I've posted it before, but go look at the 2010 class. A class most here would call garbage. Just go and look at all of the contributors, national champions, and NFL players from that class.

Sometimes you need a "glue" class. This class is the glue. We're revamping our offensive line TREMENDOUSLY with the 4 Olinemen coming in (two of them are 5 stars on various services), and are adding back in a bunch of players who will contribute depth to the roster down the line. The last two classes were so stock full of 5 stars that this class has to be the glue.

If someone hasn't figured this out by now, there's no hope for them.

Yep. Offensive guards generally don't get 5-stars. Neither do all-purpose guys or blocking tight ends.

Besides, if you do the class calculator on 247 and tack on Davis, Wilson and a few of the 4-stars we seem to be in good shape with, we end up with a class that would rate #2 or #3 in the last 5 years. Still pretty dang strong.

For clarification from 2010:

2 5 stars. One (Phillip Sims) transferred.

Others:

Dee Milliner
CJ Mosley
John Fulton
Adrian Hubbard
DeAndrew White
Jarrick Williams
Arie K.
DeQuan Menzie
Jalston Fowler
Brian Vogler
Nick Perry
Blake Sims
Chad Lindsay
Cade Foster
Brandon Ivory
Cody Mandell

All key contributions to the 2011, 2012 squads, and many helped carry the load between 2012 and the 2015 National Championship, a team that was one win away in 2013, and the 2014 team won the 2014 SECCG and was in the playoffs with Blake Sims at the helm.

Sometimes you need depth players that build the foundation to which your other classes build.

2014 and 2015 were outrageous in the number of 5 and 4 star recruits, and 2017 is coming along nicely. 2016 rebuilds the areas we need and still provides quality players, AND it still isn't done. No it won't be #1 more than likely, but anywhere between 2-5 is a good estimate.

The thing from the last 3 cycles (2014, 2015, 2016) that has me the most excited is the offensive line. We will have tremendous depth on the line starting next season. We were REALLY thin there since the GOAT line of 2012 moved on.

I miss the old days of recruiting. All you had was a Forrest Davis recruiting magazine and had to wait until the day after signing day to find out who ya got. It was simple

I still vividly remember the 2006 class. I was a junior I think, and my roommates and I checked BOL 48 times a day. The Brandon Spikes/Tim Tebow sagas were agonizing.

Damn that was a pretty weak class. As long as we add elite DLmen, LBs and DBs in this class im happy

Yeah possibly adding:

Ben Davis
Mack Wilson
Mecole Hardman
Demetris Robertson
AJ Brown
Nigel Knott
Shyheim Carter
Mique Juarez
Derrick Brown

Does not deserve to be downplayed like the 2010 class. 2010 class had Mosley and Fowler but it had a bunch of overrated guys as well. By far the worst we have had

Yep, and according to everyone who acts like they know things we are the pretty heavy favorites for Ben Davis and Shyheim Carter and are in really good shape with Mack Wilson. Haven't heard much on Knott in a while, Juarez seems like a wild card and Robertson sounds like he is going someone out of region (unless Kirby convinces him). No cluse with AJ Brown.

Any Hardeman updates lately? I know he said we were in 1st not long ago but nobody seems super confident there.

Either way, this is going to be a good class. It won't be the #1 class unless everything goes right, but it will be a Top 3-5 class with a bunch of needed players.

Even with just Davis, Wilson, Carter, Knott, and AJ Brown; we still already have Jonah Williams, Charles Baldwin, Kendell Jones, BJ Emmons, Trevon Diggs, and the rest are definitely solid.

I'd be over the moon if we got AJ Brown.

I named those 5 because those are the most likely.

We close that way that'd be a solid class. Those 5 would be 5 of our 6 highest commits on 247 (Jonah Williams would be the other). So yea, that would shake up the class.

Those 5 plus a couple random 4-stars and a sleeper 3-star and we'd finish at about 300 pts on 247 which would put us 3-5 range probably.

Even with more slots open than usual for this time in the process, I have no idea how they make the numbers work out. We need about 20 slots open right now, honestly.
