LINK ]Top 10 uncommitted prospects after the Early Signing Period (Rivals)
quote:

LINK ]Darnell Wright, 5-star, #6 player, #1 OT

Wright has never been in a rush to get this recruiting process over, even though his eventual pick seems obvious at this stage. Wright took no official visits during the season, and canceled what was supposed to be his first official visit of the process Dec. 14 to Georgia. Tennessee, North Carolina, Penn State and West Virginia are all potential January official visit destinations, but none have been scheduled yet.

Adam Friedman’s pick: Tennessee

“The sheer number of times he's been to Knoxville and the fact that he canceled his official visit to Georgia last weekend to take yet another unofficial visit to Tennessee is a clear sign of his intentions.”

LINK ]Ishmael Sopsher, 5-star, #18, #1 DT

This recruitment looks to be coming down to Alabama and LSU. Sopsher is a Louisiana native and extremely close with Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron, but the chatter has been more about the Crimson Tide the last six or so weeks. Sopsher is expected to take official visits to both schools, along with Ole Miss in January, and those visits will be key for each. Previous official visits were taken to Texas A&M and Oregon in the last month.

Simmons’ pick: Alabama

“Right now, Alabama appears to have the edge on LSU, but this will go down to the wire.”

LINK ]Khris Bogle, 4-star, #50 player, #3 WDE

Miami brought Bogle in for an official visit the weekend of Dec. 14, hoping to encourage the four-star defensive end to sign the following Wednesday. The Canes were unsuccessful in that effort, and Bogle will take this recruitment into the New Year. Alabama, Florida and Tennessee are the other primary contenders here, and he has already visited each of his top schools.

Cassidy’s pick: Miami

“He's a must-get for Miami, and he's been a UM lean for so long it's hard for me to imagine him getting away.”

Edit: A top insider said, "Staff definitely wants to add another pass rusher to this class." I assume he means an edge rusher like Bogle.

A&M is going to be a major problem in a year or two. Damn, the West just gets tougher and tougher while the East continues to shite all over themselves. Next year:

Tier 1- Bama, UGA- playoff players

Tier 2- TAMU, LSU, Auburn, Florida- NYD bowl contestants

Tier 3- Miss State, South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee- bowl fillers, winning seasons

Bottom feeders: Arkansas, Vandy, Ole Miss- reaching for .500

Alabama 2020 QB commit, Carson Beck, has won Florida's Mr. Football

quote:

After Mandarin’s transformation from a 2-8 season in 2017 to a stunning state title in 2018, Mustangs quarterback Carson Beck was selected Saturday as Florida’s Mr. Football and Bobby Ramsay was named the state’s top coach.

First a state champ. Now, Mr. Football.

Not a bad junior season for Mandarin quarterback Carson Beck.

quote:

He authored the most memorable game of the state championship week in Orlando, passing for five touchdowns and 329 yards in the finale, a 37-35 win over previously unbeaten Columbus that went down to the final minute. That cemented Mandarin’s unbelievable turnaround, from 2-8 in 2017 to king of the mountain in Florida’s largest classification.

quote:

Area players have won the award in even-numbered years ever since iconic Yulee running back Derrick Henry claimed the honor in 2012. De’Andre Johnson of First Coast won in 2014 and Ponte Vedra quarterback Nick Tronti took the award in 2016. But among area Mr. Football winners, only Beck and Nease product Tim Tebow (2005) captured the award after winning state championships.

quote:

Beck, who transferred from Providence before his junior season after a solid baseball and football tenure with the Stallions, still isn’t done in high school. The Alabama commit still has a season to go, although it will be difficult to top 2018.

Beck passed for 3,546 yards and 39 touchdowns in 14 games to help give Mandarin just the fourth Florida High School Athletic Association state championship by a Duval County public school. Raines, which won back-to-back titles in 2017-18, has the other three.

LINK ]Sting Factor: The 10 biggest stings of the Early Signing Period (Rivals)
quote:

During the year we here at Rivals.com do a feature called “Sting Factor” whenever an important prospect backs off his commitment from a school. We take reaction from the local, regional and national level to measure just how much of an impact losing a commit can have on a school’s class. Now that the Early Signing Period is almost over, we take a look at 10 prospects whose signing stung for particular opposing programs who missed out on landing prime targets.

Nakobe Dean, 5-star, #1 ILB -- Georgia

Who it stings: Ole Miss, Alabama

Why: It’s an old recruiting adage that it’s hard to pull elite recruits out of the state of Mississippi, with Alabama being one of the few programs to have success in recent years. Now Georgia can add its name to the list, after the Bulldogs went into the state and pulled Dean away from the Rebels and the Tide.

Dean would have likely stepped right into the lineup for Rebels and the fact that Ole Miss fans have to watch him play in conference for years to come is going to continue to sting. Alabama also put a lot of effort into recruiting Dean, and will likely be seeing him for years to come as well.

Shane Lee, Christian Harris, Henry To'oto'o.

quote:

Trey Sanders, 5-star, #1 RB -- Alabama

Who it stings: Georgia, Florida, Texas

Why: While Alabama was long viewed as the favorite to land Sanders for most of his recruitment, Georgia had a ton of buzz heading into the final week and seemed poised to land him until the tide turned Wednesday morning. In the end, Sanders landed with Alabama, and after some slight drama over his letter-of-intent arriving in Tuscaloosa, he’s poised to be the next highly-ranked back in Alabama’s stable.

Georgia will move on and still has two five-star running backs on the roster, so even though Sanders slipped away, it doesn’t sting as much as some others on this list. Sanders would have been a plug and play option in either Gainesville or Austin, but the sting was eased by the fact that neither school went into the day confident of its chances to land Sanders.

quote:

Evan Neal, 5-star, #2 OT -- Alabama

Who it stings: Miami, Georgia

Why: Things aren’t exactly going well for Miami on the recruiting trail lately and the loss of Neal on Wednesday was just another blow. The South Florida native was always high on the Canes, but with the way the season closed and the longtime overtures from Alabama were too much for the hulking offensive lineman to pass up.

Hurricanes coaches and fans always preach about locking up the “State of the U” in Florida and five-star offensive linemen like Neal aren’t easy to find in that area. The fact that he got away and is yet another elite South Florida prospect to land in Tuscaloosa stings quite a bit.

Georgia was also a player for Neal, but just like with Sanders, the Dawgs are loaded with elite offensive linemen and can withstand his loss.

And he is stilll rated a 3-star? That's hard to believe but I am sure he'll shoot up next year. Mr Football in Florida is not a joke and he played in their highest classification.Great evaluation by Enos,I think.
