Auburn is climbing up the list of St. Clair County defensive tackle Jalen Cunningham's top schools.
The Tigers, which were once outside of the three-star recruit's top five, are now at No. 3 behind Mississippi State and leader Alabama.
This comes after a visit to Big Cat Weekend on Saturday and leading into a trip to Tuscaloosa for camp.
Big Cat Weekend went "great," Cunningham said.
"Seeing the coaches and them react to us, showing us the best side of them (stood out)," Cunningham said about Auburn. "It's a big push from them because I didn't think I was going to get an offer from them. It's a great feeling."
Cunningham has been incognito lately, as his phone broke and Twitter went down. His coach, Matt Glover, is handling communication for the most part.
Cunningham is also planning on camping at Mississippi State and Ole Miss. The good news for Cunningham is that he showed up to Auburn on Saturday a little bit trimmed down, from around 365 pounds to 352 on his 6-foot-3 frame.
He doesn't look sloppy and carries his weight well, but in the past, his coach has said he will be at his best if he can get down to around 320.
"Just dominate, really," Cunningham said of what he's looking to accomplish at Alabama's camp. "Show that I can drop weight, because that's mainly what they are focusing on."

Maybe it's just my negative attitude towards recruiting this year

Well if it makes you feel better Lane Kiffin just offered a fricking scholarship to a 6th grader.

The recruiting process has reached the next level for Central-Phenix City receiver Justyn Ross, the state's top recruit.
The 6-foot-4 Ross is ranked No. 27 nationally and is the highest-ranked four-star recruit in the composite rankings.
Ross has offers from all over the country. Many think it will come down to Alabama and Auburn, but he raved about his visit to Clemson this spring and also wants to visit Ohio State and Florida, among others.
But now his mother, Charay Franklin, is back in Phenix City after a tour of duty with the U.S. National Guard. With Franklin returning to the states, her comfort level with the schools will help him narrow down his list possibly to a top five before the season.
She's been able to join Ross on trips over the past few days to Tuscaloosa and Auburn.
"When she first got back, she said her phone started blowing up from all the coaches when they knew she was back," Ross said Saturday after Auburn's Big Cat Weekend festivities.
Ross and his mother recently had a Skype call with Alabama head coach Nick Saban.
"It was good because she finally got a chance to actually talk to him (Saban on skype)," Ross said. "It's always a great talk with Coach Saban."
He said highlights of the Big Cat Weekend included watching the recruits during a pie-eating contest, which Auburn offensive line commit Kam Stutts won.
"It was real nice to get her here for a visit," Ross said. "I have a real good relationship with pretty much all the coaching staff and it's right up the road (from Phenix City."
He did say he spoke with Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham, but not much about recruiting.
Ross is likely to make his decision after the season.
Two former teammates are now Iron Bowl rivals. Defensive back John Broussard is heading into his second season at Auburn.
"He doesn't recruit me as hard as others do, but I know he wants me to come up there," Ross said.
Linebacker Markail Benton just arrived in Tuscaloosa.
"He just got up there last week and he's been texting me about it," Ross said.

Our staff believes (And have actually even said so publicly at REC functions) this is by far the weakest national class overall (not just at one specific position) during Saban's tenure. Where they usually have 4-5 guys per position identified as elite, this year it's more like 1-2. That's one reason why camp evaluations are such a big deal this year.

He's a damn idiot.
Is "Big Cat Weekend" really the best they can come up with? I've laughed at that for years

They could be sponsored by Nathan's Hot Dogs seeing as they hold a eating contest for like 5 foods during the weekend.
Nathan's Hot Dogs Big Cat Weekend.

Internet chatter seems to suggest we may get a commitment from Penei Sewell,OL from Utah sooner than later.
Now this would be a great catch.

I know Rivals/247/Scout etc. have to keep people interested, but wouldn't someone else have said this about the class overall? For example, people have already come out and said 2019's QB class looks bad. Wouldn't the entire 2018 class have been put on notice by someone by now?
When something like this is said after a ton of top prospects in the country are already scooped up it sounds like sour grapes. Probably not the intention but that's the way people will interpret it

Does this have real legs or is this just your 2 bits?
Posted on 6/6/17 at 9:32 am to BlackPawnMartyr
Seems to be worth more than 2bits.Everyone is talking about this guy and posting his pics with Saban. On twitter,BOL and Rivals. His parents also made the trip with him. So TIFWIW.
But it looks good in my opinion.

For example, people have already come out and said 2019's QB class looks bad.
That remains to be seen. Bo Nix won the QB MVP award at the Atlanta Opening Regional where he beat out Emory Jones.
JT Daniels may be better than all of the 2018 QBs when it's all said and done.
I mean one of the top rated QBs in the 2018 class, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, has never started a high school game due to being the backup to Tate Martell.
Give the kids with two years left the benefit of the doubt. Some studs will emerge between now and the end of their Senior year.
ETA: I'm not saying he is right or wrong, but there is now way Justyn Ross would have been a 5-star WR last cycle. There were too many kids better than him at the position. Thankfully we signed 3 of them.

Trussville (Ala.) Hewitt-Trussville quarterback Paul Tyson, the grandson of former Alabama head coach Bear Bryant, tells Irish247 he will be on campus again this weekend.
The 6-4, 210-pounder made his way to South Bend on Apr. 2 for Sophomore Day. This will be his second trip.
Tyson is a quarterback that Notre Dame is closely evaluating. A strong performance this weekend could land him an early offer from the Fighting Irish or at least keep him firmly on the staff's radar. Army, Connecticut, and Kentucky have already offered.
Tyson is looking to continue his strong offseason. He was terrific during his high school's spring game, as he threw for 263 yards and three touchdowns.

ETA: Tyson might be one of the guys in the 2019 class ready to make a jump.
