5-star CB locks in Alabama official visit date
This is huge for us.
quote:
Five-star cornerback Isaac Taylor-Stuart will now visit Alabama on Jan. 26-28 instead of Georgia, the La Mesa (Calif.) Helix product announced on Twitter Monday night.
Taylor-Stuart, one of the Crimson Tide's top remaining targets in the 2018 class, has already officially visited both Texas A&M and USC. He has a visit to Tennessee set up for Feb. 2 and plans to reschedule the Georgia trip.
The change in schedule is significant in the fact that Alabama is now guaranteed a weekend trip. The nation's No. 2 cornerback is currently in Hawaii for the Polynesian Bowl and will be unable to take a visit this upcoming weekend, which leaves just two more if he is going to decide by National Signing Day.
Taylor-Stuart told BamaOnLine at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl that the Tide would "for sure" receive an official visit after having to cancel the trip to Tuscaloosa he had set for Dec. 15-17 since his high school was playing in the state championship.
The Tide was at one point Taylor-Stuart's leader in 2016 before dropping from the top spot as more schools got involved. UA will now have a chance to reposition itself atop the five-star's list.
“Honestly, I’ve just got to take the official visit back there and go from there and everything,” Taylor-Stuart told BOL of how the Tide can retake the lead. “Ask the players how do you feel, do you like being here, is it worth it, things like that.”
Currently the Crystal Ball says USC leads followed by Texas A&M and then Alabama.
It's co-defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi who Taylor-Stuart told BOL he hears from the most. The Tide will now be aided in pursuit in that new assistant Jeff Banks was Taylor-Stuart's primary recruiter for the Aggies.
At 6-foot-2, 187 pounds, Taylor-Stuart is rated the No. 26 overall player in the country, per the industry-generated 247Sports Composite.

Get him there a full weekend and Saban should be able to close the deal

Yep. I was correcting while you posted.

For whatever reason, Surtain and Campbell don't want to play together.
If we could pull Surtain and ITS...

Unless natties matter a lot to Surtain, it seems he's about a lock to LSU.
Even if we only add ITS, we got a sick DB class.

Well as long as Campbell visits like he is supposed to nothing is final.

5-star CB Isaac Taylor-Stuart sets Alabama official visit | SEC Country
quote:
Defensive back is arguably Alabama’s biggest need in the 2018 class because the Tide are losing Ronnie Harrison, Minkah Fitzpatrick, Tony Brown, Hootie Jones, Anthony Averett and Levi Wallace heading into next season.
Nick Saban said at his press conference recapping the early signing period that Alabama would like to sign 5 defensive backs in the 2018 class. The Tide have 3 currently signed in 4-star prospects Jayln Armour-Davis, Josh Jobe and Saivion Smith.
One of the prospects Alabama would like to sign is 5-star cornerback Isaac Taylor-Stuart. Taylor-Stuart told SEC Country earlier this month that he would ‘for sure’ visit Tuscaloosa before making his commitment on Natonal Signing Day. That visit is now set.
The Army All-American will officially visit Alabama on Jan. 26 and stay through the 28th. Taylor-Stuart was originally planning on visiting Georgia that weekend. It’s not clear if he’ll visit Athens before signing day.
Georgia did have 5-star cornerback Tyson Campbell, a major Alabama target, on campus this past weekend. I know the Bulldogs feel confident with where they stand with him. Campbell is visiting Tuscaloosa this weekend.
In addition to Taylor-Stuart and Campbell, Alabama is still targeting 5-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr. and Eddie Smith in the secondary.
It should be noted that with the staff addition of Jeff Banks, Alabama hired Taylor-Stuart’s primary recruiter at Texas A&M. There are some people who believed the Aggies were the favorites before Banks’ departure.
The Tide have turned up the heat on Taylor-Stuart lately, especially after losing Nadab Joseph, who flipped from Alabama to Georgia during the Dec. 20-22 early signing period after Alabama didn’t send him a letter of intent due to academic concerns. Outside linebackers coach Tosh Lupoi is Taylor-Stuart’s primary recruiter.

You do not want JAMES Foster because he beat Prattville the last two years.

Saint just moved to Prattville, I don't think he gives a shite about that

I think his diva attitude is more concerning.
Dude loves being recruited. I am glad AU backed off because frankly we haven't proven we can handle those type of personalities all that well (which is why nervous about Joiner). Considering Saban's track record I don't think it would be a big concern for ya'll.
He's is electric in space. He wasn't great at getting consistent separation in Orlando during Under Armour week but he's a guy that if you can get the ball too on quick passes or in the open field he's a nightmare to tackle. There's a little Percy Harvin to his game imo

Can any of these five star cornerbacks start in 2018? We’ve got two big holes there and an elite three year starter would be a sigh of relief!

quote:Ummmmm I think the secondary is pretty much locked in loaded for 2018 honestly. Unless one of these guys is a Minkah type player I don't see them getting much burn.

FS - Thompson
SS - Mayden/Diggs
CB - S. Smith
CB - Diggs/Carter
NB - Mayden/Knott

I wouldn’t count out Daniel Wright or Xavier McKinney at the other safety spot opposite of Thompson.

I'm betting on McKinney to end up starting somewhere.
I've said before that if Diggs isn't projected as a starter (forget two deep) he needs to go back to WR. He's got that big body and to me he showed some promise there last year.
