Breaking: Taulia Tagovailoa joins brother, commits to Alabama (BamaOnLine)

Nearly two years to the day after his older brother took to a Hawaiian news station to announce his commitment to the Crimson Tide, four-star quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa committed to Alabama on Saturday.
The Alabaster (Ala.) Thompson by way of Kapolei (Hawaii) product made his decision known during a return visit to Tuscaloosa for A-Day over the weekend.
Since moving stateside last spring, there hasn’t been a school more frequented by the Tagovailoa family than the Capstone. “I know basically everything from my brother,” Tagovailoa said of Alabama earlier this year. “It’s fun going over there just to get to be with him.”
The familiarity with the program, the opportunity to play with his older brother, and of course the proximity to home all were critical factors in Tagovailoa’s decision to commit to the Tide over schools like Nebraska, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
“It’s something my parents dream about,” Tagovailoa said earlier in the year should he choose the Tide. “It would be a good thing because I would get to get better and learn from him, especially from what he did this past season.”
The younger Tagovailoa, like his older brother, has made a name for himself on the recruiting circuit at the quarterback position. One of the best overall passers in the class, Tagovailoa ranks as the No. 6 pro-style quarterback and the No. 204 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite rankings.
Tagovailoa won’t be the only man under center in the 2019 cycle for Alabama as he joins four-star quarterback Paul Tyson who committed to the program earlier this month. Both signal callers welcome the competition between one another.
Galu Tagovailoa, Taulia’s father, spoke highly of Tyson earlier this month after the Tide legacy made his decision. “We’re so supportive of Paul’s family and what they have done at the University,” Galu Tagovailoa said. “Prior to us coming here we’ve heard so many good things about the Tyson kid over at Hewitt. (Thompson head coach) Coach (Mark) Freeman speaks so highly about their family. The coaches at Alabama speak so highly about him. We haven’t met him personally, but he looks like such a good kid, such a respectful kid from what I see.”
In his first season leading the Thompson Warriors last fall, the 5-foot-11, 203-pound Tagovailoa passed for 3,820 yards and 36 touchdowns.
The commitment from the four-star QB gives Alabama the No. 2 class in the country, per the 247Sports Team Composite Recruiting Rankings.
Tide defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi led the charge on Tagovailoa like he did with Tua in the 2017 class.

BREAKING: Alabama lands commitment from nation’s #6 QB Taulia Tagovailoa (SEC Country)
Taulia Tagovailoa is Bama's 9th commitment in the 2019 class.

Two quarterbacks who grew up living under the same roof more than 4,000 miles away from Bryant-Denny Stadium are now officially the future of Alabama football.
Taulia Tagovailoa, the brother of Tua Tagovailoa, has committed to the Crimson Tide. The 4-star quarterback from Thompson High School (Alabaster, Ala.) wanted to commit to the Tide the moment he was offered by the team back in the summer of 2016, but his family thought he was too young to make that decision.
Alabama led from the moment he was offered, and it never relinquished its lead. He took visits to South Carolina and Tennessee, but his experience at each school never compared to Alabama.
When the family moved from Ewa Beach, Hawaii to Alabaster, Ala. shortly after Tua enrolled at Alabama in January last year, it was going to be hard for any other team but the Crimson Tide to land his commitment. Family is important to the Tagovailoas, so having his older brother in Tuscaloosa was certainly an advantage for the Tide.
“It would be better for my family if I went there,” Tagovailoa said last month. “They wouldn’t have to travel to other places. We live only an hour away. A lot of things could benefit me if I went there. I think I would fit in [very] well. I would fit right in with my brother.”
Next year will mark the first time since Taulia’s 5th-grade year when they were on the same park league team together, the Ewa Beach Hammerheads. Taulia was actually Tua’s center that season.

How does Taulia compare to Tua?
Will he be a project?
Will he be a project?

I believe he's a little shorter than Tua, but he has about the same arm. He throws right handed

I understand he had a huge arm, good mechanics, and a good understanding of the game. His body knock is that he is short.
