Alabama QB pledge Tagovailoa has 'it' factor
It's been a good year for Honolulu 4-star quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. An Elite 11 MVP, a U.S. Army All-American Bowl invitation and a state championship—the first for Saint Louis School since 2010, according to Brandi Higa of KITV—sit highly on his football resume. Not to mention that he finished his senior season as Hawaii's all-time high school passing leader, per Billy Hull of Hawaii Prep World.
Tagovailoa, who officially visited Alabama over the weekend, is now preparing for next-level competition. He sees what freshman Jalen Hurts is doing for Alabama, and it gives him hope to come in and show his worth.
"I don't think it's something amazing for me to hear [a] freshman is starting. It's more so just getting the opportunity to compete for a spot as Jalen did," Tagovailoa said. "Some college coaches don't play the best guy; they play the most experienced guy. Listening to [head coach Nick] Saban, he's going to play the best. That's what I like best."
Tagovailoa said he's excited about being in the same backfield as running back commit Najee Harris, the top-ranked player in the 2017 class. He also said he's hoping to add one wide receiver to an already-loaded class.
"I think Devonta Smith is going to make his decision on signing day," Tagovailoa said. "The first time I met him was at Coach Saban's NSFC Camp. He's a great person, not only on the field, but off the field. I got time to fellowship with him during lunch breaks. He's just someone you want to surround yourself with."
The Alabama class is loaded with 5-star and 4-star athletes, but Elite 11 coach Matt James believes Tagovailoa is a special type of player who can be the leader among a large group of alpha dogs.
"As a leader, he has that 'it' factor. There's something about him where kids—and even coaches—gravitate to him," James said. "We saw him early at All Poly camps in junior high going into high school. We knew then there was something special with him. We just felt he needed to be honed and polished.
"If all things work out, he should be a very successful player, not only for what he does on the field, but for who he is off the field. With a kid like that, it's easy to go on and on about him."

Pruitt visited with Aubrey Solomon this morning.
I hope it pays off. This kid is a stud.

Hank thinks Jarez Parks will be the last LB to join our class.
I guess that's a no-go on Monty Rice filling Bateman's spot.

Just saw a thread on BOL about Buggs saying that the LSU mods seem to think we lead for him. Would be huge if we could land him!

I really like this kid and think he gonna be a pleasant surprise in this class.
I think his brother was a all Sec player for Fla.
Look for him to shock people like Diggs did this year.

Alabama head coach Nick Saban is expected to make his way out west today to see five-star running back and Tide commit Najee Harris.
The Antioch (Calif.) product is back home after a few days in New York on the U.S. Army All-American Player of the Year tour.
Yesterday Bleacher Report reported that Harris planned to take all five official visits. A trip to Michigan is still on the schedule for this weekend, leaving two visits left to fit in sometime before midnight on Sunday when the dead period kicks in.
While in the Bay Area, Saban is expected to see the nation's top junior college tackle and Alabama commit Elliot Baker. The City College of San Francisco product is expected to officially visit Georgia this weekend. He officially visited Tuscaloosa for the Iron Bowl where he reaffirmed he was 100 percent committed to Alabama and plans to enroll early.

Does this mean the ship has sailed on Hunter and Stevens?

The ship has definitely sailed on Stevens, but after watching him live this season I'm not sure he's a pure Safety. He's fricking huge.

I just hope we land Shaun Wade. This is a weak CB class across the board so landing him would be awesome.
Next year's class has the potential to be the best group of corners I've ever seen so hopefully we can load up on them like this year's LB and OL class.

So here's something I haven't seen before regarding Marvin Wilson. Since Bo Davis was his lead recruiter and was let go for recruiting violations, our staff cannot visit Wilson until 2016 is over. So January 1st is the first day we can really start recruiting him.

Looks like Adonis Thomas is gonna end up at Florida State.

We make fun of LSU fans for being delusional. They have delusional players too

"We were close," said White, a Thorpe Award finalist. "Not close enough. I felt like we played well enough to win the game. Things just didn't go our way. Alabama's a great team. I feel like we're a great team too. I feel like we matched up well against them. I wouldn't say ... I don't believe in moral victories or nothing like that. "Honestly, I feel like we were the better club than they was. But they got the win, so that's that."

Yep. That's why I was saying things between he and us would heat up in January. The staff didn't want this information to become public. They're afraid it might affect the recruitment.
