2018 class recruiting rankings, but expect the Crimson Tide to be back on top in 2019. SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner will answer the Recruiting Question of the Day each weekday. You can ask him your questions on Twitter or on Facebook. Find our previous questions and answers here.
Do u see Sopster committing to us?
-- Terry Truss @InGodITruss1
Alabama hosted the nation’s No. 1 defensive tackle Ishmael Sopsher over the weekend when he was in town for A-Day. It was his first trip to Tuscaloosa in almost a year.
In case you missed my story on Sopsher on Wednesday night, the 5-star prospect admitted that he was not strongly considering the Tide for a while because of his view of former defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. He would not go into detail about why he didn’t like Pruitt, but he said the coaching change to Tosh Lupoi as defensive coordinator is why he’s now considering Alabama.
LSU is seen as the favorite by many recruiting experts because of its proximity to Amite (La.) High School. It’s about an hour away from the high school he attends, but Sopsher was clear that distance to his family isn’t a big deal.
“I will say that any school can get me at the moment. My recruitment is completely open,” Sopsher said. “I also don’t care how close the school is to home. That doesn’t matter. If this school is going to prepare me for the NFL and get me a good education and I feel very comfortable there, that’s the school I’m going to be at no matter where it is.”

It sounds as if Sopsher believes that Alabama is one of those schools that fits what he’s looking for.
“Alabama is always going to treat you right,” he said. “The hospitality is always great when you go there. Every time I go there, I just feel very comfortable. It didn’t feel any different this time.
“With Alabama, it’s all about competing. It doesn’t matter where you go, but you’re going to have to compete. That’s just the way it goes. They told me that Isaiah Buggs is leaving after this year and Raekwon Davis may leave early. There are definitely spots open, but it doesn’t matter to me. They can put me anywhere and I’m going to compete.”
Sopsher has said he won’t announce his decision until National Signing Day in February, and I feel as if his decision will come down to Alabama or LSU. The Tide have his former teammate on board in sophomore wide receiver DeVonta Smith and could add his current teammate, 4-star wide receiver Devonta Lee.
There’s also the nugget that his father is friends and former high school teammates with assistant director of player personnel Sam Pettito. While Sopsher isn’t as close to Petitto as Smith is, it doesn’t hurt that there’s history there with his family.
And then there’s this quote breaking down the main difference between Alabama and LSU.
“Alabama is a championship-caliber team, and I feel like LSU is also a championship-caliber team, too,” Sopsher said. “But, it’s all about the physicality and the work they put in on and off the field at Alabama. I’m not saying LSU isn’t dedicated to themselves, but Alabama always outworks its opponent every week.”
It certainly seems as if the Tide are in good position to land the nation’s No. 1 defensive tackle.
