According to BOL, Bama is Surging for Ath Jacoby Stevens and LB Jacob Philips both out of Nashville. Both are considered priorities.

I'll add that two different people are saying two different things on our numbers situation at WR this year. One guy is saying 4. The other is saying 5-6, and that Nico Collins is still a very large priority. So as is usual with recruiting, probably only Saban REALLY knows what's going on.

I'm guessing we want Stevens as a Safety? I think Phillips won the Linebacker MVP at the Rivals 5-Star Challenge.

Jacob Phillips

The Latest: Rivals250 linebacker Jacob Phillips recently moved up quite a bit in the Rivals rankings and now it appears that the nation's No. 109 overall player's stock is on the rise with college coaches as well. Just two days after taking home linebacker MVP honors at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge presented by Under Armour, Phillips picked up an offer from LSU. The Tigers quickly jump in a mix of schools, including Alabama, Oklahoma, Oregon, Notre Dame and Texas A&M. Phillips recently named seven schools as his favorites, but appears to be still interested in exploring all his options.

In His Words: "I am blessed to receive the offer. I am always excited anytime an SEC school offers me, especially with the caliber of LSU. I also really like that they have a tradition of sending guys from their program to the NFL. There is a strong possibility that I will visit. I already have a obligations to visit a few schools but I hope I can get down to LSU sometime this summer."

Yeah I went back and looked at the Rivals' Challenge coverage. Here are a couple of things from Mike Farrell on Phillips:

quote:

I think linebacker Jacob Phillips, the MVP at his position, is making a case for the Rivals100

quote:

Jacob Phillips, for a big linebacker, has very light feet

quote:

While linebacker may be the most difficult position to play during 1-on-1s, Phillips found a way to impress. He was the most physical linebacker during the morning session, while also using his athleticism to cover extremely well in space. He was able to dominate most reps during the tight ends and more than held his own against a very athletic running back group.

Kiffin is also supposedly the point man for both guys, which is really telling for a couple of guys that are defensive targets.

Has Lane taken Kirby's place as Saban's most trusted assistant with all the other staff changes that took place this offseason? Kiffin is putting in major work on the trail...

I'm not sure if he's an insider or whatever, but normally what he posts is legit.

Haven't seen as many commitment 'recruiters' in an #Alabama class as much as I've seen in 2017. @vandarius98, @macjones2017 @Alskee_

Alskee is Leatherwood.
