I'm not sure. The coach that the info comes from is a notoriously harsh critic, though. He has plenty of time. We do really need some of the ILBs not named Reuben, Evans, or SDH to have good Fall camps and make the next step forward, though. Holcombe has the ability. Hopefully he starts to put it all together.

I know you have a lot of faith in Orr, BamaK, etc. but other than film and the all-star games, where are they getting this new information? None of the guys you mentioned have even participated in one college practice.

Ben Davis was labeled as one of the most physical defenders in the country by multiple recruiting analysts and he was lighting people up at the AL-MS practices and game. How are people labeling him soft now without having any seen him on the field since January?

I see the 2016 preview magazines have hit the shelves.

Alabama is ranked #1 by Athlon and the Sporting News.

I usually buy mine in June. It's my yearly migration to the book store.

I agree with you on this. Nothing I've seen from Davis leads me to believe he is soft. As a matter of fact, it's the complete opposite. From his highlight tapes and watching him live he was lighting people up!Looks to have tremendous instincts, and physically ready to play now. Not saying he will play this year, but next year he will have a good chance. I do agree with 3714, that Wilson needs to mature some.

Wilson hurt his shoulder literally within the first five plays of the AL-MS game and continued to play.

Kid's tough.

No, but Holcombe just went 0-4 in the baseball game tonight.

Oh, I'm not questioning his toughness. If you saw his twitter last year, and from what I've heard he goes to a Bama practice with the same attitude/bighead, he's going to get checked real quicked. But to his defense, I know most 18 yr olds have maturity problems. I would hate to see what my twitter would have looked like when I was 18.lol I probably would have been kicked off. That's the only negative thing I've heard about him. He's a really good kid, just needs to grow up a little bit.

He's running 3rd team is the only thing that anybody is saying. He is from my hometown so I'm rooting for him!

The newest stuff (about Quinnen, Mayden, and Terrell Hall) is from redfish (Pruitt). It's just evaluations. The stuff about Davis is from several high school coaches. There have been a long list of guys who were either labeled as soft or having a low motor that turned out great. Rolando McClain only played when he wanted to in high school. Same with A'Shawn. Who knows? I expect him to have a nice NFL career one day, though, whether he's a player as a freshman or takes the Reuben Foster path.

I will say that there is concern about the front 7 going into 2017 just simply based on who was on campus this Spring. We'll have to rely on a lot of young guys unless several guys develop a lot. There are a few guys considered reliable. Payne, Hand (if he doesn't blow up this year and go pro), Jennings (projected), Evans, SDH (but a bit marginally talented). Christian Miller has to get a LOT more physical. Hopefully he takes the Tim Williams path, though, because he's a great pass rusher. The secondary should be flat out nasty for the next few years.

Terrell Hall will be a top 10-15 pick when he leaves, that's how high I am on him. He will start next year. I'm also really high on Mayden and Williams. Mayden I think will be a stud safety! He could play corner too, but think he ends up at safety. Williams just needs to gain some weight obviously. I love his quickness. He really showed me a lot in alabama/miss all star game. The biggest steal of the class is Aaron Robinson. How they ranked him a 3 star is beyond me. Watch his film. He can play press, man, and come up in run support and light your tail up! Another guy that could play corner or safety.

Hard to believe this psuedo-insider routine is still going on months later. It's just a little bit annoying as someone who tries to sift through all the chatter in this thread for actual information. Just a little bit.

I don't doubt he reads the opinions he keeps posting as facts on some other message board somewhere. I dont doubt any of that. But the leap he makes so easily to pass it off as objective fact, with this arrogant certainty, day after day, month after month, aggressively posting paragraphs at any person who points out the obvious limitations of this kind of inane chatter...just unbelievable. Gotta be a kid. Only explanation.

I'm sure he'll have another defensive response to this and others will step in in his defense as well but it needs to be said tbh. for the sake of those us who come here for actual information and recruiting updates and not this stupid dick measuring contest, please dial it back. Thanks in advance.

You all know I watch a lot of film, it comes with the hobby of following recruiting. Most of you also know that quarterbacks are my favorite position to critique and I don't have much insight in regards to other positions, but I watched a kid's highlights when we offered last month and it stuck with me.

He's a 3-star jumbo Athlete out of Tennessee and I really, really hope we land him. Here are his links:

LaTrell Bumphus Highlights

Am I wrong in thinking he could be a beast at either DE or TE?

Saban always tries to get the best players on the field. Next year at linebacker that will be Johnson, Davis, Evans and Miller. Johnson and Davis at inside linebacker and Evans and Miller on the outside. If it wasn't for Anderson and Williams on the outside this year, Evans would still be playing on the outside.

While I see what you are saying and it makes sense and id be all for Davis and Johnson in be middle with Evans and Miller on the outside, it's just going to depend on if SDH is a starter in 2016 and 2017. He will likely be the LB next to Foster when we play LSU and Arkansas. But when we play everyone else, my bet is Evans will be.
