If we keep everyone currently committed to us and added Surtain, ITS, NPF, Waddle, Ross and Purdy our score would be 312.37.

Surtain & NPF would give us 3 players in the top 10 (including Anoma). I can dig it, RTR!

How bad does losing Walker hurt us?

His "value" is 28.13 points so losing him would hurt, but our score would still be over 300 if we added a 4-star player in his place.

I was messing around with the Class Calculator on 247 a few minutes ago. If we keep everyone currently committed to us and added Surtain, ITS, NPF, Waddle, Ross and Purdy our score would be 312.37. That would jump ahead of Georgia and Ohio State for the #1 ranked class.

Wow....... that could happen. However are you factoring in the commitments left for UGA and Ohio st. Im pretty sure both have a five star left to sign. So their scores will go up as well correct?

TS - you may have linked a video and/or broken him down already, but check out this video of Brevin White. The play he makes at about the 42 second mark - scrambling, keeping eyes down field, and leading a player to an open spot - was impressive. Positives - Looks to be accurate, above average arm strength (not elite), and climbs the ladder well. He also has decent escapability and doesn't always go to his right when he does escape. He's got above average athleticism. Negatives - I didn't see a lot of going through reads, but most HS QBs don't. Arm strength is good, not great. Release was slow at times (when not throwing to primary WR right away).

JR yr highlights

I watched it last night. I still like Brock Purdy more, but I wouldn't be upset if we landed White. I wish his arm was as strong as his older brother's, but it's decent I guess.

He does have very nice footwork and mechanics though.

ETA: Another thing to remember is this is his Junior film. His arm may be stronger now.

Here's 247/Scout's evaluation on Brevin White from his profile page:

quote:

White showed a lot of promise as a freshman with poise, leadership and toughness beyond his years. Physically we still want him to fill out but he is a player that can make every throw you want him to, has nice pocket mobility and can pick up 1st down yards with his legs when he needs to. He throws a tight ball, is a smart quarterback and shows a lot of courage standing in the pocket. He will take a hit in order to get the ball out and has always been accurate on the deep ball- Biggins

I messed around with it and dropped out Quay and Jackson, added in what you had above with Eddie Smith and White in place of Purdy. Losing Quay would suck. Losing Jackson wouldn't really impact the class calculation and, if he was replaced by a higher rated player, the #1 class is shockingly still in reach. Amazing given the circumstances.

I don't know what you're getting at here Saint, but take that mess to the QB thread.

Saint wants him some Purdy. He thinks he could be the next Drew Brees...
Saint is a good QB evaluator...so I am hoping he's right.

Elite 2020 DE Murphy gets offer from childhood favorite, Alabama

quote:

THE LATEST: South Carolina offered Myles Murphy on Thursday, so that is his most recent offer, but the one before that came from Alabama. Brent Key, the offensive line coach for Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa was at Powder Springs (Ga.) Hillgrove to check on Murphy Wednesday, one day after the offer from the Crimson Tide was presented.

The 6-foot-5, 245 pound sophomore defensive end grew up a fan of the Alabama, so this is a very big offer to him.

IN HIS OWN WORDS: "I was expecting to get an offer from Alabama, but I thought it would come during my junior year or even the summer before my senior year, so I was surprised when I found out about it Tuesday," said Murphy. "I had been to their camp the summer before my ninth grade year and they have been by the school before, so I knew they knew me, but I was still very surprised by the offer.

"This offer means to me that they see the talent I have. Alabama sees me as a top tier guy, they see my potential and they like me as a pass rusher.

"What stands out to me about Alabama is the way they transform players into men. They teach them how to handle the media, how to succeed in the outside world and that is what really stands out most to me. They just make guys into great players and great men.

"I grew up an Alabama fan. When I first started watching football, they were a team I saw always playing aggressive and playing hard. That stood out to me, so I started liking them. The way they have played just made them fun to watch. I like their aggression, how their defenses are always unstoppable and they were the first school I liked.

"When I got my first offer from Georgia, I kind of hit the reset button on liking Alabama or any school really. I had to put things into perspective and look at the education, the graduation rate and things not just about my favorite school as a kid. I am open to all schools now. I like Alabama still, but I do not have a favorite or anything."

RIVALS REACTION: It is interesting that Murphy's favorite as a child was Alabama because he has a cousin, Dexter Murphy that played football at Auburn. He has six offers now and that is a little surprising being the type of prospect he is. When all is said and done, Murphy will be able to go wherever he wants. He is on track to be a national name and he plans to visit Alabama again in the near future.
