Bama certainly makes the most sense if not for some assistant coaching relationship.

I think the possibility of Big Ed not being there over two more years based on the success of this season will be a factor.
Looking at the stability of Saban and comparing the state of both programs combined with our equal
DB production/development would make us a better choice. His people may prefer that stability combine that with us also losing
6 DB's from our depth charts.
But would also expect Aranda to get a shot at the HC if that accrued with raymond staying.
But That uncertainty could push it our way.

Raymond didn't join the LSU staff until 2012, so Collins wouldn't really count.

Brown is one, Hootie Jones is another. Though Jones did decommit from Bama after the Kamara incident and tried to commit to LSU but didn't have a spot by then.

Saivion Smith, Kevin Toliver, Jacoby Stevens are just a few I can think of that Raymond got over Bama. Several more if I go back and look.

Bama doesn't fare well going up against Raymond for a top DB.

Landon Collins, Tony Brown?

Probably about right. Minkah was offered by LSU and was recruited by Raymond too.

Raymond is a great coach and he does a great job of developing those relationships. Not to be rude to our LSU friend on this board, but what else is LSU selling at this time? Bama offers better shot at SEC and National title. They offer just as good of a shot at being drafted and drafted high. They offer a greater chance to showcase yourself in big games.

And, Saban won't coach forever, so they also offer a chance to be directly coached by the GOAT, which will appeal to a lot of kids. LSU has instability at HC, instability on O, and they're not exactly trending in right direction. You've got to love Raymond or have an LSU/La tie to choose them in this class IMO.

TIFWIW, but a dude on BOL thinks Raymond is trying to get out of LSU. The door is open for Bama, depending on what Raymond tells the Surtains about his longterm intentions at LSU.

Supposedly he recently reached out to an NFL team about an opening. Again, TIFWIW...

We still have 1 more staff opening to fill.

He has apparently told us no thanks twice now because he wanted the DC position.

Assuming you're talking about Raymond, is that from a good insider source or just speculation?

If LSU loses Raymond, they are so screwed.

"Good" insiders on BOL. Not any of the Mods, though.

Jeff Banks is putting in serious work. One of the Scout/247 guys (Blair Angulo) just posted that Irvin should be off the board by this time next week. Says Banks hit it out the park with the family and thinks Saban will be in to try to close the deal on Monday. USC also made a big impression.

Decision will come down to USC and Bama

Man LSU fans are something else. These are some of the things said that I find hilarious.

quote:

Screw Moses and Allen. They chose to be just another guy by going there. The way their team is set up, they rarely have more than 2-3 players that are known across the country by name. Saban gets all the pub for that team. I would venture to say more people recognize our studs across the country.

quote:

[quote]Moses is far from just another guy there. He played well this year and will start next. Already being hyped as the next big time Bama LB.[quote]

He was a pile tapper. He didn’t play well, he played because of a ridiculous amount of injuries. I expect him to be just what he was in high school, a great looking specimen that has no football instincts but will wow everyone in shorts and t shirt.

So ITS and Irvin will be who Bama closes with at DB.

Those two plus Jobe, Smith and JAD is a great haul at DB.

Fwiw Gus is using his in home tonight on Malik Langham to try & convince him to visit. Would have to cancel either his Tennessee or Florida trip. Should know tonight whether or not AU is a threat
