Expect Smart news to impact current #Bama targets considerably more than any current UA verbals, especially in the 2016 class. #Bama #UGA

Figures. Not sure I could see any of our current commitments jumping ship for UGA save for Perry who will probably end up processed anyway.

Despite not having #Georgia in his original top 8, the Bulldogs are now in the mix according to 5-star LB Mack Wilson. Top 5 coming soon ...

BOL put up a DC Hot Board and Pruitt is at the top of the list. I found this statement to be especially relevant:

quote:

Multiple reports suggest Smart will not retain the current Bulldogs defensive coordinator, which leaves him looking for a new position.

I guess we can put to bed the rumors going around that Kirby would retain him.

The other three names on the Hot Board are Mel Tucker, Geoff Collins and Will Muschamp.

I bet you he retains Kevin Sherrer, or even promotes him to DC.

Guess Bama will lose all of there recruits now. Guess everyone wanted to play for Smart and not Saban.

It's all on how we do in the postseason now. Need Ben Davis and Mack to come on over and not get lured away.

I think we still get Davis. Mack is a huge question mark now.

Would everyone be okay overlooking Pruitt's attitude to ensure we maintain that Georgia pipeline?

I know I would.

Barton Simmons CB'd Mack Wilson to Georgia.

Let this sink in. We root for Lane Kiffin. Lane motherfricking Kiffin.

Yeah, I think I'd be fine rooting for Pruitt. That's who I'm hoping we hire because we need a great recruiter. This class is starting to remind me of the 2010 one

Hank released an article about UGA and Mack. Can't see what it says, but I assume it's the obvious Mack likes Kirby stuff.

So here's an interesting read regarding Pruitt from JC Shurburtt:

quote:

Georgia defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt has emerged as a potential candidate for the South Carolina head coaching job.

Sources indicate that Pruitt has a recommendation from former Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt and that he has been in contact with the Gamecocks about the position.

Pruitt is believed to be highly-interested in the South Carolina vacancy.

Also, we are told that the rumors of Pruitt having “baggage” off the field are unfounded and are the result of personality conflicts with the UGA administration.

“The situation was completely overblown,” a well-connected source to Pruitt said.

Pruitt has a strong reputation as a recruiter, earning 247Sports National Recruiter of the Year award for the 2012 recruiting cycle while an assistant at Alabama. The Rainsville, Ala., native has also been a part of three national championship teams- including two with the Crimson Tide (2011-12) and one as the defensive coordinator at Florida State in 2013.

The 41-yeard old played college football at Middle Tennessee State and Alabama.

Sources also indicate that Pruitt has such a strong reputation in the coaching community that he would “no doubt” be near the top of the list for the Crimson Tide head coaching job should that job open, even without head coaching experience.

Another interesting aspect of Pruitt- he is not represented by Creative Artists Agency (CAA), which has Houston head coach Tom Herman (Trace Armstrong), Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart and Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp (Jimmy Sexton) on its client roster. Communication with USC has been through his representation. ??Herman, Smart and Muschamp all have been mentioned in connection with the South Carolina job. Herman parlayed the interest from the Gamecocks into a raise from Houston to at least $3 million annually, Smart is believed to be the leading candidate at Georgia, though he has an offer in hand from the Gamecocks and Muschamp is a candidate that has been gaining serious momentum in the search in recent days.

It is unknown if Pruitt’s candidacy will gain major traction as South Carolina is looking to wrap up its search in the very near future, but there is enough intel to believe he’s moved into the pool of candidates.

From an "insider" on BOL:

quote:

Lots of fluid situations right now, but I wanted to share what I know to be accurate AS OF 10:04pm on 12/1/2015. Everything could literally change in 10 minutes.

-Doesn't look like Kirby keeps JP. Looks more and more like Muschamp...but that all depends on what UGA is willing to pay, etc
-JP back to Bama isn't a slam dunk...unless Mel moves on/JP is willing to coach a new position, etc. But that's not concrete. JP is a wildcard I won't try to predict.
-Muschamp still in play at USCe. Gus is The Biggest Loser in the worst way. His days are numbered.
-We'll miss Cochran, but come on...the architect is still in control. My biggest worry is if Tucker is ready for the playoffs. Not doubting him, just hope he and Saban can develop a rhythm.

Yeah I'm calling bullshite. Maybe if he proved himself at another gig, we might try to snatch him away, but there is no reason to think that we will go the coordinator route when Saban retires.

AJ Brown quotes:

quote:

With no official leaders, what schools would you say are recruiting you the hardest?

“Mississippi State,” Brown said. “Alabama, Cal; Cal’s coming at me real hard.”

When are you going to figure out who gets officials? And how are you going to decide who gets them?

“To be honest, I haven’t really been focused on that,” Brown said. “I’m trying to win a state championship. It’s going to be like real soon, though. Probably in a week or so I’m going to figure that out with my family.

“I know Mississippi State and Ole Miss probably aren’t going to get one because I go there all the time. I can go there whenever.”

How often do you talk to Alabama? And how many times have you been over to Tuscaloosa?

“I talk to Nick Saban a few times out of the week,” Brown said. “I talk to Coach Napier almost every other day. I’ve been over there two or three times.”

Out of Alabama, Ole Miss and Mississippi State, who’s got the coolest game day atmosphere?

“I’m going to have to go with Alabama,” Brown said.

What stands out about the Crimson Tide?

“That’s a winning program,” Brown said.

When do you plan on announcing?

“Signing Day,” Brown said.

I hope we land this kid.
