I doubt it. Cowan and Benton are our ILB's. We are going after Chris Allen And that's might be it.

FWIW, an "insider" on BOL said weeks ago the staff had moved Chase Young over Beal on the board. I don't know if that is true or not, but Beal news had kinda dried up from our recruiting sites since April.

Every year, SEC schools have marquee members of their recruiting classes. Sometimes it might not be the highest ranked overall player, but rather the guy that is constantly rallying the class to help bring in other talent. The class “alpha” is also usually a fan favorite. The players' ability to beat the drum for their school essentially makes them an extension of the coaching staff. In this week’s breakdown, we take a look at the current star of each SEC school’s class.

Mac Jones
What makes him special: Jones hasn’t been in the Tide’s class for long, but he quickly has worked his way to top dog status. Prospects from the Southeast have known Jones for years and those relationships are already starting to pay dividends behind the scenes for Alabama recruiting. By the time big visits roll around in the fall, Jones will be working hard to help add talent to the class.
Interesting they picked Jones over Leatherwood and Cowan.

Was this the same insider on BOL who said Bama lead for Young and I wasn't sure where he was getting that?

The Opening is a premier recruit showcase, but the event also indirectly serves as a feature for college football teams that have received verbal commitments from several top prospects.
In 2016, one program will have a stunning 10 representatives, while six others reached five. It shouldn't be a surprise that the eight teams highlighted are each ranked in the top 10 of the247Sports composite team rankings.
Plus, this list doesn't include uncommitted prospects or targeted players who are currently pledged elsewhere.
When we look back on The Opening 2016, the following teams will likely include even more members of the showcase roster.

ALABAMA
247Sports Composite Ranking: 2
Commits at The Opening: 7
It's fitting that Alabama—which is riding a streak of six straight No. 1 classes—boasts the top-ranked prospect in Beaverton.
Najee Harris committed to the Tide in April 2015. During the running back's last two high-school seasons, he's amassed a staggering 5,007 yards and scored 59 touchdowns. Fellow 5-star and offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood will join Harris.
Unsurprisingly, the remainder of Alabama's pledges are highly rated.
Tua Tagovailoa checks in as the second-best dual-threat quarterback, then VanDarius Cowan and Markail Benton are the Nos. 5 and 6 outside linebackers, respectively. Xavier McKinney stands as the 11th-ranked safety, and Tyrell Shavers is the No. 22 wide receiver.

Most of the elite high school football players in the country will converge on Nike’s headquarters in Beaverton, Ore., this week for the top recruiting camp in the country: The Opening.
Alabama will have seven commitments competing in the prestigious event plus more than 15 top targets. Alabama’s top uncommited targets include five 5-star prospects. Marvin Wilson and Dylan Moses are the top two players fans should be on the lookout for this weekend.
The competition will air Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on ESPNU, but if you don’t want to wait to find out how the Crimson Tide’s commits and major targets fared in the event, SEC Country will have live coverage all week from Oregon. Readers can expect lots of Alabama recruiting coverage from the camp.

Marvin Wilson, 5-star DT, Bellaire, Texas
Measurables: 6-foot-4, 329 pounds
High School: Episcopal
National Ranking:No. 1 defensive tackle, No. 1 prospect in the state of Texas
Skinny: Wilson is Alabama’s top target at defensive tackle, but the Crimson Tide have some work to do in order to land his services on National Signing Day. He was very close with former Crimson Tide defensive line coach Bo Davis before he resigned. Now, new Alabama DL coach Karl Dunbar needs to quickly form a relationship with Wilson in order for the Crimson Tide to have a chance. Alabama, LSU and Florida State are the top contenders here.

Dylan Moses, 5-star LB, Bradenton, Fla.
Measurables: 6-foot-2, 220 pounds
High School: IMG Academy
National Ranking:No. 1 outside linebacker, No. 1 recruit in the state of Florida
Skinny: At one point, Alabama led for Moses, who has held a scholarship offer from the Crimson Tide since his eighth grade year. Now, Texas is his leader, though most in the recruting industry, including myself, believe he will choose LSU this December. Moses is orginally from Baton Rouge, La., and he was once committed to the school. He’s extremely close with Les Miles, and if he remains the Tigers’ coach, Moses should be LSU bound. Alabama will host him on an official visit this October for the Kentucky game. That will be a very important trip for the Crimson Tide’s chances.

quote:
Baron Browning, 5-star LB, Kennedale, Texas
Measurables: 6-foot-3, 230 pounds
High School: Kennedale
National Ranking: No. 2 outside linebacker, No. 3 recruit in the state of Texas
Skinny: Browning has not visited Alabama in more than a year, so the Crimson Tide’s chances of landing him are slim. He is still a priority for the Alabama staff, but it remains to be seen if he’ll visit Tuscaloosa again. Texas, Ohio State and Michigan are the favorites.

Chase Young, 5-star DE, Hyattsville, Md.
Measurables: 6-foot-5, 225 pounds
High School: DeMatha Catholic
National Ranking: No. 3 defensive end, No. 1 recruit in the state of Maryland
Skinny: Young will visit Alabama on July 17 for the team’s summer camp. Alabama has a lot of work here if it wishes to add Young to the 2017 class. Maryland and Ohio State are the favorites.

quote:
Tyler Shelvin, 5-star DT, Lafayette, La.
Measurables: 6-foot-2, 329 pounds
High School: Notre Dame
National Ranking:No. 2 defensive tackle, No. 1 recruit in the state of Louisiana
Skinny: Shelvin certainly did not come across as a recruit who was 100 percent committed to his school of choice when I last talked to him in April. The 5-star DT has been committed to LSU since March 2015, but he has kept his options open. Alabama was certainly in the mix before Bo Davis resigned, but now Karl Dunbar has some work to do.

quote:
Jerry Jeudy, 4-star WR, Pompano Beach, Fla.
Measurables: 6-foot-1, 180 pounds
High School: Deerfield Beach
National Ranking: No. 7 wide receiver, No. 11 recruit in the state of Florida
Skinny: Jeudy is one of Alabama’s top wide receiver targets, and the Crimson Tide is thought to be the favorite to land him when he makes his decision. He’s very good friends with Calvin Ridley, and that should help Alabama’s chances.
Posted on 7/5/16 at 1:11 pm to TideSaint
quote:
Anthony McFarland, 4-star RB, Hyattsville, Md.
Measurables: 5-foot-8, 186 pounds
High School: DeMatha Catholic
National Ranking: No. 4 all-purpose running back, No. 2 recruit in the state of Maryland
Skinny: Alabama already has two running back commits, but it would take a third. McFarland would be the likely choice. He recently visited Tuscaloosa and named Maryland and Alabama as his co-leaders.

quote:
Trey Smith, 4-star OT, Jackson, Tenn.
Measurables: 6-foot-6, 299 pounds
High School: University of Jackson
National Ranking: No. 9 offensive tackle, No. 3 recruit in the state of Tennessee
Skinny: Smith grew up an Alabama fan, and he remains a big-time target for the Crimson Tide. Alabama already has two offensive tackle commits in the 2017 class in 5-star talent Alex Leatherwood and the nation’s No. 1 junior college lineman Elliot Baker. Even with Leatherwood and Baker on board, Smith would be welcomed.

quote:
LaBryan Ray, 4-star DE, Madison, Ala.
Measurables: 6-foot-5, 283 pounds
High School: James Clemens
National Ranking:No. 5 defensive end, No. 4 recruit in the state of Alabama
Skinny: Ray is one of Alabama’s top targets on the defensive line. He has visited Tuscaloosa several times, and it would be a big surprise if he ended up anywhere other than with the Crimson Tide when he makes a decision.

Jeff Thomas, 4-star WR, East St. Louis, Ill.
Measurables: 5-foot-10, 170 pounds
High School: East Saint Louis
National Ranking: No. 9 wide receiver, No. 2 recruit in the state of Illinois
Skinny: Thomas tried to commit to Alabama a few weeks ago, but his commitment was denied. He has some academic work he needs to get through before the Crimson Tide will call him a commit. If he gets his academics in line, it’s remains very possible Thomas will end up at Alabama.
