Powder Springs (Ga.) McEachern quarterback Bailey Hockman, 2017 four-star prospect and former Georgia commit, is expected to unofficially visit Alabama during the first week of April on his Spring Break, his father Kyle Hockman tells BamaOnLine.

One of the USCe mods CB'd Hockman to Alabama about 15 minutes ago FWIW.

Man, I sure hope not.

My pecking order is:

1.Hawaiian QB
2. (tied) Tate Martell
3. (tied) Davis Mills

I believe Martell is very much in play. I'm sure the Hawaiian QB is probably a tough pull from the West Coast schools. Mills looks like the real deal to me. Good arm and mobility.

And not 30 seconds after I typed that I find out Mills committed to Stanford.

Oh well. Flip him.

Well that sucks.

Like I said a couple of days ago, I really like the kid out of Arkansas. 71% completion percentage to go along with 49 TD passes? Yes pls.

In the past 24 hours, wide receiver Jeremiah Hollomon picked up offers from Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama. Those rolled in after he won an MVP award at an Atlanta camp where he dominated opposing defensive backs.

Hollomon, a three-star talent from Newton High School (Covington, Ga.), told SEC Country that Alabama is now one of his top schools.

“I have always loved Alabama. I feel like Alabama gets the best out of you,” Hollomon said. “They have a great football team and it’s a great academic school. It’s also close to home.”

The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder visited Alabama Friday for the start of spring practice, but he left campus with no scholarship offer. The coaches told him at the time that they needed to see some more film before offering him.

Once they got the film from Sunday’s camp, Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt texted Hollomon’s coach to let him know that the reigning national champions were ready to offer him

Holloman still can’t believe it.

“It’s crazy. Alabama is the mecca of football,” Hollomon said. “I feel like I still have a lot of work that needs to be done, but knowing that I have the ability to play at Alabama is just crazy.”

The Newton receiver wants to be clear about one thing, though. After receiving an offer from his home-state Bulldogs, he felt that many people will automatically assume he’s going to stay in Georgia. That’s not necessarily the case.

“A lot of people are thinking that just because Georgia offered me that I’m just going to commit to them,” Holloman said. “Actually, I am considering every school that has offered me, and I’m keeping all of my options open.”

Hollomon said he’s planning on committing closer to National Signing Day in February.

Markail Benton, a four-star outside linebacker from Central High School (Phenix City, Ala.), was shown Alabama’s linebacker big board on his most recent trip to Alabama and stared at it in disbelief.

Benton is projected by most to attend Auburn. (Rob Saye/Special)
“I don’t know if they were supposed to show me that, but I was at the top,” Benton told SEC Country. “They were just telling me they needed me badly and, as I saw, they need linebackers.

“I was kind of shocked to see the board. Most people don’t have the opportunity to say they are at the top of Alabama’s list.”

That recruiting tactic definitely made an impact on Benton, who is the No. 2 overall prospect in the state of Alabama. You could hear it in his voice how genuinely happy and excited he was knowing just how big of a priority he is to the reigning national champions.

Most in the recruiting industry believe Benton is a lock to go to Auburn. According to his 247Sports Crystal Ball, 100 percent of recruiting analysts believe he’ll commit to the Tigers.

The Under Armour All-American has visited Auburn countless times, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s committing there. After all, it is just a quick 30 minute drive to the campus.

Just this last year, five-star defensive tackle Derrick Brown, who ended up committing to Auburn, made countless trips to Georgia. He was there almost every single week and most believed he was a slam dunk for the Bulldogs. On signing day, Brown chose the Tigers.

So just because Benton is going to continue to visit Auburn several more times, his interest in Alabama is very high. He tentatively scheduled a return trip to Tuscaloosa next weekend with his family and will be in attendance for the spring game.

Ever since Monty Rice was around 8 years old, he followed the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Rice, a three-star inside linebacker from James Clemens High School (Madison, Ala.), visited Alabama Friday for the start of spring practice and just left campus in awe.

“It’s been a dream of mine to play for them,” Rice told SEC Country. “It’s a special feeling knowing I’ve earned the chance to do that.”

The 6-foot-1, 227-pounder didn’t think about committing while he was on campus because there are several other schools that he is interested in such as Auburn, Georgia, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Michigan and Florida State.

He does know why he would commit to the Tide if he does end up choosing them.

“I’m an Alabama fan and they win,” Rice said. “I mean, who doesn’t want to go there? Nick Saban is a legend.”

Rice spent most of the practice watching the linebacker drills. He had a chance to speak with Alabama defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt while he was on campus.

“I was asking if it was difficult to learn the defense and he told me that there is a learning curve, but their players are ready to play in the pros because it’s more like an NFL defense.”

The rising prospect says he may commit to his school of choice before the start of his senior season this fall.

He is rated as the nation’s No. 23 inside linebacker and is the No. 32 prospect in the state of Alabama.

Rice is one of the most underrated recruits in the last couple cycles relative to where he's rated early on in the process, IMO. No clue why he's not at least a high 4* with his mix of athleticism and production.

The latest prospect to snag an offer is Norcross, Ga., standout Davis Mills. The 6-foot-3, 192-pound Mills is a four-star recruit ranked as the No. 80 overall recruit and No. 4 pro-style quarterback in the 247Sports recruiting

Why do you feel Tate Martell is in play? He doesn't seem any place near us. I like Tua, but no way he picks us over USC/UCLA.

To be honest, I'm kind of tired of the "landsharking" UCLA has done to us the past years. Eddie Vanderdoes, Texas LB (forgot his name), LB kid last year, etc...

UCLA is using some of the same things (with less on-the-field success) that USC did for a long time under Carroll. The bright lights of L.A. and all.

Both of these guys were busts.......so maybe it was actually a godsend that they got them.

Martell is in play because he's committed to A&M. Everyone that's committed to them is in play since their coach is on the verge of getting fired and they are a mess currently. They've lost a ton of decommitments and transfers in the last year. Bama and USC rounded out his top 3.

Think we have a shot at the Hawaiian QB. Why wouldn't we be in the mix? We're usually in the mix with the West Coast QBs these days. Now, I'll agree that USC will be tough. I like our chances going against UCLA in a fair fight (which granted, as pointed out by others, doesn't always happen with those guys). Mora is also the most likely college coach to go to the NFL.

If I were a betting man, I'd bet our QB signee comes from Mills, Hawaiian QB, Martell, or (gulp) Hockman. Please no Hockman unless he blows up this Summer.
