Agreed. Although ATL to T-town is 2-2.5 hours on the interstate. I drove it last fall for a game. Not bad at all. We should be poaching at least 1-2 elite ATL metro players a year IMO.
Good points. But still, Bama pulling kids from metro Atlanta is a similar challenge to UGA pulling kids from metro Birmingham. It's very tough if the very close-by top-tier in-state school is making them a top priority. Plus, there's all the other competition I mentioned.
ETA: I'm tickled we've got King Mwikuta. He's a great get out of GA. I think Cheney could turn out to be a steal. He's grown an inch in the last year and may grow a little more. He's pretty quick and athletic and seems to have good intangibles.

I just looked at Cheney one on one during the camp circuit, he isn't quick or athletic. I think we are just in need of d lineman and he has size.

I’ve seen more than one Georgia fan say he’s got short arms. I mean, he’s not as long as Raekwon Davis, but he doesn’t seem to have short arms to me.

Our old friend Demetric Warren CB'd Kevin Harris to Alabama.
Bill Embody (Geaux247) CB'd Christian Harris to Bama an hour ago.

We absolutely cannot be picky and slow-play DL recruits this cycle, and our staff is well aware of that. If a quality recruit wants to come aboard, they pretty much have to give him the green light to commit. Our staff not only sees lack of depth, but they don't want what happened last year to repeat itself where Dunbar essentially cost us Coynis Miller and Malik Langham with the comments that he made and slow-playing them. But I doubt that the staff would take a commitment from just anyone. Cheney is a quality DL recruit. Is he the best on our board? I highly doubt it, but he's a quality recruit that wanted to commit, so our staff took him. If he were a fringe recruit based on the staff's evaluations I doubt that they would've taken him.

Our new DL coach is also a better recruiter than Dunbar and many people believe that he's the best DL coach in the country. If he likes a prospect then I'm all for it.

I guess I'll change not being athletic to not being explosive if you get my drift. He moves well for his size.

Know what's crazy tho. Cheney is rated close to where Coynis was when we first got on him and when he went somewhere else it was the end of the world but nobody was really excited about Cheney. I think he fits what we want perfectly. I like the way he sheds blockers on film.

If Saban and crew - including coach kool - accept d his commitment then we all should be excited.
Too many amateur scouts and star gazers basing opinion off a few minutes of highlight tape. Bradley Chubb wasn’t very highly recruited. He’s about to be a top 10 pick.

Speaking of prospects from the state of Georgia and Auburn University, the boogs have picked up 3 CBs for 5-star linebacker Owen Pappoe in the last 24 hours.

Exactly the point I was trying to make lol. It was the end of the world when Brown went somewhere else lol.
