Meh, Saban isn't infallible and his mistakes are fair game. Things like clock management right before half time, never signing good kickers, etc. But recruiting? Dang man...dude has what? 7 straight #1 classes? We can worry when he doesn't sign a top 5 class. It has been an unusually slow start, but I have very little doubt this class finishes top 5. Lots of big fish out there high on the Tide.

Oh we'll sign a Top 3 class. I think the bigger concern will be if we lose out on the majority of the top in-state talent.

We get negatively recruited at every turn and it appears the in-state kids for this class are eating that shite up for whatever reason.

Maybe it's because we recruit on a national level now and guys like TJ Simmons are transferring out (even though I think he was in line for some serious playing time this Fall).

Who knows? Fact is we'll still be okay.

Like I said, until we actually start missing on our major in-state guys I'm not worrying.

The good news is I'll be at a wedding tomorrow with zero Internet reception.

We all know we get a commitment when I'm out of pocket.

I don't have any problem with the criticism. The timing just seems strange. What happened in the last 24 hours or so? It just seems kind of random. Things are looking pretty good.

I agree it's better if we get the top AL kids. And we usually do. But the reality is, if some of them opt out of signing with us this year and we replace them with kids just as good or better from around the country, it's really no skin off our nose is it?

We still end up with a disgustingly talented class and roster that will kick arse for years to come whether they grew up in Alabama or in Texas, Cali and Florida.

As most of you know I have subscriptions to multiple pay sites (and I think I do a damn good job of making sure they are given proper credit for their info), but there is one whose main contributor is a terrible fricking writer.

His posts are written on a 5th grade level and I cringe every time I read his stuff.

It's bad.

His hubris is off the charts too. He thinks he is God's gift to Alabama recruiting news and I want to punch him in the face for it.

He fricking sucks.

I won't name names, but I cancelled my subscription due to his middle school penmanship.

Awful.

It's not complicated. Bama signed the most talented class of the Saban era, and stacked it on top of three other No. 1 classes.

Nick will sign another amazing class this year, but the only direction recruiting can possibly go from this past cycle is down.

My concerns for this class are DB and DL.

Unfortunately for us, we seemingly aren't in it for a lot of elite DBs or DLs.

We are in a great position for a bunch of pass rushing guys, but they are light in the pants.

We need interior dudes.

I'm not so sure about that as far as DL go. Apparently our top 3 DT targets right now (Bobby Brown, Tart-Spencer, and Tremblay), we lead for. Now, questioning the evaluation is one thing. But, if the reports are true, we're in awfully good shape for our main targets. As for DB, we'll probably flip Nadab Joseph, and I'd be shocked if we don't get at least one of Campbell or Jobe. It's not going to be the best class of all time like this past group, and won't even be as good (on paper) as Ohio State's class (probably the first and only time we'll say that), but it'll be top 3 like you say. Incidentally, the staff compares Armour-Davis to Marlon Humphrey. Hopefully they hit on that eval.

I don't know 100% what to chalk it up to, but the evaluations of the staff differ from the websites more than any other year in the Saban era by far. If Rodney Orr and several of the other guys weren't alerting us that we were going to be taking it MUCH slower with more of a dependence on camp evaluations in February, I'd be chalking the things I'm saying now to excuse making myself. And no, we really haven't ever heard our guys say that before. At least not as vocally as they were saying it. But so far, it's pretty much gone exactly as we were told. I'm interested to see how it plays out.

It's admittedly a down year in-state (seems we're saying that a lot lately) but the top guys are at positions of need. So it's frustrating that Alabama hasn't locked any up yet. I'm sure negative recruiting is part of that, but that's the case every year.

The flip side is, Alabama looks to dominate the 2019 in-state crop. And it's a very good group.

He's out of jail now.

This is his first time getting in trouble, so I doubt he'll miss any time against FSU

3714,
If we land the 3 DT's you mentioned we lead for, and they top our board, where does that leave Coynis Miller? At that point, is he even a take in this smaller class?

This is not the kind of news I was expecting to see on one of the few times I'll be able to get on the web today.

Not him, but I think we'd have room for Miller too. It looks like we may not sign a QB (Tanner McKee doesn't count account the numbers) so we could potentially have a "free" spot to add whoever we wanted at any position.

Miller has a young teammate who is supposed to be a stud for the Class of 2020. We can't allow Auburn to have both Moultry and Miller. They'd definitely be the front runner for the young kid with both of them on campus.

The last time my wife was in a wedding didn't turn out so well for the bride and groom.

They only lasted 3 months.
