Herring has Alabama in top 5
Malik Herring took multiple pictures with Georgia commitments at The Opening, yet he remains uncommitted. He is in a group chat with other Georgia commitments and those who are strongly considering the Bulldogs — a chat that 5-star Alabama target JaCoby Stevens once actively participated in.
Herring visited Alabama this weekend, and he released his five finalists Monday. The Crimson Tide did make the cut, but like Webb, Herring is most likely Georgia bound. He will not say the Bulldogs are the favorite, but look at what he told Jeff Sentell two weeks ago.
“I already had that gut feeling as soon as he took the Georgia job he was going to bring in that No. 1 class,” Herring said. “That’s Kirby. When you know Kirby well and see all the talent in the state of Georgia, you could really see all that coming.”
He routinely videobombed recruits that were strongly considering Georgia at The Opening and yell “Dawg” behind them. Sentell labeled Herring as the “most uncommitted committed” prospect. That’s a fair label for Herring. He’s Georgia bound.
He’ll announce his commitment Aug. 25.

Note on big-time target
Jarez Parks, a 4-star defensive end from Sebastian (Fla.) River High School, rarely talks to the media, and when he does, he doesn’t offer up many clues to his recruitment.
But a source close to Parks told SEC Country on Monday night that Alabama should be considered the team to beat at the moment for the nation’s No. 4 defensive end. Parks visited Tuscaloosa this past weekend and nearly pulled the trigger on a commitment. Though Parks is listed at defensive end, he is being recruited at JACK, which is a hybrid of defensive end and outside linebacker.
He is one to watch moving forward.

Most athletes do not look like regular people. Through their time working out in gyms and outdoors they tend to have more chiseled bodies than the rest of us. Alabama linebacker commit Gary Johnson confirmed that thought.
Johnson, the nation’s No. 1 JUCO linebacker and a 4-star recruit for the class of 2017, showed off what Alabama will be getting as he posted a picture to his Twitter account.
Johnson is listed at 6-foot-1 and 225-pounds. He is originally from Birmingham, Alabama and will be playing at Dodge City Community College in Kansas this season. Johnson is one of the three linebacker commits for the Crimson Tide, joining fellow 4-stars VanDarius Cowan and Markail Benton. Benton and Cowan are listed as outside linebackers, while Johnson is listed on the inside.
Alabama regained the top spot in the SEC recruiting rankings following two commitments this weekend. The Crimson Tide have the No. 2 class overall, behind Ohio State for the class of 2017.

I was just saying in general how a person can get free good info regarding recruiting than what you get on BOL. I look forward to these that you post.

Well to be honest, BOL has kinda slacked off on getting "exclusive" info. When Shane and Charles left they took a lot of sources with them.

One onlooker at Alabama's recent OL/DL camp had this to share with AL.com about Brannon:
"I do believe he is better that he is rated by services currently at 3-star and 2-star by another service. He had a very competitive spirit about himself, unafraid of all comers. Coaches put all their best (defensive line) talent there, including (LaBryan) Ray, who plays DL from (James Clemens), who I think is No. 1 player in Alabama. It didn't matter to Brannon, he battled them all, and held them from the target, except one rep that a smaller DL slipped past him but was playing more defensive tackle than nose guard. Coaches hollered to do it again, and the next rep, Brannon closed lined him to the ground upsetting the opponent obviously. It might have been a penalty, but gives you the kind of tenacity Brannon demonstrated. Nobody lined up as a nose guard and defeated him. He showed great leverage from his backside, playing with good leg and back power, seldom backing up more than a step or two, not near the target. I commend Coach Saban for recognizing his talent, and competitiveness, offering a scholarship soon after their session was over, and rating did not affect him at all. It was great evaluation in my opinion. Brannon is a legitimate talent, especially at center position I believe. I do not believe it was a one-time occurrence either. I knew his uncles Wes Britt, and Justin Britt, and at the same age, Brannon is a more physically developed talent than either of them were, when I saw them right after their senior year. Look for other scout services to look at Brannon a lot closer, and the rating of him as a prospect to improve, not that it is necessary."

That always happens. We sign some rando and insiders come out of the woodwork swearing they're Jim Thorpe

This sounds great and all, but it's also highly fricking inaccurate. LaBryan Ray wasn't even at the camp this past week.

It has been stated in the past that Alabama and Florida were the top two in the recruitment of Concord (N.C.) safety Hamsah Nasirildeen. After gathering intel this weekend, I’m not completely convinced that is accurate. The Crimson Tide being so far from home and not playing road games near North Carolina is a bit concerning for the family. It was noted the family does like that most of Florida’s road games happen to be closer to North Carolina.

— Top-100 defensive end LaBryan Ray has been considered a lock to Alabama for much of the cycle. While the smart money is still likely on the Crimson Tide, it does not appear to be a done deal yet. Ray has not visited Tuscaloosa in a while, but was in Gainesville over the weekend. He said he will take an official visit to Florida in the fall and plans to release a top six shortly.
I don't know what crack that Al.com guy is smoking.

One of the Bleacher Report guys CB'd Ryan Johnson to Auburn.

We got another CB for Elijah Conliffe.
Does anyone else feel that Conliffe may take Johnson's spot?

Defensive tackle Marvin Wilson (Bellaire, Tex./Episcopal) visited USC last Wednesday and exited extremely impressed with the Trojans.
"The trip was absolutely amazing," Wilson said.
Wilson spent time checking out southern California, seeing the city and meeting with the USC staff.
"I never have been to (Los Angeles) before," Wilson said. "I was just blown away by everything."
You name it, Wilson liked it.
"The city, the campus and the facilities," Wilson said. "It just caught me off guard. The visit left a huge impression on me."
