It looks like LSU is favored for Mario Goodrich, so it may not hurt them too badly if they lose Surtain to us.

Of course, they'll still be pissed tho.

Really wish AU had made a move after this kid or Taiyon Palmer earlier this month. Our staff tho seems in love with McCreary and holding out hope can get Griffin to visit

Before Brown signed with Bama none of the character stuff had appeared yet. All we were told was that he was a family kid and a good kid. Funny how memories work when people feel shunned. Only real rumor around was the talk of them wanting medical stuff taken care. No one believed it until he chose Bama.
Bamas confidence is scary. I never fall for too much of the rumor mill this time of year, after all these sites are trying to maximize traffic, but ive learned that when Bama is confident you have to at least give it a little respect. Add the fact that our insiders really aren't that in the know and it can be concerning.
Of course I'd be disappointed if we lose him but all this talk of him being an immediate star is just crazy. I remember a time when Kevin Toliver was that guy. How'd that work out? None of these kids are guaranteed to be anything beyond hype.(“you know why ? Respect that’s why”) lolol!!!!

I found this on the LSU RB about rule changes:

They considered Surtain an LSU lock -- until the SEC Country article appeared today predicting him to UA: SEC Country Bama guy says Gumps now lead for PS2

Lol, seen that one! I will probably say there are some good guys on these threads from all teams really!!! I think for the most Georgia handled themselves pretty much with class with the loss, aubies have some good ones too even LSU , but LSU has the most negative towards us than any team !! Let’s take Surtain Jr for the heck of it! Lol

In that article it states:

quote:

Athletes who sign in a particular class are locked into that signing class whether or not they enroll in that fall. Schools can no longer count gray shirts or players placed in junior colleges in future signing classes once they sign the letter of intent with a particular group.

Not sure how that applies to J Parks. I did not think Grey shirts signed a NLI because that was the worry they could end up elsewhere. The way that is written a grey shirt will enroll the following year but will be back counted into the previous class.

So based on my number speculation we may be able to more then 22 in this class with back counting, at least according to the article. Since over 4 classes we can sign 100 and in 2015 signed 24, 16 signed 23, 17 signed 26 giving us a total of 73 signed. Leaving 2 extra spots for 2018 for a total of 27(which would include Brannon, Bulovas, and Parks).

Also found this with some math regarding Minnesota's class per 247 article.

LINK

quote:

As it stands right now, Minnesota heads into this new signing period with over 25 commits, sitting at 26. They also inked 26 in the 2017 cycle but only took 22 in 2016. They’re going to have room to maneuver and count guys back.

Basically they have 75 spots over 3 classes. They can end up with 27 in this class. Since they took 22 in 2016 they can back count 3 of the 26 in 2017 leaving 23 in the 2017 class as counters. So the 18 class can sign 27 back counting 2 to 2017.

Not only can they sign a player that's a difference maker for their program, but saban knows that it would be huge to take a player that LSU wants. He has always done that bc he knows the threat that LSU poses to his program at bama. Saban coached here and knows the talent that is produced here. Any way that he can sign a player that we want, he's going to

Holy delusion bat man. This MF here has lost his damn mind. Has he been watching CFB the last ten years? He is a difference maker to a program that has won 5 national titles in 9 years and LSU hasn't been a threat since 2011. Chances are long on Surtain but there's some uninformed posters in that thread and a lot of them.

247Sports classifies Mario Goodrich (247) as a 4-star ATH, projected at WR, CB, RET. In this LSU RB thread it sounds like he played QB in HS. If they miss on Surtain it should open a spot to take Goodrich.

Idk how the recent rule changes may affect our situation. But you may be right after all. The 85 cap may have been a cause for what was done with Parks, Brannon and Bullovas.

I know this, tho. I won't try to figure out our numbers situation. Makes my head hurt.
Anyway, I hope you're right that maybe we can take more than 8 if needed.

Same and every year there seems to be more kids in a class then we supposedly have room for. If it makes my head hurts imagine how the staff feels determining who will be an initial counter on current previous, or next years class, who will affect the 85 man roster, and who will start their eligibility clock based on what color shirt is assigned to them. Glad I am just a fan

In the end though we get who we get, should be a great a class, and the discussion of who missed on will began the day after NSD.

Some dude named Blair Angulo put in a Foggy CB for Brock Purdy.

His CB profile says he is a Mountain Region Recruiting Analyst.

Whatever the frick that means.

Looking at Alabama's early enrollees

It's one of those stupid slideshows from 247 that won't let me copy and paste the information. It's a free read though so just follow the link.

The player personnel staff, with rules help from compliance, likely has roster management & the numbers down pat -- in a slick spreadsheet-based planning system.
