Wonder if we are cooling on Jackson or the Aggies turning up the heat?

I doubt we'll have room for Jackson and recent chatter is he's leaning toward staying close to home. Seems pretty likely he'll flip to ATM or possibly TCU.

Does this mean that on signing day, he screws us over by picking another team? Kickers enjoy sticking it to us

Here is the kicker.

If you showed me a line up and asked me to point out the Temple kicker, I would pick this guy every time

How are you guys feeling re: ITS, Griffin, and Smith? Those 3 have been Pruitt’s main targets since he seemingly took over, and while VOLS were confident at one point of another for all 3, it appears we are fighting an uphill battle now that Saban has entered the picture.

Sounds pretty good with ITS, pretty bad with Griffin and toss up with Smith.

Most seem to think we have 3 spots for 5 DB targets : Surtain, Campbell, ITS, Griffin, Smith. Where we stand with each seems to vary with the day.

Alabama recruiting question of the day: Which QB does Tide end up signing? | SEC Country

quote:

Do you think we sign Purdy or White? And do you think we sign ITS and Surtain? — Trae Zegarra (@Trae1190) January 29, 2018

The quarterback list is down to three options: 4-star prospects James Foster and Brevin Whiteand 3-star prospect Brock Purdy.

Foster is down to Alabama, Florida State, LSU and Texas A&M. Even though Foster, who attends Sidney Lanier High School in Montgomery grew up a major Crimson Tide fan, I don’t think he’s going to end up in this class.

White is committed to Princeton and he’s deciding whether going to one of the most prestigious academic universities in the world is more important to him than playing for one of the best college football programs of all time. I don’t think he ends up in this class.

Purdy is down to Alabama, Iowa State and UCF. He’s planning to commit on National Signing Day on Feb. 7. I think there’s a good chance he ends up being the Tide’s quarterback in the 2018 class; however, he’s weighing his options because the path to early playing time is better at Iowa State and UCF than at Alabama.

So it’s a possibility Alabama misses on a quarterback in this class. What happens if that ends up being the case? Well, Alabama does have a preferred walk-on offer out to in-state quarterback Braxton Barker, who is the son of former Tide quarterback Jay Barker. The Tide also could extend a preferred walk-on spot to St. Paul’s Episcopal (Mobile, Ala.) quarterback Swift Lyle.

Nick Saban likes signing at least one quarterback in every recruiting class, but there’s just not a slam dunk out there. And if the Tide have to go the preferred walk-on route, that would open up a spot for the team to sign another defensive back.

As for your second question, I don’t think Alabama ends up signing both cornerbacks. I am still leaning toward the team signing 5-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr.

Think Griffin is USC or VOLS, ITS seems set on Bama and Smith probably as well. Don't think we can overcome a Saban in home + Devonta.

Bama getting Surtain may cause this site to crash lol.

Surtain needs to come to Bama so I can swim around in the calming waters of the Great Melt of 2018.

Pruitt's hands are tied this year. Next year, I really expect him to make noise recruiting.

Yeah, Lyle and the previous staff basically quit recruiting in September, and most of the guys Pruitt has been hard after were kids that weren't even offered by the previous staff (Lyle almost seemed scared to try and recruit against the big boys in the SEC. Not even trying for guys like Peterson, Walker, Copeland, Coynis Miller, the kids from American Heritage, etc. is just unacceptable). Think the only one who was looked at by the previous staff that is still on our board is Langham, who seems to be headed your way.

Yep our only shot with him was if Bama didn't have room.

Never mind. His status was addressed by BOL already:

quote:

After signing U.S. Army All-American punter Skyler DeLong in the Early Signing Period to replace JK Scott next season, Alabama landed a walk-on commitment from Temple grad transfer kicker Austin Jones on Monday after the Orlando native took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

He won't affect the 85 limit.
