Guess people’s sarcasm meter is off today.

My sarcasm meter didn't detect any either.
Maybe it needs to be updated or replaced.

Everyone who comes to Bama better like working hard -- to become the best they can be on and off the field. That's a key message Coach Saban and his staff stress to recruits. They probably lose a few recruiting battles because of it. But that's actually a good thing.

Any time a white kid commits we always make jokes about him being a hard worker and a lunch pail kid. All the cliché shite you hear when the announcers talk about them

Yea, it usually last for a page or 2. There just hasn't been very much activity around here We try to hit all of the clichés.

My brother is a coach for the kid at Muscle Shoals. Says he’s the real deal. Gotta go check some of his games out this season! RTR

Alabama storylines at The Opening Regional in Atlanta (BamaOnLine-VIP)

A lot of Bama targets are at today's event, which conflicted with visiting Bama this weekend, but there could be some fresh reporting coming out of it on some of them in the next few days.

Bratton is very good. I've been hearing about him here in North Alabama for a while now.

Top100 ATH 'loves environment' at Alabama (BamaOnLine-VIP)

4* Ath DeMarcco Hellams 6-2/215 (MD) hudl

Hellams, who plays WR and DB, visited T-town this weekend. He loved Bama's intense, fast-paced, no-time-wasted practice and culture of high standards and accountability. Hellams is narrowing his list down and now sees Bama being in his top five for one of his official visits.

Nakobe Dean is a must get. UGA is probably going to land Owen pappoe and who knows what Mack may do after next season.

Bama (NFL-LBU) will be very thin at ILB after this season. Dean is a perfect fit and would have a great opportunity for early playing time -- a la Dylan Moses. He's a top priority and Bama is close to his home. There's really no legit reason for him to not choose Bama.

IF you play ILB, you should be trying to break down the door to play at Bama.

Yes and UGA is setting the bar in recruiting but we are right there with them. If they get a monster, we need a monster.

The advantage Alabama has over every school when it comes to state’s top prospect

Clay Webb is ranked as the nation's No. 1 center.

Alabama remains in good shape with Clay Webb

BUFORD, Ga. — Clay Webb doesn’t say much about his recruitment, but what he said on Sunday at the Nike Atlanta Opening regional camp was quite revealing.

Webb, a 5-star center from Oxford (Ala.) High School, told SEC Country that the closest relationship in his recruitment is with Alabama offensive line coach Brent Key. But it’s the wording he used to describe his relationship with Key that really shows how tight the pair are.

“He’s kinda like a really, really, really close uncle,” Webb said. “I know that sounds kinda weird. I talk to him a lot. We know a lot about each other. It’s always fun to talk to him when we go down there.”

Webb said he talks to Key about once a week — which isn’t a ton for a recruit of his caliber — but he said he talks to the Tide assistant more than any other coach in the country. So, why is one of the top 15 players in the country only talking to one of his top schools just once per week? Well, Webb is just different. He has been focused on wrestling for Oxford, where he won a state championship earlier this year.

He hasn’t taken any visits this spring and isn’t sure when he is going to check out schools. He also doesn’t think that he’s going to end up taking all five of his official visits because he said that the trips will interfere with his workouts. Yeah, you could say that he’s not interested in the recruiting process.

The nation’s No. 11 overall prospect said he’s not sure if Alabama or Auburn will receive official visits just yet. He expressed interest in wanting to check out Michigan, Ohio State and Texas A&M. Webb also is interested in Florida, Georgia and Texas A&M.

But his decision still seems likely that it will be an Iron Bowl battle. “Oh yes sir,” Webb said when asked if both schools have a huge edge over the other competitors. “Just because of their radius and distance to me.”

The one advantage that Alabama has over Auburn is his relationship with 5-star tackle commit Pierce Quick. The pair has expressed a desire of wanting to play for the same college. Quick recently shut down his recruitment and is locked in with the Tide.

Ask Quick who his top target is for the 2019 class and he normally always names Webb first.

“He wants me to go there and play with him,” Webb said of Quick. “He wants me to be his little buddy and stay with him there the entire time. I’ll already have an upper edge on knowing somebody there and get straight to the program with someone I know.”

The 6-foot-3, 297-pound prospect said one school could gain an edge over others in his recruitment by showing him how he fits into the program and having a good relationship with the players and the coaches.

Is there any school out there that has an edge in Webb’s recruitment? “To be honest, I feel like the closest I’ve been with a team right now is Alabama,” he said. Alabama seems like the team to beat right now for Webb.
