It was no surprise that Clay Webb was once again dominant in this setting. It seems like a broken record with him. Every event in which he competes, he shines. Webb is in great shape, he is naturally strong and he is tough to move. He worked at center and as expected, the five-star impressed. He currently favors Alabama, Auburn, Clemson and Georgia.

LSU RB commit Tyrion Davis being chased by many others
quote:
SAN ANTONIO - Tyrion Davis remains committed to LSU but the 2019 four-star running back was honest about other programs trying to poach him.
It’s going to be a battle for the Tigers to keep the Baton Rouge (La.) Southern Lab standout.
“I’m pretty firm with it right now but there are a lot of schools that are trying to flip me,” Davis said at the Army National Combine registration day.
Alabama and Arizona State seem to be the biggest competition for Davis, who has a great relationship with LSU coach Ed Orgeron. That could be a major consideration as things move forward. Michigan, Florida and USC among others are pursuing as well.
“I talk to coach O almost every day,” Davis said. “My mom loves him. He texts her every morning. Literally, every morning. That plays a big role.”
Arizona State is a surprise contender for the four-star running back and much of his interest in the Sun Devils stems from running backs coach John Simon and his Southern Lab connections.
“I have a really great relationship with coach John Simon,” Davis said. “He went to Southern Lab. He’s the running backs coach up there and he played at Southern Lab so I know I’d be taken care of up there. They have two pretty good backs. I like his coaching style.”
And then there is the elephant in the room - Alabama.
“They’re doing a really good job,” Davis said. “A lot of the players up there are recruiting me, too, encouraging me to go up there, spending time with me, always texting me. That’s pretty good.”
LSU definitely has his attention, though. The four-star back has not only watched the program closely but grew up with a lot of players that went down the road to play for the Tigers including former five-star RB Derrius Guice.
Following in Guice’s footsteps could be a massive consideration in Davis’ thinking.
“That was the goal,” Davis said.
“In my freshman year or my eighth grade year, he committed to LSU and that made me want to go to LSU. I’ve been looking up to him all my life. We played on the Little League team together and youth league. He was always the best and I just always wanted to be like him.”

Army Bowl: Taylor-Stuart leaning SEC for Signing Day announcement
quote:
SAN ANTONIO - Five-star Isaac Taylor-Stuart is planning a National Signing Day decision, but a busy few weeks are in store.
The San Diego (Calif.) Helix cornerback is planning to visit USC the weekend of Jan. 12, Georgia two weeks later and then Tennessee the weekend before Signing Day. A trip back to Alabama is being worked on as well.
There seems to be an SEC bias in Taylor-Stuart’s recruitment, with the Bulldogs possibly leading the way.
“I personally like Georgia, Alabama and Texas A&M,” Taylor-Stuart said.
“I’ve been having a great connection with the (Georgia) coaches and I’ve been talking to them since the beginning of the summer. We’ve kept building and building and building. Most people don’t know about that. Also, they have a great recruiting class coming in. The coaches are great. I want to go out there and see it with my own eyes and see what’s happening.”
The five-star cornerback has been talking with Georgia signees QB Justin Fields and TE Luke Ford, so that could be big in getting him to Athens.
The SEC schools probably lead, but USC cannot be counted out. His visit in the coming days will be crucial.
“Pretty much, the SEC is more likeable,” Taylor-Stuart said. “I grew up a little more and became more mature and I saw what’s best out there. USC is still in it. I have to see what they have to offer and compare it to all the other schools.”
As for Alabama, the Crimson Tide could be the right fit especially if he visits again. Assistant coach Tosh Lupoi is working the five-star cornerback hard.
“We talk almost every day,” Taylor-Stuart said. “We’ve been talking and talking and he said he needs to get me out there. I’m just trying to work on that.
“Basically, his overall message is, ‘Isaac, we need you. We have too many DBs going into the draft so we need you to come out here and be an impact player.’”
Texas A&M also remains a contender, although a return trip in the coming weeks is not expected. He has become a close friend of former A&M commit Leon O’Neal, who could re-commit to the Aggies. If that happens, it could help get Taylor-Stuart to College Station.

Rivals100 LB J.J. Peterson previews Army Game decision
quote:
SAN ANTONIO -- It's long been assumed that Rivals100 Moultrie (Ga.) Colquitt County linebacker J.J. Peterson would end up playing his college football in Tuscaloosa. The elite prospect has been leaning towards the Tide for the better part of his recruitment, with soon to be ex-defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt playing a major part in his recruitment.
But now with Pruitt taking over as the head coach at Tennessee, the Volunteers have suddenly surged in Peterson's recruitment and now he's set to announce his college decision during Saturday's Army All-American game.
"I decided to go ahead and announce during the game," Peterson said. "I want to make my decision now so I’m not wasting people’s time and holding spots at schools that could go to other players.”
Peterson said his phone has been constantly buzzing with schools trying to get in touch with him to set up visits after the dead period, but as of now he only has one trip set, a Jan. 12 visit to Knoxville.
"I’m taking my official to Tennessee Jan. 12 and that’s the only visit I have scheduled,” Peterson said. “[After that] I might just shut it down and keep working and just stay low and work on school.”
The Vols coaching staff, led by Pruitt, is a major reason why he is likely to commit to Tennessee despite never having set foot on campus.
"That’s my guy. Him and his staff, those are all guys that have been recruiting me so they’re all my guys," Peterson said. " The other people that are trying to talk to me now, they’re just stepping in so no matter if you do say 'l love you, you good bro, how about that,' you just started. I haven't been with you since my 11th grade year. I haven't been with you. It’s hard to build a relationship with someone you’re just now seeing and you’re about to go to college."
One of the coaches working to continue to build a relationship with Peterson is Alabama head coach Nick Saban, who is set to visit Peterson following the conclusion of the dead period.
"Coach Saban calls every once in a while but he wants to come see but I might just tell him to not waste his time," Peterson said. "He’s a business man. I respect him for being a great coach. It’s not that I don’t want to play for him it’s just I might have other opportunities elsewhere."
The chance to play and contribute early in his career is clearly weighing on Peterson's mind and both schools are pitching that possibility. The question in his mind is, which school actually has the easier path to the field?
"At Tennessee they’re saying I have a chance to come in and play and that’s what they’re saying at Alabama [too]," Peterson said. "But you’re Alabama, I know I can’t come in and play right away. My homeboy is there, Xavier McKinney, he’s one of the best players I’ve gone against. He’s a great player and he didn’t even play, so I’m like, if he didn’t even play when they were up, so there’s something wrong. I don’t want to get up there and just not get a chance. I don’t care about playing but I just want a chance and if you get a chance I’ll make something happen and if not I won’t do it."

2019 5-star RB Quavaris Crouch on Alabama:

quote:
Alabama
“They fit my style of running — downhill, punishing people over time. Big back that just pounds the defense. I like that about them. I just like effort. Them losing against Auburn then coming back and playing Clemson, just tough people. I just like playing for people like that. There are certain types of players, and people might not know it, but Alabama’s got different players I feel like. They take it very serious. They’re playing for each other. They’re not playing for themselves. That’s why I feel like they’re so good. I like Alabama a lot.”

That's an interesting read. Sounds like Pruitt negative recruiting Bama hard, no?

I don't think so. At least not directly from Pruitt.
I assume all of this shite is coming from that fricking morally corrupt Rush Probst. He is taking the TE job over there and wants Peterson to come with him.

Depends on how you define negative recruiting. I mean, Pruitt is the DC at Alabama until Monday night. So he knows the depth chart, what's coming back (it is a lot), and whether he would actually contribute early.

quote:this kid might be too dumb to want. What is he talking about? McKinney has played in 12 games as a freshman and would of probably be in contention for a starting spot next year at safety or nickel. Who does this retard think McKinney was going to pass on the depth chart? Ronnie Harrison? What he’s really saying is he doesn’t think he’s good enough to compete against Dylan Moses (he’s probably right) and our other young lbs
Xavier McKinney, he’s one of the best players I’ve gone against. He’s a great player and he didn’t even play, so I’m like, if he didn’t even play when they were up, so there’s something wrong. I don’t want to get up there and just not get a chance.

This makes sense as well. Hadn't seen any confirmation, but definitely seems like a lot of smoke around Probst to UT. What a flaming dumpster fire that place has the potential to become if shite goes wrong early...

"negative" all depends on the program... like for us, prior to the season, obviously it was:
"Kirby only went 8-5 and has no experience as a HC... program moving backwards... not going to have a chance to do anything meaningful... etc.."
For Bama, clearly those aren't options, so you have to find ways to point to guys that a kid can relate to and talk about how they were drowned on the depth chart...
It's all spin, but that's not a terrible track to take... even if it's not entirely accurate, it's not the simplest task in the world to go see exactly how many snaps every kid plays... so if they're not getting their names called, could see how you can try to sell it.
As TS mentioned, could be Probst, rather than Pruitt specifically. But I agree with you on Pruitt's knowledge of the depth chart and being able to sell playing time at UT and specifically that it wouldn't exist in all likelihood at Bama.

I am pretty sure Auburn hands out printed Alabama depth charts to prospects. That's negative recruiting.

4-star WR Justin Watkins eliminates Alabama from consideration
quote:
Highly-regarded wide receiver Justin Watkins is no longer considering Alabama after having the Crimson Tide in his final two.
Watkins, who initially was planning to commit during the Under Armour All-America Game, headed into this week trying to choose between Alabama and LSU. Now, he's eliminated the Tide in favor of Dan Mullen's Florida Gators.
"Right now it's changed for me since I didn't commit to Alabama," Watkins said about his recruitment. "Right now I'm looking at Florida and LSU. I'm taking a visit to Florida sometime in January."
Watkins is ranked the nation's No. 21 receiver and No. 103 overall prospect according to 247Composite. The Clermont, FL native caught 18 passes for 552 yards, seven touchdowns and also rushed for over 600 in his past high school season with East Ridge.
Another offensive prospect considering attending Alabama is Tampa, FL native Nicholas Petit-Frere, who played offensive tackle in the Under Armour All-America Game. The 6-foot-5, 260-pound offensive lineman is considering the Tide, Auburn, Notre Dame, Florida and Michigan but doesn't have a definitive timetable on a decision yet.
"I haven't made a decision yet in terms of recruiting," Petit-Frere said. "I still have some things I have to focus on. I missed a week of school work that I have to catch up on, so I need to focus on that."

Nation’s top 2019 recruit makes bold prediction for National Championship Game

quote:
ORLANDO, Fla. — Five-star defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux — the nation’s top-ranked recruit for the 2019 class — doesn’t hesitate at all when asked which team will win the national title game.
“Alabama,” the 6-foot-5, 235-pound junior says, confidently.
OK. That’s fair. Alabama is the slight favorite (-3.5) over Georgia. But what Thibodeaux says next will surely raise some eyebrows.
“They’re going to win by maybe two touchdowns,” Thibodeaux said. “It’s Bama, you know? It’s intimidation, and it’s pure just, I don’t know, dog.”
While Alabama fans will surely be jumping at that news — “Nation’s top recruit says Crimson Tide will DESTROY Georgia” — it should be known that both teams in the national championship are in good position in Thibodeaux’s recruitment. He said he’s hoping to visit both schools this spring. Alabama, according to Thibodeaux, is more of a sure-thing for a visit. He said he’ll visit Georgia and Clemson if he has the time.
Georgia, however, has yet to offer, surprisingly.
“I haven’t talked to them,” Thibodeaux said. “But they’re a great school. Keeping my options open.”
Thibodeaux hopes to make a commitment before his senior season begins and will sign in the early signing period in December.

4-star DB Kelvin Joseph reveals timeline for commitment
quote:
SAN ANTONIO, Texas — Kelvin Joseph had flirted with the idea of committing at the end of the week during the nationally televised U.S. Army All-American Game.
After toying with that possibility, the 4-star Baton Rouge defensive back has opted to wait until National Signing Day on Feb. 7 to reveal his college decision. LSU, Alabama, Auburn and Florida State remain the finalists for the 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety, with visits to all three SEC West schools scheduled in the next few weeks.
“I’m just going to wait until signing day,” Joseph told SEC Country on Thursday during Army Game practice in San Antonio, Texas.
“I’m just going to wait to see how everything goes with all of the coaching switches and all that.”
On Wednesday evening, LSU retained defensive coordinator Dave Aranda with a four-year, $10 million contract extension.
Joseph visits LSU on Jan. 20, Alabama on Jan. 27 and Auburn on Feb. 2. He officially visited Florida State back in October.
