Asa Martin ran for 200 yards and 4 TDs against 10th ranked Bob Jones in 7A

I can't find the rushing yards for Harold Joiner but he had 4 rushing TDs against Helena. (1,5,10 and 22 yard runs)
Posted on 9/2/17 at 7:47 am to crimsonblazer
Seth Williams had 9 receptions for 233 yards a TD in a 22-19 loss against Minor. I know a lot of you are higher on him than Justyn Ross.
Posted on 9/2/17 at 7:48 am to crimsonblazer
Speaking of Justyn Ross, he had 2 receptions for 62 yards and a TD. And two punt returns for 82 yards in a win over Fairfield.
Posted on 9/2/17 at 7:50 am to crimsonblazer
Jalyn Armour Davis returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown and had 4 receptions for 18 yards.

Here's a list from al.com for how the rest of the state's A-list performed LINK
I'm sure there will be a more detailed list tomorrow. I want to see many yards Joiner piled up.

Slade played likely the best team he will see in the regular season, John Ehret of Nola. He threw for 200+ and 2 TDs. Ran for 100+ and 3 TDs. WM wins 47-32.
He'll be a Top 200 player in the final rankings.

Paul Tyson went 19 of 24 for 285 yards, 4 TDs/and at least 1 int in 65-28 win over Callaway(MS).
He has more touchdowns in two games than incomplete passes.

Bo Nix went 12 of 27 for 149 yards and 33 yards rushing. He had 2 TD passes and a rushing TD in a win against defending 6A champs Ramsay.
That's not very accurate.

From Hank South regarding Vernon Jackson:

quote:
Still no word on whether Vernon Jackson will go through with announcing his commitment today at 1 p.m. CT as expected. He postponed the announcement from last Saturday with Hurricane Harvey about to come ashore. His school has been closed this week, and will be closed next week as well, so I would venture to say it's not going to happen today, but there's been no word from his camp. Jackson has tweeted that he's ok, but his town got a pretty bad chunk of the flooding. Just stay tuned around 1 if he does decide to do it.

A guy on BOL went to Luke Ford's game last night. Here's his take:
quote:
He's more Hale hentges that oj or miller forristtal. Probably had 100-150 yards. Was targeted a lot but never in a position to really run with the ball. Most catch then down. Got a catch ripped by a 5'7" guy but again his qb couldn't really put him in a position to succeed. I think he'd be a good asset to bama. Unfair to judge his local games. We'll see his real skill at the army game.

Paul Tyson threw four touchdown passes, three to Logan Pitts, as Hewitt-Trussville won a track meet over visiting Callaway (Miss.) 65-28.
Tyson, a junior making his first career varsity start in an official game, threw an interception on his first drive, but bounced back and completed 19 of 24 passes for 285 yards.
“Really, just had to get that play behind me,” Tyson said. “You can’t let one play affect the whole game. Next drive, just come out and not think about it.”
Tyson threw touchdown passes of 31, 20 and 11 yards to Pitts and 29 yards to Dazalin Worsham.
“I thought Paul did really well,” Hewitt-Trussville coach Josh Floyd said. “I think he had a big game. He made a lot of big throws. He threw it to the other team once and that was my fault, a terrible play call. He made some throws that were really impressive.”
Antonio Reed had 85 yards rushing and two short touchdown runs. Elliott McElwain rushed for 78 yards and scored on runs of 16 and 13 yards. Cameron Bledsoe added 68 yards and a rushing score.
Myles Mason, a four-star athlete who transferred from Pleasant Grove to Hewitt-Trussville in May, did not play and was in street clothes. He played last week in the Champions Challenge jamboree win over Pell City.
“Just stuff,” said Floyd, who didn't comment more. “We’re hopeful he’s going to be back next week.”
The Huskies, ranked No. 4 in Class 7A, are 1-0. Callaway dropped to 1-2.
Game ball: Credit the Hewitt-Trussville offensive line, anchored by Alabama commit Pierce Quick at right tackle, for protecting Tyson all night and opening up big holes for the offense.
Play of the night: After a wild second quarter where Hewitt-Trussville outscored the Chargers 31-22 and took a 44-28 lead into halftime, Malachi Moore intercepted the second pass of the third quarter. Hewitt-Trussville scored on the drive and shut out Callaway in the second half.
“They’re trying to throw it to their 6-4 receiver (Mississippi State commit Malik Heath), who is a heck of a player but Malachi was all over him and intercepted it and almost took it back for six,” Floyd said.
Just a sophomore, Moore also has some FBS offers.
By the numbers: Heath caught three passes for 85 yards, scoring on touchdowns of seven and 65 yards. … Hewitt-Trussville junior defensive end Tyler Antkowiak had eight tackles and an interception … Callaway’s LaKenith Thompson, a 5-foot-11, 215-pound three-star running back in the class of 2019, had 15 carries for 118 yards.
Coachspeak
“I think we’re fortunate to have some really good backs. It’s by committee. Everybody knows about Elliott McElwain. He’s a big time player. He’s special, but you’ve got Antonio Reed and Cameron Bledsoe who are big-time players and showed it tonight.” - Floyd
“They made some plays. That receiver is the No. 1 player in Mississippi for a reason. He’s tough to handle in a 1-on-1 situation.” - Floyd
They said it
“It’s crazy how we can come out here and develop running backs like this and how easy it is to be a running back in our system.” - Hewitt-Trussville’s McElwain, an Army commit
“That was awesome right there. We were trying to run the clock a little bit, but to get a shutout in the second half with an offense like ours, that’s big-time.” - Quick on the Huskies’ defensive effort in the second half
Next week: Hewitt-Trussville opens Class 7A, Region 4 play on Friday at home against Gadsden City.
Tyson may end up being special

Sam Sanford returned an interception 37 yards for his first career touchdown and defensive lineman Kaleb Gibbs came within two yards of returning another interception for a score as Class 7A, No. 2 Hoover rode its special teams and defense to a 42-7 win over visiting Meridian, (Miss.) Friday night.
The Bucs (1-1) took advantage of outstanding field position all night thanks to kicker Barret Pickering, who kicked every kickoff into the end zone.
Meridian (0-2) never started a possession on better than its own 20, and started five possessions at its own 9, 13, 14, 15 and 16.
Hoover, on the other hand, started possessions at the Meridian 2, 20, 29, 41, 42 and 49.
Larry McCammon led the Bucs on the ground with 91 yards on nine carries, including a 27-yard touchdown run that made it 35-7 on the first possession of the third quarter.
Sanford got the scoring started with his interception return, but the Wildcats answered with their only touchdown of the night as Mosley Rodriquez scored on a 3-yard run with 3:49 left in the first quarter.
The rest of the night, though, belonged to the Bucs, who reeled off 35 unanswered points.
Star of the game: While it would be easy to pick either Sanford or Gibbs, kickers rarely ever get any love. Pickering had plenty of distance, but was a little to the left on a 52-yard field goal attempt. He was perfect on kickoffs, sailing each attempt into the end zone, as Meridian never could escape the shadow of its own goal line.
Play of the Game: Sanford got the Bucs rolling with his 37-yard interception to stake Hoover to a quick 7-0 lead. Gibbs interception return set up Vonte Brackett’s go-ahead score, and the Bucs would never look back.
Key sequence: Even though the game was already pretty much in hand at 28-7, the Wildcats faced a first-and-inches inside the Hoover 1 midway through the third quarter. Four plays later, there was a no gain, a one-yard loss, a one-yard gain and Chase Brown’s interception to stop the possession.
Stat sheet: Both teams struggled offensively in the first half, as Hoover had 118 yards and Meridian recorded 99; … the Bucs turned the ball over four times, including three times in the second half. …Brackett tallied 56 yards on nine carries, including a 2-yard touchdown run. …Quarterback Jalen Parkeradded a 24-yard touchdown run.
By The Numbers: 189, consecutive weeks Hoover has been ranked in the ASWAA Top 10 poll since the final poll of the 1999 season, including 101 weeks at No. 1 and 33 weeks at No. 2. … 9, Hoover’s straight seasons of at least 10 wins, a nine-year record of 118-13. …1998, the last year the Bucs had a losing season at 4-6. …4, the number of Hoover’s out-of-state losses out of seven losses in the last five years. …3, the number of Meridian’s state championships (2008, 1990, 1985). …12, the number of Hoover state championships, including 10 since 2000.
Coachspeak: “It was sloppy and we didn’t play our best. We made some big plays, especially when we needed them. When you don’t play well and you still win 42-7, you can find some places where you need to get better. It was a little sloppy, but you could still see the resiliency in their eyes when you can see what this team wants to accomplish.” -- Hoover coach Josh Niblett
They Said It: “The key was we need to start fast. We didn’t play that well last week and we wanted to come out and put the foot on the pedal. I thought we played fantastic. It was a whole lot better than last week.” -- Brackett
“I was surprised as anyone that I could it. I really thought I had dropped it. I really wanted the touchdown. I didn’t think anybody was going to tackle me. It would have been nice to score my first touchdown and get the first touchdown for a defensive lineman.” – Gibbs
“I was just sitting in the middle of the field and saw the ball coming and went to break it up. All the sudden it ended up in my hands. I just cut down the sidelines and knew I was going to score. Actually, it seemed a lot easier at the end. It was like slow motion. It’s something I’ll never forget.” – Sanford
-- Next week: Hoover will remain at home against Mountain Brook while Meridian will return to its home state to host Noxubee County

West Monroe needed a long drive to toll the victory bell.
Scoring all of its touchdowns on quick strikes and special teams all night, the Rebels churned out their longest possession of the game, taking 3:53 off the clock on an 8-play, 60-yard drive capped by a two-yard gash off tackle from senior quarterback Slade Bolden to give his team a comfortable, 40-32, with 8:12 remaining.
Two possessions later, Bolden carried the ball five straight plays and notched the game's final score, skirting through and rumbling for a 33-yard touchdown on a 4th-and-1, putting the punctuation on the Rebels, 47-32, season-opening win at the new Don Shows Field at Rebel Stadium Friday.
Bolden, the Alabama commit, finished the night with 121 yards on the ground to go along with 232 pass yards and five total touchdowns. The senior connected with senior wide receiver Jairus Henry for a score 1:23 and four plays into the game on a 24-yard touchdown pass. Henry ended his monster night with 219 yards on six catches.
John Ehret answered with a nine-play, 80-yard drive with junior running back Terrell Brown scoring the first of his three rushing touchdowns on the night from seven yards out, cutting into West Monroe's lead, 13-7, with 5:17 left in the first quarter.
West Monroe's next two scoring drives were four plays, ending with an 8-yard touchdown run from Bolden and a one play, a 81-yard pitch-and-catch from Bolden to Henry to extended the team's lead to 33-13 with less than 9:00 remaining in the half.
Special performance from special teams
Special teams showed up huge for West Monroe in the opener. A host of Rebs blocked a Pats punt inside their own 15-yard line and Chandler Conrad fell on the loose ball in the end zone for West Monroe's second score.
After a John Ehret touchdown, Max Hunter took the ensuing kickoff back 95 yards for a touchdown, putting West Monroe back up, 19-7, at the 5:02 first-quarter mark.
Bad Man Brown
Pats junior running back Terrell Brown ignited his team's comeback after they got down, 25-7, eight minutes into the contest. The 6-foot, 185-pound back powered his way to two touchdowns over the course of the rest of the half, the second of which pulling his within 8 points, 33-25.
Brown finished with 97 yards on 17 rushes.
Turning Point
With their defense winded, the Rebels' offense, clinging to a 1-point lead, put together its longest drive to open the final period.
John Ehret was still within one score, then Bolden took matters into his own hands, toting the ball five straight plays for 62 yards, clinching the win with a 33-yard touchdown run on fourth-and-1 with 1:39 to go to gave the Rebels a two-touchdown advantage.
What's next: West Monroe will travel to the Independence Bowl to face off against Booker T. Washington (Tulsa) in the Battle of the Border, kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m.

Just looked up AHS football classifications and assumed 7A was like some huge schools because in NC we only go up to 4A but after looking up the numbers break down every 4A and many of the 3A in NC would be classified as 7A in AL. I do like the break down better in AL as 1A & 2A in NC are usually combined here in the NC which compared to AL it would include 1A all the way to 5A. But it does make for Hoosier type of moments in NC when the some of the smaller schools that have under 200 win it all.

Not bad. Still needs work on the Bama-bangs if he is dead set on staying white and contributing at UA.
