If you raise em right, you don't have to worry about it. Hell, if I could afford it, I'd own grizzly bears.

Kamaar Bell‘s first offer was his dream school

Kamaar Bell had no idea when he visited Alabama last week that he his first college scholarship opportunity was coming. And he certainly didn’t know it would be offered by Alabama coach Nick Saban himself. But that’s what happened.

Bell, a 6-foot-3, 330-pound guard from Colquitt County High School (Moultrie, Ga.), didn’t earn the offer from the Tide while on the visit, but he was told the following day that his film was good enough to play for the Tide.

“I was very excited. I was shocked,” Bell told SEC Country. “I was on the phone with Nick Saban when he offered me. I don’t remember exactly what he said because I was so excited, but he just told me that I have an opportunity to play for the University of Alabama.”

Bell had been talking with offensive line coach Brent Key for quite a while, and now he is considered one of the team’s top 2019 offensive line targets, along with 5-star prospects Pierce Quick, Clay Webb, Darnell Wright, Devontae Dobbs and Kenyon Green, plus 4-star target Amari Kight.

Bell isn’t sure why teams haven’t discovered him just yet, but right after he announced his Alabama offer, several schools such as Florida State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Mississippi State and a few others had staff members follow him on Twitter.

But it sounds as if Bell has mind made up that Alabama is going to be the school where he plays. His parents seem to believe that’s the case, too. “They immediately told me that is the school I’m going to, and I just told them that I think it is the school I’m going to,” Bell said. “They just know how to win and they operate like a business.

“My parents are huge Alabama fans. I grew up an Alabama fan, too. I just felt very welcomed when I was there. I like how everyone treated me. I feel like Alabama is a good fit for me.”

Bell said he isn’t sure why he just didn’t commit right then when Saban offered him, but he did say that he still has work to do in the classroom, which could be the likely holdup. Once his grades are squared away, it sounds as if he’ll be on board.

It sounds as if Colquitt County coach Rush Propst is, too. “He’s told me a lot about Alabama,” Bell said of Propst. “He was telling me that is the school I should go to because you’re going to get a good education and even if you don’t go to the NFL, they’ll help you get a job.”

So now that Bell has his dream offer, what’s left for him? “I just need to keep going harder now,” Bell said. “I have already accomplished my goal of getting an Alabama offer, so now I just need to prove myself.”

Nolan Smith and other visitors this weekend

Nolan Smith, a 5-star Jack linebacker committed to Georgia, has been a frequent visitor to Tuscaloosa since his recruitment began, and he’s expected back at Alabama Friday and Saturday. I still believe he’s going to be tough to flip away from the Bulldogs as I get vibes that he just wants to create some intrigue with his recruitment, but he’s making numerous trips for a reason.

Two more important visitors in town this weekend are 4-star inside linebacker Shane Lee and 4-star tackle  Darrian Dalcourt. Both Lee and Dalcourt attend St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, which is where 5-star Jack linebacker Eyabi Anoma, a 2018 signee, goes to school. Lee is one of the Tide’s top inside linebacker targets, and this will be his first visit to Tuscaloosa. Both Lee and Dalcourt are staying Thursday through Sunday.

Julian Fleming, another top Northeast prospect, will be in town Thursday and stay through Friday. Fleming, from Pennsylvania, is the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver in the 2020 class, according to the 247Sports composite.

We already reported earlier this week that defensive lineman  Antonio Alfano will be in town, but there has been a change in his plans. He will now visit Alabama Friday and Saturday before heading to Georgia on Sunday.

North Forest (Texas) High School teammates  Javonne Shepherd, a 4-star tackle, and 2020 4-star wide receiver  Demond Demas will arrive on Friday and stay through Sunday.

LSU defensive tackle commit  Joseph Evans will visit Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

All in all, this is another very good weekend for the Tide with top-flight visitors in town. The list next weekend for A-Day should also be loaded with 5-star prospects and blue-chip players.

Jerrion Ealy's football highlights were pretty fun to watch. Apparently he is a very good baseball player as well so may go MLB.

Please tell me you aren't one of those let your dog roam the yard and then says don't run he don't bite. That thing is far too menacing for that.

Nah, my yard is fenced and I don't let people around him. He'll bite and so will my blue heeler. If they aren't in my back yard or in my house, they are on a leash. I don't take chances at all.
