Jedrick Wills
The Situation: Wills has been a five-star for more than a year and schools rolled out the red carpet for him at several different campus visits over the summer. Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama and Kentucky have hosted Wills and he's spoken highly of each visit along the way. He's also rumored to be close to making a decision and an announcement may come sometime in the next month.
The Frontrunner: Alabama
After visiting the Tide last month, rumors were quickly floated that he had actually committed on the trip. However, a few weeks have gone by with Wills remaining mostly silent and Tide fans getting a little anxious. Regardless of speculation, Wills left Tuscaloosa with the Tide as his leader and they still sit in a great place to land his commitment.
The Other Option: Kentucky
The Wildcats were long thought the favorites to land Wills, mainly because of his countless visits to campus and his relationships with several current members of the Wildcats teams. But as he has continued to explore his options, Kentucky has taken a back seat to the Tide. Things could change with a successful season on the field, especially if Wills former teammate and close friend Landon Young earns early playing time as a freshman.
Bud Don't Count Out: Notre Dame
The Irish were once the dream offer Wills coveted and he has visited South Bend several times over the past two years. His family has also been enamored with Notre Dame's academic reputation and the program's storied history. The school has had success in Kentucky in recent years, but can they make up enough ground to steal Wills away? That remains a big question headed into the fall.

Just assume he wants to go out of state until you hear something extremely legit. Nobody wants to sound like a douchy L5U fan.

The word around is that he wants to commit and that UA is slow playing him at the moment. Either we have him in a holding pattern waiting to see what some others are doing and/or we are trying to figure out our numbers. It sounds like he wants to commit prior to his season starting.

He may also being sold on playing both sides of the ball. He plays some WR and at 6'4 he very athletic.

Yeah Bone did say he couldn't commit at the moment.

Cowan’s comments should help Alabama fans relax
As I have written about the past few days, VanDarius Cowan, a 4-star Alabama commit, changed his mind and has decided to take all five official visits.
This fall, Cowan will visit Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Southern California and Ohio State. The Buckeyes trip should be an interesting one. Cowan told me at The Opening last month the main difference between Alabama’s commits and Ohio State’s was big. When asked if he thought Alabama would get the No. 1 class over Ohio State, Cowan responded quickly.
“That’s ranked off of all those stars and junk, but we’re talking about Alabama having goons and savages in this class,” Cowan said at the time. “I’m talking about boys who want to play and give it their all. I’m telling you all of my boys that are committed are savages. We are straight dogs.”
Now, he’s going to Columbus, and I’m sure his comment will be brought up by someone on that visit. But what’s interesting about Cowan’s trip to Ohio State is what our own Jeremy Birmingham reported on our Big 10 site, Land of 10.
According to Birmingham, Cowan has been reaching out to Ohio State himself so he can check out the campus. Like he says in pretty much every interview though, he’s not flipping, so these trips should not be a concern for Alabama fans.
“I’m 150-percent committed to Roll Tide. I’m just taking visits checking out places because you only get one chance to (experience this),” Cowan told Birmingham. “I want to visit Ohio State. Chase Young told me it’s great up there and after talking to coach Luke Fickell, he also would like to get me on campus. Just hearing about that school over the years makes me want to visit.”
Young was a big Alabama linebacker target, but ended up committing to Ohio State. Cowan spent a lot of time with Young when he visited Alabama. It’s one of the main reasons why he wants to check out Columbus.
“The fact that he was with me his whole visit at Bama,” Cowan said when asked exactly what Young said or did that piqued his interest in the Buckeyes. “Then committed to Ohio State the next day.”
It’s always a little nerve-racking as a fan to see one of your top commits visit other schools, but it would be a giant shock if Cowan doesn’t play his college football at Alabama.

Top Alabama target has Georgia on top
I have not mentioned Nate McBride recently for Alabama. He’s definitely near the top of the wish list for the Crimson Tide staff and for good reason, too.
McBride, a 4-star linebacker from Vidalia (Ga.) High School, is one of the most athletic football players in the country. At 220 pounds, McBride has been timed in the 100-meter dash in 10.5 seconds. That’s faster than former Alabama commit, and now California freshman wide receiver, Demetris Robertson, who was considered one of the fastest players in the Class of 2016.
There’s a reason why I haven’t mentioned McBride and Alabama much though. Though he’s at the top of the wish list, it’s highly unlikely he ends up in a Crimson Tide jersey come 2017.
The Army All-American was likely going to commit to Georgia when Mark Richt was the coach, and now that Kirby Smart is in Athens, the Bulldogs’ chances are better. McBride is also great friends with Georgia quarterback commit Jake Fromm. He was one of a few people to know a few weeks before Fromm flipped from Alabama to Georgia that he was going to make that decision.
What Jason McBride, Nate’s father, said Tuesday was one of the worst-kept secrets in this recruiting class.
“Georgia is definitely at the top,” McBride’s father told Anthony Dasher ofUGASports.com. “There’s a good relationship with Kirby Smart, Coach (Glenn) Schumann, Coach (Kevin) Sherrer … all the coaches.”
Alabama is going to continue recruiting McBride, but I don’t see the Crimson Tide gaining his commitment regardless of how hard they recruit him.

One of Northeast’s top players thinks it would be hard to turn down Alabama?
Dorian Hardy is surely on the early watch list for recruits to end up in Alabama’s Class of 2018.
The nation’s No. 7 defensive end from St. Joseph Regional High School (Montvale, N.J.) is a big-time Alabama fan. Not only is he a fan of the Crimson Tide, but his family is, too. It’s one of the main reasons why Alabama is currently one of his top schools.
“I mean Alabama is a great school that I’ve been watching and looking up to since being a little kid,” Hardy told SEC Country. “They are definitely near the top of my favorite schools list for sure because growing up they were my favorite team and just the SEC is great.”
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound prospect has not visited his favorite school just yet, but plans are currently being made for him to see the campus. He has already discussed possibly visiting Alabama during his high school’s bye week, which is on Sept. 24. Alabama hosts Kent State that weekend.
Hardy has been in contact with his primary recruiter at Alabama, offensive line coach Mario Cristobal, and the assistant has made it clear to him that he’s one of the team’s top priorities in his recruiting class.
“He just told me I’m a hell of a player and that they want me to get down there soon so I can get comfortable and familiar with the coaching staff and facilities,” Hardy said. “I just need to get down to the school and see with my own eyes the things they have to offer, which I know from other student-athletes, and my own knowledge of college football, is out of this world.”
If the 4-star prospect does end up visiting, he thinks if the staff pressed for his commitment, it may be hard to turn down the school he grew up rooting for.
“I mean it would be hard but I still want to weigh all my options and see what school is best for me,” Hardy said.
The state of New Jersey’s No. 5 prospect in 2018 is also considering Florida, LSU, Clemson, Miami and Rutgers, among others.

Isaiah Wilson
The Situation: Wilson has taken a methodical approach to the recruiting process and is gearing up for official visit season. He recently took unofficial visits to Georgia, Alabama and Michigan but is set on committing later in the process. He has official visits set to Florida State (Nov. 11), Michigan (Nov. 19), and Alabama (Nov. 25) but is going to schedule official visits to Georgia and USC during basketball season.
The Frontrunner: Alabama
The Crimson Tide continue to lead Wilson’s recruitment and it doesn’t look like they will give up their stranglehold on the top spot any time soon. A recent multi-day unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa went a long way toward Alabama really putting itself in front.
The Other Option: Michigan
The Wolverines were the early leader for Wilson and they are still major contenders for him. He had a great time in Ann Arbor over the weekend for the BBQ and still has very good relationships with the coaches and players at Michigan.
But Don’t Count Out: Georgia
The Bulldogs made a big surge earlier this offseason after a great experience at a camp in Athens. Wilson enjoyed bonding with the coaches and felt like it could be a good fit for him.

Devon Hunter
The Situation: Plenty of schools have hosted Hunter this summer as he tries to narrow down his list of top schools. He plans on committing just before Christmas but will take official visits before committing. Auburn, North Carolina, Alabama, Florida State, Florida are involved.
The Frontrunner: Florida
The Gators have a lot going for them with Hunter, but nothing had more of an impact than adding Torrian Gray to the coaching staff. Hunter built a strong relationship with him when he was the defensive backs coach at Virginia Tech and that has carried over. The Gators have hosted Hunter a few times and they will likely get an official visit from Hunter.
The Other Option: Virginia Tech
Hunter grew up a fan of Virginia Tech and many of its famous alumni have been trying to recruit him to join the family. If Virginia Tech performs well this season it could overtake Florida and land Hunter’s commitment.
But Don’t Count Out: North Carolina
North Carolina has been gaining a lot of momentum with Hunter over the past month or so. He visited Chapel Hill three times over the last couple weeks and the coaching staff has done a good job building a strong relationship relatively quickly. Look for the Tar Heels to be a contender with Hunter until National Signing Day.
We need to make him a priority.

Anthony McFarland
The Situation: Georgia was McFarland’s favorite school early in his recruitment but that quickly changed once the coaching staff moves took place. Maryland, Alabama and Miami are battling for McFarland’s commitment, which will come at the Under Armour All-America Game or on National Signing Day.
The Frontrunner: Maryland
The Terps are slightly edging out Alabama right now and it is purely because of the relationships McFarland has with the current players and coaches in College Park. McFarland needs to figure out how exactly Maryland would use him in its offense before feeling comfortable enough to sign.
The Other Option: Alabama
McFarland knows exactly how Alabama would use him in its offense and has seen players have success in that role in the past. He also trusts the coaching staff but doesn’t have as many strong relationships in Tuscaloosa as he does at Maryland.
But Don’t count Out: Miami
Mark Richt and Thomas Brown are two of McFarland’s favorite coaches. They have to convince McFarland that he could be comfortable in Miami and have a lot of success there before he signs.

Jerry Jeudy, Rivals100 wide receiver from Deerfield Beach High School in Florida, announced his commitment to Alabama less than two weeks ago. He spoke more of his decision.
"I've known since the first time visiting," Jeudy told Rivals.com. "Every time I went up there it felt like home. I've seen everything I needed to see. I just put the icing on the cake by making it official."
Jeudy played alongside Alabama star sophomore wide receiver Calvin Ridley at Monarch High School when he was a freshman and sophomore. The two have remained close friends throughout the last two years.
"It helps a lot," he said when asked of having Ridley in Tuscaloosa. "He will teach me the way he did it when he got there. He'll show me the way he went through college.
"I told him on the last visit I was going to Alabama. He told me to make sure it's the right choice for me. I told him it was. He was like let's make it happen."
What kind of role does Jeudy expect to play early in his career in Tuscaloosa?
"The coaches are telling me I will have one year with Ridley," Jeudy said. "Then I will have the opportunity to take his spot when he leaves."
Jeudy is still heavily pursued by several programs including Florida, Florida State, Miami and Georgia. He has yet to decide if he will take any additional visits.

I'm hearing that Bama LB commit Martial Benton recently reached out to the Tigers.
Now, don't get too excited ...
I don't really know the topic of his communications. It very well could just Benton being friendly. He is a very nice young man. And he has friends at Auburn. But that is the first time either side has contacted the other since he committed to the Tide.

Two more CBs for Hamsah Nasirildeen to USCe, including one from Barton Simmons.
