To be fair, I think he’s playing it for the CB appoints. Being the 17th pick for Alabama doesn’t get you as many points as being one of the few for clemson.

Alabama will not sign 4-star LB Vernon Jackson on National Signing Day | SEC Country

It was likely that Jackson wasn’t going to end up signing with the Crimson Tide on Wednesday anyway, as he has been rumored to flip to Texas A&M for a few weeks now. Jackson took an official visit to Texas A&M this past weekend.
With Jackson officially out of the picture, that could open a spot up for a player like 3-star prospect Jaylen Moody out of Conway, S.C. Moody took an official visit to Tuscaloosa this past weekend.

We get Brown and Smith tomorrow I’ll consider whatever else we get gravy. Really need at least one more solid DT and CB. Those two fit that box. We honestly don’t have a lot of other immediate “needs” so anything else is for funs.

Now, I don't really have much to base this of off at all and it's pure conjecture, but it wouldn't surprise me if we unfortunately happen to miss one or both (depending on what happens with other guys at different positions) of PS2/TC that we then try to get Copeland. In this scenario, either Copeland or Williams moves to DB. Hell, maybe Saban is already aware of this possibility, and it played into not pressing for ITS (along with the other factors).
Additionally, their announcement times make sense for this, too, I think.
I posted this earlier today, but it got lost in the Langham fray. Shameless bump, but does anybody have thoughts?

Summary: errybody’s own insider is picking all the ‘cruits to us(us being the insider’s team). They are shaky on one or two but they are sticking to their guns/going with their gut on this one. Tomorrow is going to be either a shitshow or the rebirth of the program. It comes down to a coin flip.
