I can tell you the guys who have played DE this year:
Bosa
Cooper
Young
Hubbard
Lewis
Holmes
The last 2 are seniors and gone and Hubbard likely is
OSU plays a smaller DT at the 3tech usually and a bigger guy at the 1. Dremont Jones is the starting 3 (and may leave) and hill/Sprinkle are gone.
So OSU is losing at least 4 of those guys and maybe 6

Payne is a 2nd or 3rd rounder and will likely jump to the NFL. DT are usually not 1st rounders unless they are dominant. See Reed and Robinson a few years ago.

JJ27, if you are out there I need your comparison numbers between Slade and Christian McCaffrey again.
I need to go put a member of your fan base in his place. Again.

SEC Country says don’t expect James Foster, Brenton Cox, IT Stuart in our class.

Isaac Taylor-Stuart quote:
quote:
Aside from what he’s already seen on his first trip to the Capstone, the opportunity for early playing time is a significant selling point.
“That’s a big one for me,” Taylor-Stuart said. “I want to try and get on the field as soon as possible and hopefully be able to start. I just want to have a fair chance to compete for a starting job. I feel like Bama is a place (that will give me that).”

Reed and Robinson slipped because they were athletically limited and it was a loaded draft class at their position. Don't really see that being an issue for Payne; he has top level athleticism even if it hasn't always translated to pass rush productivity to this point.

He went a little more in depth than that.

Foster doesn't have a committable offer and won't if Emory Jones flips. He thinks Jones will.
Brenton Cox is going to Georgia.
He thinks it will be hard for ITS to visit due to not taking his OV this weekend, but he also says ITS could reschedule for the weekend before NSD. He is just hedging his bets.

Recruiting question of the day: What’s the scoop on late-emerging options for Alabama?
quote:
What's the scoop on emerging options for the Tide (James Foster, Brendon Cox, Isaac Taylor-Stuart)?
There are always a few recruits each cycle who see their names gain traction with Alabama in the final few months and weeks leading up to signing day. This year is no different.
James Foster, a 4-star quarterback from Sidney Lanier High School (Montgomery, Ala.), grew up wanting to play for Alabama. He received a verbal offer from the Tide in March. It wasn’t a committable offer, and he still doesn’t have one. Emory Jones, a 4-star quarterback committed to Ohio State, remains Alabama’s top quarterback target. If Jones decides to stick with the Buckeyes, it’s very likely Alabama turns its attention toward Foster, the former Missouri commit.
The Tide have been recruiting Foster heavily these past few weeks with offensive coordinator Brian Daboll and defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley making stops to see him and his family, but this is Alabama doing its due diligence here.
Brenton Cox, a 5-star defensive end from Stockbridge (Ga.) High School, long has been a target for Alabama. It wasn’t until recently though that Alabama looked like a possible landing spot for him. Cox de-committed from Ohio State earlier this month, and the Tide and Georgia became the top contenders. Cox took an unofficial visit to Georgia last weekend and is going to take an official visit to Athens this weekend. That doesn’t bode well for the Tide’s chances with him. Cox is expected to make his decision on Dec. 20, which is the first day of the early signing period.
Nick Saban and outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi are visiting Stockbridge on Thursday, so Alabama likely will have an idea of where it stands with Cox following this trip.
Isaac Taylor-Stuart, a 5-star cornerback from Helix High School (San Diego), was expected to take an official visit to Alabama this weekend, but he will no longer make the trip because his team has a game on Friday. He told SEC Country on Thursday that he’s going to reschedule, but it’s going to be difficult for him to make the visit.
He has an official visit set to Southern California for the weekend of Jan. 12. He’ll then play in the Polynesian Bowl the weekend of Jan. 20, and he’ll finish up with an official visit to Georgia the following weekend. He has taken an official visit to Texas A&M. If he follows through with his USC and UGA visits, that would leave him two visits to use.
He can take one visit the weekend after the Georgia trip, which would be beneficial for the Tide because it would be the final weekend before the original signing day.
As of now, I don’t expect any of these players to end up in Alabama’s class.

Stars are lining up for Cox to Georgia , but really like IT Stuart in our class with Jobe! Hope this happens , then we need to finish up with Friday, Anoma, and if Barmore qualifies! I hate the picture of Saban and Tosh with juco tight end , probably means they still want him . We need that spot for others.
