The fans get so emotional about the QB situation. But we need to figure out what we're going to do on offense. Either we need to go all-in with a Spread system, change some blocking schemes, coaches and go with Jalen. Or make a QB change with our current "system" (whatever it is). Whatever the case, Hurts may or may not could be a really good QB in a Spread system like the Barn runs, but he's not a really good QB if we're going to try and drop back and throw the ball around. We are PITIFUL in the passing game right now. Unless it's a quick designed pass to a back out of the backfield, it's always the same thing. Drop back, his #1 option is covered up, so he takes off running and either throws it away (30% of the time), scrambles (which he's really good at, but can't do it all in that department... maybe 50% of the time), or takes a sack (10% of the time). That leaves about 10 percent for completed passes.
We are PITIFUL in the passing game. With elite talent all over the field at RB and WR.
SOMETHING needs to change, for sure. It's literally the same thing against any good defense (not even great defense) we go up against. Put a top 30-40 defense or so out there, and we struggle.

Jalen Hurts is not good enough of a QB to will a team to a national championship if the defense isn't all world. It's that simple. Hurts is the worst QB Saban has had since Marcus Randall was his QB at LSU.

Hurts is on par with JPW.
I wish we would call this dual threat experiment a failure and go back to the pro style who can run a little. Not the running back who can pass a little

Yes. That entire game was Hurts fault.
You want to ignore everyone else and just blame one person. It starts with Saban, Daboll and our DC.
For me the QB competition is open. However stop with the one person is to blame thing. Literally every person screwed up.
It starts with leadership.... our scared leaders.

All I’m saying is we have competence at that one position we win the game.
Daboll is terrible and we need to fire him stat. He can take Key with him.

We just got 4 CBs for Jacob Copeland if that makes anyone feel better.

Can he play quarterback or coach offensive line?
Kidding.... sort of...

No we have a plethora of WRs. We need DBs, DL, and an OC that will let Damien run the dang ball more than 8-10 times a game.

I want a new offensive coordinator for Christmas.

It won't matter if our OL continue to be soft as Charmin.

Yeah, make the position volatile. That will surely make things better.
We did this to ourselves when we fired the perfect guy for the position; Lane Kiffin

Sticking with the status quo and hoping Hurts magically gets it together against top 10 teams seems to be working well for us.

What about Dan Enos from Arky?

Copeland decommitted from UF

So I don’t keep up with recruiting a lot. Is our 2018 class really that bad (currently ranked #34 by Rivals)? If so, what’s the issue? Don’t have open spots? Saban lost his touch? What’s going on?

Smaller class followed by recruiters who recruit about as well as they coached against Auburn.

I wish he was still around, but he was leaving after last season anyway.

Now I didn't say that.I like Hurts personally. Think he's a good leader, a great young guy, and awesome running QB. But he just doesn't have good field vision. He struggles BADLY with it. We either need to go full Spread, with simple routes and easy reads and keep Hurts as our QB, or make some kind of switch. He simply isn't a good QB for the kind of offense we try to run. You can point to our stats and say we're a top 20 offense all you want. We don't play a good schedule this year (not our fault... bad luck with teams being down), and have amazing skill talent. So we out-talent most teams. But when we play a defense with a pulse it's ALWAYS the same thing. At some point, it's not a coincidence or a fluke or a "well, we just had an off game", and begins to be a trend or the norm.
We need to make some kind of change on offense. Yet again.
And no, the best coach in college football history (possibly) isn't above criticism. His offenses rely on being able to use talent and physicality to bully the other teams around. When teams take that away, we're helpless when we have to pass it if they have the talent and a decent offense to match their offense.

Dude we get it. You think Hurts and the OC are the only problems.
Apparently they made Jonah whif on a block, Mack screw up multiple 3rd downs and Rashaan Evans get a moronic penalty to extend a drive.
I want a wide open QB competition which I believe Tua will win, but I ain't gonna no make it seem like Hurts and the OC is why we sucked today.
They were only a part of the problem. Not the entire thing
