Really? (On the OL talent). Because I'm in a discussion group with a couple guys that talk to coaches at UA, AU, and a couple other programs around the South. The unanimous thing mentioned about AU is how poor they've recruited on the OL in the last few classes. They consider Ashley last year one of the most overrated OL prospects that they've seen in years, and genuinely don't think they're in good shape at all on the OL in the next couple years. I'm not even saying this to be confrontational. These guys don't sugarcoat pro-Bama (if anything, they tend to give Bama's rivals more credit than they do Bama, for some odd reason) or anti-anybody else just for the sake of doing it, either.

The big question marks will be OL & S. Might be better talent on OL next season but it's young & unproven. We are gonna be leaning on freshman at S. Not too worried about RB seeing as that is the only position of consistency under Malzahn & our front 7 will be strong again. But ya next year is not shaping up to be a championship season with all that has to be replaced and our schedule. Open year against Washington in Atlanta too. Gus better figure out how to win away from Jordan Hare fast or AU probably ends up 8-4

Barn loses 6 off their 2 deep chart on OL according to ourlads.com. 3 will be RS Jrs and a Soph in Ashley. Add that with losing their top 2 RBs, maybe the WR Ryan Davis, possibly QB Stidham (rumor is he is contemplating the jump, then add their losses on defense. 5 on defense are definitely leaving and possibly 3 more that could leave. $49 million for 7 years and 4 losses a year!!!

Anyone else think Pierschbacher should play center next year so we can have Leatherwood Wills Jonah and 1 of cotton/Womack Starting?

If Ekiyor (6'2" 322) is as good as advertised, Ross stays at LG.

I mean. They'll be good at some positions. I'm not trying to tear them down here. But it's the opinion of both myself and of others that are WAYYYYYYYY more plugged in than me that they've not done a very good job with OL evaluating or development. The Prince Tega kid has upside, even though he struggled this season. But, from everything I've heard, this could be a problem area for them going forward. We'll see who is correct in a couple years.

Jonah Williams is expected to move to Center this Spring.

I can see this getting Leatherwood and/or Wills on the field. Could possibly move Wommack in to RG should Cotton slip up.

Maybe the better wording is "better upside" than this previous group. Prince Tega Wanogho was absolutely terrible early in the year but did much better later in the season when Darius James struggled. Honestly fact that James was our starting tackle past 2 years points to AU's poor OL recruiting. He was really a guard we forced outside. Wanogho has all the raw talent in the world but is still learning the position. Being an AU fan & optimist I think he will be ready for next year but there's a chance he's not
As for Ashley we will see. If you think he's overrated then ya it looks bleaker. I don't think he was a 5* but I do think he was a top 100 player in last year's class. My fear is he will be a dominant run blocker but struggle in pass pro. With Nick Marshall it didn't matter that Greg Robinson & Shon Coleman were inconsistent pass blockers because we rarely had straight drop backs & Marshall was elusive enough to escape. That's not the case with Stidham so it's a concern for sure.
Both Mike Horton & Marquel Harrell played a ton of snaps this year and were good. AU has done a good job of developing guard talent. Not worried about them. Center is a big concern tho. Might have to rely on a redshirt freshman
I personally think the upside of Ashley, Wanogho & Brahms is higher than Golson, James & Dunn. The question will be are they ready for next season. That I don't know and we will have to see. But I think the potential of that group is higher than this past one. I do agree we did not do a great job recruiting OL under JB Grimes. Hand brought in a good class last year & I think will close strong this one. No doubt next year's OL group is the biggest question mark & far from a sure thing but I personally like that group's potential

One of the issues I had with Pruitt is he might be a great recruiter but he built the relationship with players that wanted to play for him not the college. The reason when he left for FSU, D Walker followed him.
Peterson is also now scheduled to visit UT next weekend per UT boards.

“I’m going to Tennessee and it’s not because of (new head coach Jeremy) Pruitt, (Kevin) Sherrer or the coach who’s coming from Florida State (Charles Kelly),” Peterson said. “I’ve got two players (from Colquitt) who are there in (redshirt freshman defensive lineman) Ja’Quain Blakely and (freshman defensive back) Shawn Shamburger. Those are two people I can start something with and every time I play with them, I have a good time.”

Not sure why he is announcing it except to give UT publicity but already telling people he is going there.

Lets just hold to Walker even though UT fans believe they are getting him as well.

That's a little hard to believe that Pruitt and Sherrer being there don't have anything to do with him choosing UT. Alabama led for his services from the word go. As soon as Pruitt was being rumored for other jobs, he started looking elsewhere. Why wasn't he looking at UT when Butch was still the head coach?

Georgia, Florida, and Auburn think they're getting him too.

Him trying to save face here I think. But look this kid was never sold on UA it appears and I have no issue where he ends up. UT I would rather see him at then UGA or another program that will be contending with us for championships. UT even with adding Pruitt and this kid are still 5 or 6 years from competing for anything.

BTW UT sites reporting Propst was in Knoxville today meeting with the UT staff.

Peterson has indicated several times that his very close relationship with Pruitt is somewhat like a father figure relationship and is THE reason he flipped to being a heavy lean to UT. It's kind of silly for him to say otherwise now.
