Bama has chance to sign nation’s #1 kicker

Will Reichard should make commitment shortly.

Alabama finished seventh in the 2018 class recruiting rankings, but expect the Crimson Tide to be back on top in 2019. SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner will answer the Recruiting Question of the Day each weekday. You can ask him your questions on  Twitter or on  Facebook. Find our previous questions and answers  here.

What's Bama's chances with the kicker out of Hoover? Is he a must get?

Will Reichard, the nation’s No. 1 kicker from Hoover (Ala.) High School, has a top 3 of Alabama, Georgia and LSU. He should make his commitment known soon.

I think Alabama has the best chance to land Reichard when he makes his decision. He didn’t grow up an Alabama fan — he was a Florida fan — but because of Tuscaloosa’s proximity to his home, the Tide have the best chance, in my opinion.

He expressed his desire to stay closer to home in an interview with SEC Country last month, and he has said he considers Alabama’s special teams coordinator Jeff Banks to be one of the best coaches. “I think he is the best in the business or at least one of the best, in my opinion,” Reichard said.

“Alabama is also really close to home, so all of my family can come watch me play. My father passed away from cancer two years ago, so my mom will be the only one left in the house when I leave. I know she’ll want to come watch me play.”

Alabama hasn’t had a reliable kicker in several years, and Reichard could be the one to change the negativity surrounding the position in Tuscaloosa. And it’s something that Reichard has thought of.

“I can’t speak for all kickers, but I live for that pressure,” Reichard said. “I want all of the pressure to be on me. I want everyone watching me. I am confident in what I can do. If I was to go to Alabama, I want to change the culture of the kickers in the past. I feel confident that I could do that if Alabama was the school I end up choosing.”

Man the idea that so many people can't live around a group of people of different viewpoints or lifestyles doesn't say much for the future of this country. It makes me sad.

I know this isn't directed at me, but I feel the need to explain why I would never live in California nonetheless.

First off, like Shaft said, the taxes are ridiculous. Secondly, as you pointed out, the cost of living is ludicrous. I saw a house sell the other day for $2 million that would have been abandoned on the side of the road for nothing in Mississippi or Alabama.

Then you have drought, wildfires, flash floods, earthquakes and air pollution.

Then you have the terrible traffic and crime.

I'm active duty military so I engage with people from all backgrounds on a daily basis and have had zero issues getting along with anyone, other than LSU fans, throughout my military service.

I don't care if you're gay, straight, black, white, green, dickless, dickfull, Asian, Mexican or anything that traditionally brings people at odds with one another.

4-star DB has Tide in top group following visit (BOL-VIP)

4-star S/CB Jarrian Jones 6-1/185 (MS) hudl

Jones' weekend Bama visit was his first since the LSU game. Saban and the staff told him he's a top priority; that they like his aggressive play, feet, ball skills and feel he can play any DB spot. Tyson and Turnage (one of Jones' best friends) are recruiting him hard too. His top 3 are Bama, MSU and Oklahoma, who he OVs next weekend. Jones felt and likes the genuine family vibe at Bama. He plans to visit again soon with his dad.

Um between my family, being in a small town and the question "What church do you go to?" It becomes apparent really quick. While it might be easier, I don't usually lie about who I am so people will leave me alone.

Hell, that wasn't anything near an argument. That was a discussion. Go to the basketball thread, that's a nice example of arguing

California will be a failed state in a few decades at this rate: just a place for rich and poor.

I think housing costs is the main factor folks are fleeing Cali. Nashville gets a lot folks from Cali and Illinois.

John Parker was pretty good and Reamer was pretty good.

JMO but had JPW had Nick as his coach his entire career then he would have been much better.
