Defending 5A champion, Beauregard, visits Sylacauga tonight. They are led by returning 5A Mr. Football La'damian Webb. The kid amassed 3,242 yards 47 TDs at 10.4ypc, accounting for 54 total TDs. He is a Miss State commit. Rated #25 in the state by 247 Sports. This kid was a terror at 5'9" 190lbs!!

Didn't he get hurt last week?

Not too worried about Quick or Webb visiting there. Evidence speaks. Auburn isn't developing linemen for the NFL.

I don't understand, slade is slow because he got caught by a safety with an angle on him after gaining like 30 yards?

Even then, to really get any shot at Webb, they have to separate Webb from Pierce, no way with them visiting together.

Sorry if already posted, but how are ya'll feeling about Seth Williams? I liked him better than Ross before the season, and he's outperformed Ross so far this year.

Seems like Auburn has some momentum with the CB picks on 247. Surely we aren't going to let a kid at Bryant go to Auburn right?

It's a bold analysis I know.

I think if we don't get Justyn Ross their gonna go after 6'5 WR Tommy Bush out of Texas. We're only looking to get 2 more WR's and Waddle would be one of them.

I posted a couple days ago, I almost hope we get Bush instead of the in-state WRs. I think he's going to be a star .

There’s certainly a buzz in Norman as the Sooners are up to No. 2 in the poll and they’ll look to feed off that excitement on the trail this weekend as they host three official visitors for the Tulane game.

Top247 defensive tackle Bobby Brown returns. The Arlington (Texas) Lamar was on campus in July for the ChampUBBQ. Alabama is the heavy 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite but Brown and his family have always been high on Oklahoma and the Sooners will continue their push this weekend. He's one of Calvin Thibodeaux's top targets.

Detroit (Mich.) Cass Tech Top247 cornerback Kalon Gervin has built a close relationship with OU defensive backs coach Kerry Cooks and he and his mom are pumped to get to campus. Virginia Tech is the heavy 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite but I could see Oklahoma becoming the latest program to make a move with Gervin.

I could say the same about To247 linebacker Merlin Robertson. USC is the 247Sports Crystal Ball favorite but I actually think it’s Cal and the Sooners in the best spot coming in to this weekend.

247Sports ranks the current Oklahoma class No. 9 nationally and defensive line commit Jalen Redmond will take his official as well.

BOL is now reporting Pierce will be in Tuscaloosa tomorrow, not Auburn.

It sucks when you are disappointed a kid is visiting your school.

Hank South is at Vernon Jackson's pep rally. It appears he has eliminated TCU, at least according to his hats on the table:

On second look he does have TCU in the poster to the left.

Maybe he pulls out a pet horny toad as a shocker.

247 is going to stream Jackson's announcement through Facebook. I'll try to get the link once they go live.

Maybe the TCU hat is in the bag/under the table?

BOLING, Texas. -- Alabama has added a big piece to its 2018 class in three-star athlete Vernon Jackson.

The Boling (Texas) standout committed to the Crimson Tide on Friday over Texas A&M and TCU.

The Aggies were considered the favorite at one point in Jackson’s recruitment, the Horned Frogs even had his favorite recruiter on staff. However, it was Alabama’s pursuit that won out.

Jackson is recruited by UA running backs coach Burton Burns and defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt.

The Tide began trending for Jackson’s commitment in early June, prior to a multi-day stay in Tuscaloosa in July. In fact, Jackson enjoyed his time so much in Alabama that he extended his trip an extra day.

While the 6-foot-3, 240-pounder plays quarterback for his high school – a position he rushed for more than 2,000 yards and 33 touchdowns last season – it’s linebacker where he projects to at the Capstone. Running back has also been discussed in conversations with Burns.

Jackson is rated the No. 17 athlete and the No. 388 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

The Crystal Ball read 100 percent to Alabama at the time of his commitment.

Jackson is the eleventh member of the Tide’s 2018 class, bumping the group to No. 24 in the 247Sports Team Rankings.
