Some dude named "The Godfather" CB'd Ben Davis and Terrell Hall to Alabama.

He also CB'd Demetris Robertson and Mecole Hardman to Georgia and Mack Wilson to Florida.

Wilson to Bama starting to gain some traction. Rodney Orr said that our confidence level is going up with him.

BOL posted the same thing on Friday.

quote:

-- We talked to a source close to five-star linebacker Lyndell Wilson (Mack) out of Montgomery (Ala.). He told us he thinks Wilson ultimately ends up at Alabama, but that the Florida interest is real due to the fact he can get to Gainesville and play immediately. The source went on to say the Georgia interest is legitimate for the sole reason Kirby Smart is head coach. In the end the source doesn’t believe Wilson leaves the state for college.

BOL also said to keep an eye out for this 2017 WR out of Mobile:

WR Marlon Williams Highlights

He's 6'1" 185 pounds with a 39 inch vertical. Tosh is apparently keeping tabs on him. BOL expects him to get a ratings boost and a bunch of offers soon.

The fact that he's liked Florida and named them his "leader" and named Georgia his "leader" when OUR DC went there as HC should be a bit of a giveaway.

Even though he privately committed to our staff about a year ago, I believe he really has flirted with those schools. But he's probably ours in the end. The common sense factor.

TIFWIW but I coach with a guy here in Mississippi ( close to Starkville ) who says AJ Brown to Bama is a "done deal". I told him it's hard to get kids from here lately and he said " He is going to Bama" emphatically . He knows the family and lives by him . Still believe when he is signed , but some good news anyway

Three-point stance: Commit predictions, future five-stars, more

Five-star predictions

Okay, I preface this by saying the following: it’s only Jan. 9 and there is a long way to go before National Signing Day. But, as always, I’ll throw myself out there and take the risk of looking like a fool and make predictions on each of the current uncommitted five-star high school prospects.

* DT Rashan Gary - The No. 1 player in the country goes to Michigan.

* LB Mique Juarez – The No. 5 player in the country goes to UCLA.

* LB Ben Davis – The No. 7 player in the country goes to Alabama.

* ATH Demetris Robertson – The No. 8 player in the country goes to Georgia.

* LB Lyndell Wilson – The No. 12 player in the country goes to Florida.

* WR Nate Craig-Myers – The No. 13 player in the country goes to Auburn.

* DE Terrell Hall – The No. 14 player in the country goes to Alabama.

* ATH Mecole Hardman - The No. 15 player in the country goes to Georgia.

* LB Caleb Kelly – The No. 17 player in the country goes to Oklahoma

* TE Isaac Nauta – The No. 18 player in the country goes to Georgia

The ones I don’t feel super confident about are, well, many of them.

Despite his family legacy, Davis could very well end up at Georgia based on what some people close to him say. Robertson told me this week his leaders are Stanford and Notre Dame but I’m not quite buying it. Wilson could also end up at Alabama. Craig-Myers and Hall could both land at Florida State.

Important note: These are subject to change –- a lot –- over the next few weeks.

The Ole Miss fans on this site seem to feel the same way. We'll probably still get Landmass'd though.

Pushing for five-star status

Now that I’ve been at all the important U.S. Army All-American Bowl practices for the week, there are a few guys who are in San Antonio this week that stand out to me as potential five-star prospects if they sustain their level of play during the game itself.

Defensive tackle Derrick Brown, a former five-star, has been a force most of the week for the East and should be in the discussion. Wide receiver Tyler Vaughns is a guy I like more and more as I watch him and, at No. 28, is right in range. Athlete Jack Jones has been exceptional at cornerback all week long and has that swagger you love at the position. I have also become enamored with defensive end Jeffery Simmons, who could be a Chris Jones-type late five-star add from Mississippi.

Some guys who are in range but haven’t really shown five-star ability this week include wide receiver DeKaylin Metcalf, running back Tavien Feaster and offensive tackle Tommy Kraemer, at least in my mind.

A few wildcards to think about who need a big game include quarterback Feleipe Franks, offensive tackle Landon Young -- who I think I like more than the rest of the analyst team -- and a longshot in super explosive but slightly undersized defensive end Brian Burns.

There are others that are set to make big moves up and down, and you never know how a dominating performance in the game itself might impact things, but there will be some big-time rankings changes between now and National Signing Day.

Mind of Mike: The good, bad and surprising of Army Bowl

I was impressed with ...

... Quarterback Shea Patterson, who looked remarkably polished and calm despite being on the biggest stage of his career so far and facing his best competition.

... Cornerback Jack Jones, who might have earned that fifth star, and fellow cornerback Byron Murphy, who had a very good game in coverage.

... Linebacker Erick Fowler, who is one of the best big linebackers I have seen during all-star season.

... Tight end Devin Asiasi, who carries some bad weight but is a big target who can move. ... VaVae Malepeai, who was a quick and decisive runner

... Linebacker Caleb Kelly, who was all over the field.

... Wide receiver Tyler Vaughns, who continued his stellar play from the week in pushing for that fifth star.

... Athlete Mecole Hardman, not at how shifty he was but how difficult he is to tackle and how sneaky strong he is.

... Linebacker Josh Brown, who was effective standing up and in a pass-rushing stance.

... Defensive tackle Antwuan Jackson, who was in the backfield a few times.

... The push that Derrick Brown got as well as fellow defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence, who also got a push and peeled back to make a nice ankle tackle.

... The size and power of offensive tackle Tramonda Moore.

... Linebacker Shaquille Quarterman's quickness to the ball.

I was disappointed with ...

... Cornerback Trayvon Mullen, who was invisible during the week and toasted in the game.

... Quarterbacks Jacob Eason and Feleipe Franks, who both showed promise, and with Eason quite a bit of precision, in practice but then played poorly in the game.

... Wide receiver Trevon Sidney, who was invisible during the game and had an up-and-down week.

... Safety Jamel Cook, who wasn’t nearly as active as I expected despite being somehow credited with four tackles and had a big penalty.

... DeKaylin Metcalf, who came into the week in prime position for a fifth star and left looking a step too slow with suspect hands.

... Running back Tavien Feaster, who left the game after one run, and missed the first day of practice and just didn't look like he wanted to be out there.

... Defensive end Jonathon Cooper, who was a non-factor in the game and fellow defensive end Brian Burns, who was handled way too easily.

... Defensive end Janarius Robinson, who was handled very easily all week for a guy so highly ranked.

... Defensive tackle Julian Rochester, who had a bad late hit penalty and didn’t get the push some of his fellow defensive tackles did.

... That Binjimen Victor didn’t have the big week I expected.

... That wide receiver Austin Mack makes hard catches but drops some easy ones.

... The entire East offense, which was horrible.

... The bad weight that Mique Juarez has added recently, which made him a tad slower to the ball and didn’t allow him to stop as quickly as he needed to handle cutbacks.

SAN ANTONIO – The 2016 Army Bowl is in the books and while the final score was a lopsided 37-9, there was a lot more that we learned over the course of the week.

Who are the new five-stars?

Brian Burns is a five-star. We thought he had five-star potential coming into the week but the Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage defensive end did enough to cement his status with a great week of practice. He may not be a first-year starter but he has such great length, athleticism and coachability that his long-term potential is through the roof.

Other candidates for a fifth star will be discussed by the 247Sports in the coming weeks but here are a few guys we think made a strong case in San Antonio.

- WR/ATH, Demetris Robertson
- DB, Nigel Warrior

- WR, Austin Mack
- LB, Mique Juarez
- OT, Landon Young

Snap judgements

- Let's give credit where credit is due: Nebraska commit John Raridon, one of the least imposing blockers on the West offensive line pancaked five-star Derrick Brown in the end zone to pave the way for a touchdown. Despite his lofty ranking on 247Sports, Raridon is a bit of an underdog on the line of scrimmage. He proved some doubters wrong on that play.

- For a game that was lacking in elite running back names, two prospects really took advantage of the big stage. We thought TCU commit Sewo Olonilua was a future safety coming into this game. He looked like an elite national running back all week. We now think he can stick to offense in Fort Worth. Vavae Malepeai also took advantage of his opportunity. Though he didn't necessarily flash in practice, he looked great when it mattered in the game. The Oregon commit showed patience, vision and some subtle burst. He was the game's leading rusher with 66 yards on eight carries.

- Tyler Byrd may have had the best game of any defensive back. The Miami commit was a factor in the run game, he showed great ball skills on an interception and he had outstanding makeup speed on one end zone breakup.

- Two linebackers showed off their pass rushing skills. Florida State commit Josh Brown and LSU commit Erick Fowler both flashed in a big way rushing the edge. They are both being recruited as linebackers but they're best right now rushing the passer. I would expect both to be used in some capacity as pass rushers on the next level.

- Alabama commit Raekwon Davis' M.O. right now is huge upside but has the tendency to disappear at times. When the 6-7, 325-pounder shows up though, you notice him. That's exactly what he looked like on Saturday. While Davis wasn't always around the ball, when he found it, he suplexed a ball-carrier and looked like a man playing with boys.

- Though it wasn't mentioned on the broadcast, Mique Juarez flashed the Ole Miss 'land shark' sign following a big tackle. Does that mean good things to come for the Rebels? If Ole Miss is going to have a class that can be compared to the 2013 Robert Nkemdiche group, Juarez's commitment is crucial. Currently UCLA is the Crystal Ball favorite.

Like all recruiting showcases, the Army All-American Bowl is more about who commits where and how players develop than the actual game.

Despite that, stars are expected to shine on a national stage and play up to the reputation that got them there.

Even among a group of All-Americans, the following 10 players stand out. They are all 5-star recruits and rank among the top 25 prospects in the class (top 10 in the All-American Bowl). Fans of the teams they will play for tuned in Saturday to see them live for the first time in many cases.

Which ones lived up to the hype?
