I don't understand how you take a qb who probably will never play over a future NFL player.

I have a feeling with transfer and maybe others declaring for the draft we can take more then 22. The hard cap is 85 but can take up to 25 per class not counting back counters

Jarez Parks, Hunter Brannon & Joseph Bullovas will have to be counted against the 25 for 2018. Counting those three we have 17 2018 signees. 25 - 17 = 8 spots left.

Let's hope that we have more spots than we think because I do think we need a qb. Just not at the expense of any of the guys that we have left on the board.

Saban has said we can sign only 8 more.

My only hope is that Saban was being coy with the media and not tipping his hand to opposing staffs that we may be able to land one or two more.

We don't need any spots counting against 2019.

8 is all and enough.

No clue about transfers. I wish we'd see how Bulovas looks as a PK in the Spring, and if he's not getting it done, bring in a grad transfer as a PK.

Walker will be a future starter. Purdy will ride the bench for two years and transfer out.

I honestly don't know. Pretty sure we wouldn't take Irvin if Surtain and Campbell happened to both want to come. Not sure about ITS.

So who wouldn't have a spot if Surtain, Campbell/ITS, and Irvin wanted on board?

I left Eddie Smith out.
Bobby Brown?
Waddle?
Ross?
Petit-Frere?

Who gets left out?

I think we only take the 2 best DBs unless we miss on someone you listed.

I think a lot of this is decided if one of the three QB we have right now have told the coaches that they will transfer. If that has happened you have to take a QB if not then with the possibility of taking two QBs next year you roll with no QB in this class.

Counting for Parks as Bulovas & Brannon are already on the roster and including Brown transferring I see 65 returning that are on scholarship based on recruiting sites. The 20 gone are the seniors RS seniors and 5 juniors who declared. So that would only give us 20 spots. So if everyone is right there are 2 more that the staff is already looking to replace. Probably a few RS Juniors as we have 8 of those and not sure if they will stay but could all have degrees. There also may be a few transferring we have yet to hear about.

The cap rule for the class is 25. Counting the 14 that signed with Walker, Jackson, and Parks we technically should be able to add 8 more to the class. Did Saban say we could only add 8 more or sign 8 more more? Just curious because if add maybe he was already including those 3 with the 14 signed.

Saban always finds a way to make it under the 85 total cap by fall. But there is a hard cap of only 25 signees per class. I think the 2017 25 cap caused us to delay Parks, Brannon, and Bullovas into counting against the 2018 cap. Those 3 + the 14 ESP signees = 17. Parks is on scholarship now. So, if Brannon & Bullovas get scholarships, we can only sign 8 more for 2018 (17+8=25). 25 is the class cap, regardless of how attrition gets us under the 85 total scholarships cap.

Brannon and Bullovas got scholarships back in August. They blueshirted. They enrolled in June and had to pay there way until August.

Either way we are looking at #3 or #4 class with Clemson challenging us for the top 3 spot. Even with 25 spots I dont know we beat out Georgia or Ohio st.

Thanks. My memory sux.

Even though they were on scholarships this fall, as blueshirts they could only practice (not play) until they become part of the signed 2018 class.

So, we indeed now have 17 signees that count against the 2018 class cap. 25 - 17 = 8 more we can sign. And we've taken a blueshirt (Parks, TE). He'll count against 2019's 25 cap.

A walk-on QB just won the Heisman and is a projected 1st round pick in the draft come April.

I posted a few pages back why Purdy's recruitment wasn't normal due to circumstances out of his control.

He's a hell of a lot better than Mac Jones.

We've also had our fair share of 5-star busts.

So let's slow our roll when it comes to projecting the career arcs of 17-18 year old kids.
