Roydell Williams, 2020 4-star running back, Hueytown (Ala.)
Roydell Williams didn’t grow up a fan of Alabama, but he named the Tide his leader shortly after getting offered earlier this year. Williams is one of the team’s top running back options in the 2020 class. An early commitment is possible.

Two more players to keep an eye on this weekend are 5-star offensive linemen Darnell Wright and Clay Webb. Both of their recruitments are expected to go the distance, but it wouldn’t be too big of a surprise to see both choose Alabama this weekend.
With Wright, his recruitment has turned into an Alabama-Tennessee battle. This could completely swing the Tide’s way by the end of the weekend.
With Webb, I would be very surprised if he didn’t end up at Alabama. He’s very close with Quick and Tyson, and offensive line coach Brent Key is the coach he’s closest to. He actually calls Key an uncle.
It could be an excellent weekend for Alabama as it tries to regain the No. 1 class in the country.

Anyone know why some very highly rated players show a low’ish number of offers?

It might be outlook for qualifying academically or character concerns. Is their a particular player you're wondering about?

An example is Clay Webb. No 1 center and 12 offers per 247. But I have seen this many times.

From what I've read about Clay, I think he didn't want to be recruited by more than a select few schools. He may have told a lot of schools on their first contact to not even bother offering. It can be overwhelming to have 20 or more schools calling, texting and emailing you frequently, along with the recruiting media.
ETA: Btw, I don't think Bama has offered any OCs except Clay.

My guess would be that they know the kid is headed to only a handful of schools then why extend an offer if there’s no chance.

In a recent article about Webb it says he doesn’t report offers. So there’s no telling how many he has.

An article posted earlier said he does not announce offers, so my guess is that the 12 are the only ones known about because they came up in interviews with him.

Shane Lee Wants To Make An Impact On And Off The Field
quote:
Shane Lee has officially announced his commitment to Alabama and it has been something that he has thought about intensively since the 9th grade.
“I have been getting recruited every since my freshman year. I have seen several other schools and all they had to offer,” Lee said. ” But Alabama was different. On my visit, they showed my family and I their academic support program and the football side of things. My family and I felt this was the best place for me. ”
Lee did not have a specific timeline on his recruitment. He felt that he would know when it was the right time to announce his commitment. Now that Lee has verbally committed to Alabama, he has big plans for once he step on campus in 2019.
“I just want to become a better player and a better person as well as get my degree,” Lee added. “I want to grow as a man on and off the field so I can help other people.”
Lee is a product of St. Francis Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, the same high school as Alabama signee, Eyabi Anoma. They both have a great relationship as Anoma has on many occasions inform him on the many opportunities that come with playing at Alabama. Lee also has a relationship with Alabama linebacker, Terrell Lewis.
The Maryland-native also knows all about the winning tradition at Alabama.
“I know I have some big shoes to fill,” Lee said. “Alabama has been unbelievable under Saban. I want to continue to help build on that in the future.”
Alabama is definitely getting a complete stud in Lee. He has great size and is an efficient tackler. He is also the No. 1 layer in the stae of Maryland and is ranked as the No. 3 inside linebacker in the 2019 recruiting class. Alabama Fans should be very excited about this addition to the Tide’s 2019 recruiting class.

Alabama is expected to host an official visitor in Notre Dame defensive line grad transfer Jay Hayes who committed to Oklahoma just five days ago. Like Tide fans experienced with East Carolina quarterback transfer, flips don’t apply to just high school recruits as Minshew opted for Washington State instead of Alabama last month after committing to the Tide in late February. UA has already added one defensive line transfer in Tevita Musika, and certainly has the need still remaining if Hayes decides to change his mind on the Sooners

Nation’s No. 3 ILB explains why single trip to Alabama was all he needed to commit
Shane Lee committed to Alabama on Tuesday.
Shane Lee committed to Alabama on Tuesday.
quote:
Shane Lee told SEC Country he had been to Michigan and Ohio State four or five times. He’d been to Penn State about six times. He couldn’t count all of the times he visited Maryland. It only took one visit to Alabama for the Crimson Tide to land his commitment.
Lee, a 4-star inside linebacker from St. Frances Academy (Baltimore), visited Tuscaloosa April 12 and stayed through Sunday. Because he was able to stay for numerous days, Lee had a chance to see everything the school offered and had several conversations with various staff members, including coach Nick Saban.
“The biggest moment for me was just sitting down and talking to Coach Saban and hearing him talk about how he runs the program and just everything they do,” Lee said. “They put the kids in beneficial situations, from internship opportunities to bringing in speakers to talk to them about different things in life. Then you get to go on the field and compete against the best and get better every day. And then you get to go to national championships and get a nice, big ring. It’s not easy there. Nothing worth having comes easy, and that’s how I like it.”
The nation’s No. 3 inside linebacker didn’t silently commit to Alabama while on his visit. Instead, he and his family traveled back to Maryland and discussed all of the schools they had visited. The Lees sat down as a family, got their priorities in schools in line and figured out which school could best help him achieve the most in football and in life. There was only one school that he felt offered a good mixture of both.
So, during a conversation with Saban on Tuesday, Lee decided that he needed to commit to the Tide. “He [Saban] told me that I wasn’t just committing to football, but I was committing to a lifestyle — the Alabama lifestyle that he and the coaches have created,” Lee said. “It’s something bigger than myself, and it’s going to take a lot of work. He told me that as long as I’m ready to commit to that then he’d be happy to take me and help me grow.”

Lee, the No. 1 prospect in Maryland, is former teammates with Class of 2018 5-star Jack linebacker Eyabi Anoma. Lee said Anoma tried to get him to commit to the Tide after the latter signed with Alabama on National Signing Day. But it’s what he said about his future teammate at Alabama that should excite fans for what’s to come.
“They’re getting someone who loves to compete,” Lee said of Anoma. “Honestly, I’ve never worked with somebody or against somebody who is as big of a competitor as he is. He hates losing. He’s smart and works hard, but his drive puts him over the top. That’s what makes him the best. He’ll be a top draft pick.”
What kind of player is Alabama getting in Lee? “They are getting someone who is 100 percent committed to the team and the University of Alabama,” he said. “I’m going to give it my all for the team at all times.
“I try to help my teammates as much as possible, and I always try to be there for guys if they ever need someone to talk to. I’m always there. When we’re in the weight room and I see they can go something better, I always offer advice. I just always want my teammates to know that I’m always going to be there.”
Lee, who is planning to study business marketing at Alabama, said he doesn’t plan on taking any visits elsewhere. His recruitment is over with.
