I really wish we had our NC celebration this weekend instead. Bringing in all the big fish for the last weekend would have had a bigger impact. Kids these days are influenced more and more by what they experience last

Please, let this happen. If we can pull Davis, Wilson, Mique and Hall, I'll be more than satisfied with whoever else we get.

Interesting interview with Mack Wilson's mother.

5-star’s mom on UGA vs. Alabama: ‘He’s got a good relationship with Kirby but he wants to win’

quote:

The nation’s No. 2 OLB abruptly dropped Florida from consideration prior to a scheduled official visit set for this weekend. According to his mother, the 6-foot-3, 236-pounder instead just played basketball this weekend for his perennially strong Carver-Montgomery (Montgomery, Ala.) High School team.

Sandra Wilson, his mother, said she feels her son is down to Alabama and UGA and that her son was really “undetermined” about that decision at this time.

Yet if there was such a thing as a recruiting point spread, Alabama would be favored by at least two scores. UGA only climbed into the picture with the hiring of Kirby Smart as head coach.

Is that relationship enough to pull Wilson out of state and into the Eastern Time Zone? His mother said there was one key advantage the Crimson Tide has on UGA. They discussed that on the drive back from his official visit in Athens, Ga., earlier this month.

“The comment he gave me was he’s got a good relationship with Kirby but he wants to win,” his mother said. “It is kind of hard to say because I really don’t know what direction he is going in for sure. But that was the comment he made.

Wilson said she felt that either way her son goes that he “would win.”

When Smart was hired in December, the five-star prospect immediately put UGA in his Top 3. He scheduled an official visit for the weekend of Jan. 15. Did that visit give UGA a fighting chance?

“It is a possibility,” Sandra Wilson said. “It all depends. He and Kirby do have a real good relationship. It is really his decision and I am just going to back him up wherever he decides to go as a mother because at the end of the day that’s his decision and what he has to do. That’s not me who has to live his life.”

Wilson said her son also enjoyed his official visit to Alabama on Jan. 22. He’s been going to that campus since his freshman year. Shaun Dion Hamilton, a highly-recruited high school teammate, is a sophomore linebacker for the Tide.

“I would say he would feel more comfortable with everyone there with all the players at Alabama but then at Georgia Kirby (Smart) is the only person over there I would say he’s really comfortable with,” Wilson said. “That’s a real big difference to me.”

Wilson said she did enjoy her visit to UGA, but nothing really caught her eye. At the end of the day, she’s more comfortable with him going to Alabama. That’s natural. That trip is only about 110 miles to the in-state campus. The commute to UGA is about 230 miles and it’s also in another time zone.

Yet she also repeated it would be her son’s decision. She’s enjoyed taking all these trips and experiencing things she’s never done before, but is also ready for this process to be over with.

“I’m ready to see where he is going to go, too,” Wilson said.

From weagle on the AU recruiting thread. Notes from 247:

quote:

-UT 247 mod still likes UT's chances with Warrior. AU 247's sources still think we're very much in it though. Still predicting UT however.

-AU loves Ben Davis. Thinks he would start day one. He was decked out in O&B this weekend and is tight with Steele. His dad being a Bama legacy is probably too much to overcome though.

-Still battling for Price and Dickerson. Price gave us the impression that it was a AU-USC battle but our staff believes UGA is the real competition for him. FSU most likely leads for Dickerson but AU is still working on him.

-Ahhmon Richards is going to Miami

-Nothing new about Brown. AU has more confidence than everybody else.

-Might look at grad transfers for LBs if we don't get Davis

Lamical Perine will have an Alabama hat and a Florida hat on his signing day table. Things starting to get very interdasting.

The "insiders" are out in full force during this season. Some dude on BOL posted that he is "hearing" that Gary is going to Auburn:

Every team has them and when they are wrong the kid got paid, the mother got a new house, or something happened under the table.

Looked a lot like Hightowers senior film. Unstoppable on both sides of the ball, returned punts. Dont'a never had this sort of speed though

Ole Miss is now "Right up there at the top" for Terrell Hall. That's all I could see from a Scout article behind a paywall.

The Texas RB will know ' by late tonight or early tomorrow morning'

Manvel, Texas, RB D'Vaughn Pennamon has some soul-searching to do when he gets back home after this weekend's official visit to Ole Miss. Pennamon told reporters after his official visit that he will sit down with his parents and decide his future "tonight or tomorrow morning."

"It's between here (Ole Miss), Alabama and Texas A&M," he said. "I will probably announce tomorrow. I'm looking at all the pros and cons of each school and opportunities. The visit here was really good. I've been committed here for a while. I'm just looking at my opportunities now."

Pennamon spent a lot of time with Ole Miss quarterback Chad Kelly during his visit.
"I spent a lot of time with a lot of guys. The highlight was hanging out with the players and building some chemistry," he stated. "It's amazing how you can get to know someone so quickly and form a bond. My favorite official visit has been here at Oxford, but A&M is coming after me extremely hard. They're telling me I'll have an opportunity to play quickly and make an impact."

Pennamon said he talked to both Bama and A&M during his official visit to Ole Miss.
"While I had free time, we talked," he stated, when asked.

The 5-foot-11, 199-pound Pennamon, who is rated a four-star prospect by Scout.com, said he would most likely announce his final decision on Twitter.

"You know, it's social media and the easiest way to do it now," he closed.
