Looks like he'll be down in a few weeks. I guess when everyone else reports for Summer classes.

Damn, was hoping he was already on campus, doing some off-season workouts with the QBs. I started my summer class on the 9th, so was wondering if he was here yet.

So excited about this receiving core. You can even throw in guys like Kief and Hentges, who had excellent spring games, that will make an impact this fall.

I saw somewhere that Saban is finally letting Kiffin hit the road recruiting. I know Kiffin probably had a hand in recruiting Barnett and Hurts, but why hasn't Saban let Kiffin fully recruit until now? He is only one of the best recruiters in the country.

That's what I've wondered. You didn't hear much about Kiffin being involved until now. When he was hired, I expected to hear a lot about his recruiting in states like Florida and California.

Since the NCAA reversed its rule that prohibited schools from holding satellite camps, Alabama head coach Nick Saban announced the Crimson Tide will participate in college football’s latest craze on “a limited basis.”

But Alabama and some members of its coaching staff may be heading straight to the source of the madness that is satellite camps, to the state of Michigan, if SoundMind SoundBody’s tweet on Tuesday, May 10, is accurate.

SMSB’s Detroit Midwest Regional Academy will take place June 9-10 at Wayne State University and will welcome more than 100 college coaches to Detroit, including Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame and Kentucky.

Alabama has not confirmed its involvement in this satellite camp or any camp, although it has already been linked to at least one -- Samford’s Mega Prospect Camp, which the Tide look to be taking part in on June 11.

Welp. Let's see how much Harbaugh likes us in his back yard.

The No. 3 QB in Alabama, Jacob Free, is hearing from the nation's best this spring

Brantley (Ala.) High School doesn't produce the most FBS athletes in Alabama but it has been a frequent stop for top programs this spring because of two-sport standout Jacob Free. The pitcher and shortstop on the baseball team, who has the Bulldogs streaking towards a state title shot, is also the rising-senior quarterback with double-digit scholarship offers.

Among the offers, ACC program Louisville may be in the best shape to land him today. However, the landscape atop his list could change in a hurry. Alabama and Florida State have long recruited the three-star, tabbed as the No. 3 QB in the state at this time. Free has been to Tuscaloosa and Tallahassee a number of times despite each program having a quarterback already committed. Perhaps one, or both, is seriously considering Free as a potential second passer in the class of 2017. Each recent national champion has recently been by Brantley High of late to check in on the junior who accounted for more than 40 touchdowns in 2015.

The newest program to express interest, per Brantley Head Coach Ashley Kilcrease, is another recently in the title game -- Oregon. The Ducks lost four-star quarterback commitment Ryan Kelley just last week. It began touching base with Free's camp on Sunday in what could be a trend to keep an eye on as Mark Helfrich's staff is soon expected in Brantley. The Louiscille Cardinals could return as may Mississippi, which has been in touch. Vanderbilt and Duke have also been by this spring.

And then there is baseball. Should Free elect to continue his dual-sport status at the next level, it has been made possible at a handful of programs. Troy, South Alabama, Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic and Jacksonville State have baseball offers in to the senior-to-be in addition to the football extensions he already possessed from each program.

No. 15 WR Tarik Black has twist with top five of Notre Dame, Pac-12, SEC, Big Ten

Tarik Black, the No. 15 receiver in the nation, plans to make his college decision in the next few months, but it could be an interesting fall since he does not plan on announcing until January. The 6-foot-3 1/2, 206-pound Black has a top five, and he also mixed in a trip to Auburn on Friday because his brother goes to school nearby an the Tigers were pushing for a visit.

"My top five is Alabama, Notre Dame, Stanford, Michigan and UCLA," Black said. "Basically, those schools are my top five because I feel that they can put me in the best position possible and develop me as a man academically, and also athletically. That’s why they are my top five."
"What’s important to me?" Black said. "Family atmosphere, playing time, developing into the receiver I want to be and the man I want to be. I just want to have a good career. "I want to decide before my senior season. I’ll probably do a silent commit, and then announce at the Army All-American game."

Black said distance is not an issue, and he made a trip to California to check on a pair of schools.
...
Receiver development is huge to Black, and he sees a lot of it at Alabama and Notre Dame.
"Alabama, it’s a great football program," he said. "I don’t know how many times they were national champs, but it’s a lot. They develop their receivers, as you can see with Amari Cooper, Calvin Ridley. If I want to be developed into the receiver I want to be, Alabama could be a place."

Robert Beal reconsidering Notre Dame

Notre Dame is back in the running for four-star defensive end Robert Beal, but who must the Irish beat to retake the former commitment?

Defensive end recruiting just took a turn for the better.
After suffering a de-commitment from eighth-ranked defensive end Robert Beal in February, Irish Illustrated has learned Beal is once again considering Notre Dame and will be on campus for Irish Invasion on June 17.

The Norcross (Ga.) native committed to Notre Dame last November. A de-commitment followed in February for reasons related to Beal’s older sister, Skyla Beal, who did not gain admission to the University.Per sources, Beal’s family has reached the conclusion that Beal attending the same college as his sister is no longer something the family will actively pursue. That puts Notre Dame back in the mix.

Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and Texas comprise Beal’s top group, per a source. North Carolina, Notre Dame and Tennessee make up his second tier of options.
Multiple sources have confirmed to Irish Illustrated that Beal will transfer to IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla. in June. Notre Dame signed mid-year enrollee Spencer Perry and running back Tony Jones Jr. from IMG in 2016. Brian VanGorder is the lead recruiter for Notre Dame in Beal’s recruitment. Beal’s grandmother resides in South Bend.

LINK I think we could help his sister get admitted to UA.

Versatile Central-Phenix City LB Markail Benton says recruitment is 'wide open'

Given Markail Benton's proximity to Auburn, his frequent visits to the Plains and the possibility of reuniting with former teammate John Broussard, many believe the Central-Phenix City linebacker is leaning the Tigers' way. Benton said that's not the case.

"I wouldn't say that," Benton told AL.com Monday, the first day of Central's spring practices. "Auburn's 30 minutes up the road, so why not take a visit? My recruitment's wide open. ... Right now I'm just taking everything slowly. I've got different schools coming in each day."

Benton's top six includes Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, LSU and South Carolina. Central coach Jamey Dubose played him at inside linebacker as a sophomore before moving him to the outside last season due to a lack of pass rushers. Benton is heading back inside this fall and is projected at either position at the college level.

"I hope his physicality has gotten better since his freshman and sophomore year now that he can take on those big blocks and play," Dubose said. "He's fast enough (against) these spread teams he can play on the perimeter and run things down outside. We're anxious to see what he can do by moving back inside. ... That's his versatility."

Benton spent his offseason working on speed, tackling and shedding blocks. As a senior, he is embracing his new role as a team leader.

...

MARKAIL BENTON
Recruiting skinny: Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, LSU, South Carolina make up Benton's top six
...
What's the biggest factor in his recruitment? "Just another family that I can leave from Central and go to another family."

* Lee-Montgomery receiver Henry Ruggs also wants to commit before the season, but didn't wish to talk about individual schools. He's a very good basketball talent - was a 7A Player of the Year finalist as a junior - but has SEC offers including Alabama and Auburn as a receiver.
