Prepare for the downvotes from all of the lurkers, as if that affects us in anyway.

I think we should have a decent dline haul this year. We can actually sell playing time particularly at DT.

His hands and ability to play the ball in the air are phenomenal. Also looks quick on defense. In the few clips he's asked to block toward the end of his highlight video, he looks good doing that as well. Would LOVE to get Derel Middleton from Oak Ridge, TN and him.

We've offered JUCO WR Riley Smith:

JUCO WR SMITH SURPRISED BY ‘BAMA OFFER
John Garcia Jr.John Garcia Jr.
Recruiting Analyst
Riley Smith has taken an unconventional route, but he’s emerging as a coveted wide receiver prospect at Ventura Community College in California. Alabama offered during the week and has expressed the desire to get the speedster on campus as soon as possible.

In the spring of 2012, Riley Smith was a small and speedy wideout looking for a chance to play college football. He says he nearly accepted a preferred walk-on opportunity at Boise State or Utah State, but stumbled academically down the stretch of his high school career amid family trouble.

Then, he was 5-foot-9 and an estimated 150 pounds. He took the following year off and worked to help the family out, in addition to focusing on his physique in the meantime.

Smith then enrolled at Ventura (Calif.) Community College the following January, looking to get back on track with both football and academics. After one season of play and a redshirt year in 2014, the 21-year-old now reports vitals of 5-foot-11, 192 pounds with double-digit scholarship offers.

Alabama, led by wide receivers coach Billy Napier, joined the party with a verbal scholarship offer this week.

“He was like, ‘we want to get you here ASAP, so get me your highlights as soon as possible because we’d like to offer you,’” he said of Napier. “Alabama likes my speed, he really likes my speed and athleticism. He asked me if I can really windmill a basketball. I sent him the video and told him about my 41-inch vertical. He says he likes the way I block, my character and how I am on and off the field.”

Smith says he also now sports a 3.0 cumulative GPA in his college courses and he’ll be able to enroll at a four-year institution in December or January. He’ll have two seasons to play two at the next level.

“It was a good character test, it humbled me a lot,” he said of the delayed process.
The Boise, Idaho native was taken back by the Crimson Tide offer, which was followed by Florida on Friday and preceded by plenty of programs, including Utah State, BYU, Cincinnati, South Alabama and many others.

"I was surprised, it was very humbling, but I can’t get too big-headed and whatnot,” Smith said. “But I have to finish strong. He’s (Napier) a great guy, I can tell you. He likes to coach his players to the best of his ability and I can tell he has great character about him. He cares about his players and recruits a lot, and that meant a lot to me.

“I know that they’ve gotten into the spread offense more with (offensive coordinator) Lane Kiffin there, now. They’re obviously a powerhouse and them moving to spread is a big interest in my part. And of course, their winning tradition is huge.”

Smith plans on taking visits during the summertime, possibly official visits, which could continue into the fall. He says he's looking for a program that balances academics and athletics well and also maintains that location isn’t a major factor in the decision-making process.

He seems like a really good kid. He tweeted a thank you at John Garcia after John wrote this article. That's refreshing in this day of attention whores.

Jaden Hunter says Alabama is still at the top for him, but he won't make a decision until the Army All-American game. His top five is Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, FSU, and LSU.

He attended Auburn's spring game, but said "It doesn't touch Alabama."

I know I have a lot of catching up to do with the thread over the next couple days updating the commitment list and offer links.

I'll also be quoting threads that were posted over the past week for hopefully further discussion.

And Chatta is right. I don't do Twitter.

Nice work in my absence.

Didn't have a committable offer from UF. They had concerns about his straight ahead speed.

CENTREVILLE, Va.-- Jaquan Yulee is on to the Opening this summer. The Chesapeake (Va.) Indian River linebacker was selected to go to the national combine after his performance in the Opening Regional at Centreville High. Yulee is planning to narrow his list down this summer, and four schools will definitely make the cut.

Jaquan Yulee is headed to The Opening in Oregon. The Chesapeake (Va.) Indian River linebacker was among the top performers in the regional held at Centreville High School, and earned the honor of moving on to the national event.

The four-star linebacker is being pursued by many college programs including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and many more. Yulee is preparing to trim his list in July, and he says four schools will make the cut: 'Bama, UNC, Virginia Tech and FSU.

According to Yulee, he was very disappointed he could not travel to Tuscaloosa for the Alabama spring game, but will definitely head down there soon.

Yulee talks about the Crimson Tide and his timeline with Scout in the video below.
